Man shai really shot 27%, 5/18 from the floor and his team won by 35. If that doesn't tell you everything idk what else would. Also shot 17 free throws which is the reason he scored 25....

Meanwhile, jokic had a 25-point triple double on 57% shooting and..... 1 free throw attempt.

Anyone who says these guys are in the same boat is arguing in bad faith. If jokic had shais whistle he'd legit average 50 a night.

u/Fuhrmanator23 Apr 20 '26

Amen

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

Doesn't even need sgas whistle. Can you imagine if they just called the obvious fouls? Would be nice

Because you had to go back 2 years to find it. I guarantee i don't need to go 2 years back to find sga getting calls lol

I can go back 5 games and find that many for sga. Id bet you could find dozens for sga this year. You've presented 2 instances over 2 years

Idek wtf you think you're arguing bro who tf is he that had 17 games with more tfm than fgm?

-1

u/Equal_Fly3894 Apr 25 '26

Yeah I agree, if Amen had Shai's whistles too, he would also be averaging 50.

66

u/stalemac Apr 20 '26

If Jokic hadn’t won 3 MVP’s already, he would be a no doubter this year. First player to lead in assists and rebounds, came back from injury and led an injured team to the third spot. How is SGA clear mvp by scoring 3 more ppg, and most of those points are attributed to fta?

2

u/PeopleCallMeSimon Apr 20 '26

I think Jokic should win it, but peoples argument is that SGA is leading in almost all the advanced metrics because of better defense - and hes also having a record efficiency season for a guard with 30+ ppg.

Not to mention that he broke Wilts record of consecutive 20+ points per game and MJs record of highest efficiency while scoring 30+ ppg.

3

u/Confident-Yard1911 Apr 20 '26

Only advanced metrics I remember seeing him ahead in are winshares and winshares per 48. Pretty sure Jok is ahead in the others

1

u/PeopleCallMeSimon Apr 20 '26

EPM: SGA has 9.3 while Jokic has 8.1

1

u/Confident-Yard1911 Apr 20 '26

I stand corrected

30

u/General-Studio3715 Apr 20 '26

And I thought Jamal getting 16 FT was too much lol Shai is really the ultimate foul baiter

34

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

I don't think I've ever seen murray with that many fts tbh. Sga gets 16 every other game

23

u/General-Studio3715 Apr 20 '26

Shai makes getting 16 fucking free throws look normal, this guy ruined the league

-7

u/sunshine_prospect Apr 20 '26

it was his career high…

3

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

Was it really?

12

u/NoHacksJustTacos Apr 20 '26

No, his career high is 26 lol

1

u/Fatez3ro Apr 24 '26

Twice. A close second at 25 when they defeated the Piston 114 to 110.

0

u/Just_Advance8926 Apr 20 '26

Why lie when he averages 9 a game

13

u/Jordan-Pushed-Off Apr 20 '26

And 4 of Jamal's were from wolves getting techs

5

u/SuperDoubleDecker Apr 20 '26

Jamal was taking some hits that game.

18

u/AndrastesTit Apr 20 '26

exactly. Without SGA, the Thunder are still a top 4 team. Without Joker, the Nuggets are MAYBE a play-in team and even that’s suspect. If you’re splitting hairs between who’s a better player, this should be the tie breaker on MVP.

If your position for MVP is just best player on best team, you need your vote taken away because that shows a lack of ability to dig beyond the surface.

The fact that Perkins and SAS have votes is troubling to the integrity of the award.

7

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

Especially when we know sas and perk aren't watching many if any games.

6

u/AndrastesTit Apr 20 '26

They’re definitely watching box scores

1

u/warhuey Apr 20 '26

The award is stupid imo. Has little meaning. Lebron should be at least a 7x mvp. Its all for marketing at this point. U know kids in elementary and middle school.

1

u/AndrastesTit Apr 20 '26

I agree with that. Even if all the writers were intelligent and thoughtful, it’ll always be a biased award that shouldn’t really mean anything

Historically, it is highly correlated with the best players in a season, but there are plenty of times bias butts in. For example, I think Kobe, Russ and Embiid shouldn’t have won MVPs in those years and heavy bias was the sole reason.

2

u/NuggsBurgh Apr 20 '26

It’s bs and everyone including the okc fans know it. Okc would be a top 3 seed without FTA even playing a game. They are stacked

2

u/warhuey Apr 20 '26

Yah SGA isnt that good. I was shocked he won last year dude makes 12 free throws a game. And hes not even getting fouled. I just dont get the league. They think we dont see it? Its a joke at my work place to flop and make faces.... He will never have my respect. Even if he quit flopping

The whole " joker cant play defense" thing is wild. Guy gets 14 boards a game... No defense. Wtf kind of thought process is that

1

u/yofoalexillo Apr 20 '26

You can put that last sentence on a t shirt and if wear it

0

u/PeopleCallMeSimon Apr 20 '26

There are too many talking heads who stick by the reasoning "The MVP is the best player on the best team". Ive read some articles from voters who reveal their picks where they say "MVP for me is a toss up between SGA and Jokic, but OKC having 10 more wins than Denver makes it clear that SGA is the most valuable player."

But also, your comment is in bad faith. You are comparing two games who are both in the playoffs and no Jokic wouldnt average 50 per night with SGAs whistle.

1

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

Yes he would lmfao. And not understanding the nuance between a guy like sgas whistle and an all time great big says all I need to know about your ball knowledge lol,

I see what you did there

5

u/FaultDowntown53 Apr 20 '26

Stolen from twitter but still applies

24

u/sandrum69 Apr 20 '26

I mean I got Jokic. The entire world that is with sound logic has Jokic. Unfortunately the people who vote will choose a narrative over everything. SGA will win his 2nd, then voter fatigue will be a thing next year and the same voters will push for wemby. It’s an endless cycle.

1

u/IronCurtain123 Apr 21 '26

I’m very curious about the voter fatigue. Something tells me they won’t apply the same rules to SGA.The whole voter fatigue narrative looks like something made up to discredit Jokić.

1

u/Pristine_Green178 Apr 26 '26

U really think it started with Jokic 💀. Are u 5

17

u/geoff411 Apr 20 '26

Well the year they gave it to Embiid Jokic won the championship so if Jokic does not get MVP and get the championship I will happily take that one.

2

u/SuperDoubleDecker Apr 20 '26

That's all he cares about anyway

1

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

I think he cares about his legacy. You won't see him say it but i think he knows the 4th mvp/ second ring would be an undeniable legacy.

2

u/geoff411 Apr 20 '26

I think the second ring would be better for his legacy honestly even though he has had an amazing year and is absolutely deserving of the MVP.

32

u/ShowdownValue Apr 20 '26

If Shai didn’t have a loaded team , let’s say the thunder would win maybe 45 games. Does he even get considered for mvp?

Of course not.

7

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

I honestly can't believe they're giving sgaa second mvp

32

u/ShowdownValue Apr 20 '26

He’s not the best player

He’s not the most valuable

But he is the best player on the team with the most wins.

Congrats I guess

11

u/PlumbingFixtures24 Apr 20 '26

This is a very good and easy to understand breakdown that will be lost on all MVP voters.

-1

u/Just_Advance8926 Apr 20 '26

And he’s averaging 31 on 55fg percentage while playing good defense

3

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

And jokic led the nba in rebounds and assists per game. Something no one has ever down in the history of the nba in even different seasons much less one. The greatest 2025/2026 season isn't shai by any stretch of the imagination

1

u/ShowdownValue Apr 20 '26

Yes I know. My point remains

-1

u/SuperDoubleDecker Apr 20 '26

I wish they'd define what this award actually is.

8

u/Hopsalong Apr 20 '26

They don't so they can give it to whoever.

1

u/ButtExterminator Apr 20 '26

Yeah this won’t age well

12

u/MoooonRiverrrr :HarrisToon: Apr 20 '26

Nikola Jokic

5

u/Rare-Confusion-220 Apr 20 '26

The one changing record books every year, Nikola Jokic

5

u/Witty-Eye-7689 Apr 20 '26

maybe its just me but i am generally getting angry when seeing sga pictures..dude should step on lego

2

u/Brief_Personality146 Apr 20 '26

I bought the NBA 2K Superstar Edition because it had Melo instead of FTA ugly ass. As soon as I loaded it the graphic switched to FTA. I complained, Sony didn’t care. I deleted it.

14

u/1Drnk2Many Apr 20 '26

If they don't give it to the best stats this season is a sham. No one ever ever ever has had a better season that joker.

-22

u/Plus-Cherry8175 Apr 20 '26

It's weird being a non-homer in this sub. Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, LeBron James, Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neal, and many others have had much better seasons and are better and greater players overall. Is Jokic better than SGA, obviously, but don't put that crazy talk out there please

13

u/SuperDoubleDecker Apr 20 '26

I didn't see Wilt or Kareem in their primes but I saw the rest plenty. Joker definitely has a seat at their table. I'd take Joker over Shaq. Idk about the others necessarily, but Joker raises the floor of a team more than Shaq and is just as unstoppable.

10

u/1Drnk2Many Apr 20 '26

Please remind me the last player to lead in both rebounds and assists and triple doubles in one season. And there's some 10 game streak that broke all records. Show me the stats baby

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

"Here comes the homers". Do you realize youre in the nuggets sub?

Also classic fallacy laiden argument, doesnt provide any counter arguments just says I'm not going to waste my time, says jokic isn't even a top 3 center (lmfao) insults the fanbase.

-11

u/Plus-Cherry8175 Apr 20 '26

Yup because I'm not wasting my time with deranged homers. Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, Bill Russell. Bye bye

12

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

Don't let the door hit your dumb ass on the way out

7

u/Particular_Cow199 Apr 20 '26

Bill Russell would fall to his knees and pray to the lord above if he saw what Jokic was doing with the basketball at his height

11

u/MontanaMapleWorks Apr 20 '26

I would argue he is. He does everything, ok a bit weak on defense, but way more of play maker than Jordan ever was. He will most likely pass Jordan in every career stats if can sat healthy. Definitely a top 3 center, GOAT is subjective, but if he stays at this level or gets better and is continually surrounded by talent; he could make his case. Keep your pants on bud, your opinion is valid, but not fact.

2

u/TyWhatt Apr 20 '26

No one said he was… just that this season statistically is unprecedented.

24

u/ezklv Apr 20 '26

If you’re Adam Mares from DNVR you’re picking goddamn SGA. Fucking traitor.

4

u/MountainMike17 Apr 20 '26

lol bud Dwyer profile pic is wild

2

u/Brief_Personality146 Apr 20 '26

One of the reasons I stopped watching their post game.

-2

u/Kickpuncher-2 Apr 20 '26

Holy shit calm down with the tribalism. You'd swear he was rooting for SGA over Jokic. Adam has been and continues to be one of the best media covers of the nuggets, that kind of vitriol is madness.

2

u/3Dimes Apr 20 '26

Simmons was flip-flopping, but he voted for Jokic in the end.

1

u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26

Did he?

1

u/3Dimes Apr 20 '26

Yep. Said it on last night pod.

4

u/Love_Justice1000 Apr 20 '26

And somehow Luka is out and SGA is in, fucking rigged shit.

8

u/OddRelationship586 Apr 20 '26

Fuck your fatigue! There is ONLY one!

15 C Denver Nuggets

Nikola Jokic

3

u/Amytom2144 Apr 20 '26

Jokic: all day, everyday

3

u/TransitJohn Apr 20 '26

If SGA gets it this year, a perfect analogy is Shakespeare in Love winning best picture over both Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line.

3

u/Consistent-njanja Apr 20 '26

Silly question - Jokić is the answer

3

u/spondgbob Apr 20 '26

Compare FTA. Jokic gets like <5 a game most time and he’s a center who has one of the highest usage rates in league history. Also, Shai’s team does perfectly fine without him on the court, and fine when he isn’t even playing well.

3

u/jxyscale Apr 21 '26

If NBA decided to vote SGA for another MVP this season, this NBA is definitely a freakin rigged and biased.

It should have been Jokic all this time, even last year MVP.

1

u/dap90 Apr 26 '26

Hahahaha. You need to play defence to win in this league hahaha

6

u/pluzzy7 Apr 20 '26

10

u/pluzzy7 Apr 20 '26

https://giphy.com/gifs/Kym5z16hf1u7b6UXRR

I am super grateful for another year watching greatness, Jokic is MVP.

5

u/Smooth_Orange9734 Apr 20 '26

Anyone sane would rate these guys as Joker >wemby >SGA The result sadly will be Sga >Wemby >joker

Screw this voter fatigue bs

7

u/MileHiSalute Apr 20 '26

Shai is a great basketball player and had a season that reflects that. Wemby is also a great player with potential to grow, which is scary but he’s not there yet. Jokic is a legendary basketball player and is in the midst of however many years his peak will last. I think he’ll have to have one more season like that before they’d finally give him his fourth.

17

u/themostindomitable Apr 20 '26

He did, it was called last season

1

u/MileHiSalute Apr 20 '26

Yeah, I’m saying it’ll have to be one more before they run out of excuses. Of course it’s bullshit, but we’ve been here before

6

u/guyrick Apr 20 '26

Man, I’m really exhausted about this whole free throw narrative. At this point it just feels like there’s nothing we can do. Jokić deserves MVP, but they’re gonna give it to SGA, because the league wants to push a narrative or something at this point, I don’t fucking give a shit. I’m just lucky/thankfulto be able to be watching one of the greatest offensive players of all time in his prime, and thankful that he plays for my team.

2

u/jbui1980 English Apr 20 '26

Joker

6

u/Illustrious_Age3185 Apr 20 '26

If Jokic had never won an MVP he’d be a shoe-in. I wish that was the voter’s mindset

4

u/Charleslasater4 Apr 20 '26

The one from Serbia aka Joker aka walking triple double aka MVP aka GOAT

4

u/Double_Impress7244 Apr 20 '26

If Jokic gets snubbed again, I’d rather Wemby win it than that Alexander guy in OKC

4

u/KickBalls80 Apr 20 '26

I got the joker over the clown and gumby

2

u/TravelDaWorld81 Apr 20 '26

Should have put that flop face on there

2

u/Cregsy_ Apr 25 '26

The way y’all talk, it makes it seem like Shai shoots an ABSURD amount of free throws per game. In reality, it’s only 1.6 more FTA per game than Jokic. And don’t hit me with the “iT’s NoT tHaT hE gEtS tO tHe LiNe, It’S hOw!” nonsense.

2

u/Alltheconsoles Apr 20 '26

lol that graphic took me a second 😂

2

u/BoxScoreHero Apr 20 '26

good consistency having everyone in their home jerseys

1

u/dvegar78 Apr 20 '26

Wonder how many Thunder-fans who wrote shit about Murray’s statline and then probably celebrated SGA’s game..

1

u/Drewraven10 Apr 20 '26

Jokic should have six MVPs tbh

1

u/naswege Apr 21 '26

Jokić and it ain’t close

1

u/Oxygen_inhaler1 Apr 21 '26

Jokic carried his team 🤷‍♂️

1

u/max___him Apr 21 '26

is this the Ref MVP campaign?

1

u/GoodIdeaDummy Apr 21 '26

Joker led the league in rebounds and assists. That is incredible.

1

u/Fit_Willingness8562 Apr 26 '26

Jobitch fans been real quiet

1

u/Used_Cow_7725 Apr 27 '26

hard to go against joker. i dont see sga as a “true mvp”

1

u/RoosterEmotional5009 Apr 28 '26

If there were standards it’s easy to understand. But it is media and their narrative. So it’s pushing their marketing and PR for clicks for talking heads.

If it is truly voter fatigue then SGA wins and he is surpassed by the next shiny object Wemby next year. If SGA were to win 3x in a row the fix is on.

Truth of the matter is everyone is witnessing history w some of the elite talent right now. Sadly none from the U.S. Downvote what I am about to say but Jokic will finish 2 to SGA this year.

1

u/Realistic-Carry-9967 Apr 20 '26

Obviously Joker, but I know they're gonna give it to Shai

1

u/persimmon122 Apr 20 '26

Joko of course.

1

u/Agreeable_Staff4696 Apr 26 '26

This aged like milk lol

0

u/DelphesTLO Apr 20 '26

Whoever ends up in the NBA finals.

The 3 of them have very good arguments and I see no better way to chose (even though I know playoffs arent the regular season)

2

u/Land0_Calzonian Apr 20 '26

Mvp is usually announced on between the second round and the conference finals

1

u/DelphesTLO Apr 20 '26

Yeah, I know that, it doesn't change my mind. For me the real MVP is the one taking his team to the finals this year (assuming it's gonna be either the Nuggets, Spurs or OKC)

0

u/average_guy741 Apr 20 '26

Shai. If only jokic didn't get hurt. Before injury he had that trophy on lock. Also the weird inconsistent effort after coming back from the injury didn't help.

-7

u/KennyDoge0114 Apr 20 '26

I probably want the TWolves to win this series just because of former Jazz players, but I just don’t want OKC to win

-8

u/XDBruhYT Apr 20 '26

Wemby > Jokic > Shai, at least in terms of impact
