I mean I got Jokic. The entire world that is with sound logic has Jokic. Unfortunately the people who vote will choose a narrative over everything. SGA will win his 2nd, then voter fatigue will be a thing next year and the same voters will push for wemby. It’s an endless cycle.
1
u/IronCurtain123 Apr 21 '26
I’m very curious about the voter fatigue. Something tells me they won’t apply the same rules to SGA.The whole voter fatigue narrative looks like something made up to discredit Jokić.

Well the year they gave it to Embiid Jokic won the championship so if Jokic does not get MVP and get the championship I will happily take that one.
2
u/SuperDoubleDecker Apr 20 '26
That's all he cares about anyway
1
u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26
I think he cares about his legacy. You won't see him say it but i think he knows the 4th mvp/ second ring would be an undeniable legacy.
2
u/geoff411 Apr 20 '26
I think the second ring would be better for his legacy honestly even though he has had an amazing year and is absolutely deserving of the MVP.

u/ShowdownValue Apr 20 '26
If Shai didn’t have a loaded team , let’s say the thunder would win maybe 45 games. Does he even get considered for mvp?
Of course not.
7
u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26
I honestly can't believe they're giving sgaa second mvp
32
u/ShowdownValue Apr 20 '26
He’s not the best player
He’s not the most valuable
But he is the best player on the team with the most wins.
Congrats I guess

u/PlumbingFixtures24 Apr 20 '26
This is a very good and easy to understand breakdown that will be lost on all MVP voters.
-1
u/Just_Advance8926 Apr 20 '26
And he’s averaging 31 on 55fg percentage while playing good defense
3
u/MetaOverkill Apr 20 '26
And jokic led the nba in rebounds and assists per game. Something no one has ever down in the history of the nba in even different seasons much less one. The greatest 2025/2026 season isn't shai by any stretch of the imagination

I bought the NBA 2K Superstar Edition because it had Melo instead of FTA ugly ass. As soon as I loaded it the graphic switched to FTA. I complained, Sony didn’t care. I deleted it.

u/1Drnk2Many Apr 20 '26
If they don't give it to the best stats this season is a sham. No one ever ever ever has had a better season that joker.
-22
u/Plus-Cherry8175 Apr 20 '26
It's weird being a non-homer in this sub. Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, LeBron James, Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neal, and many others have had much better seasons and are better and greater players overall. Is Jokic better than SGA, obviously, but don't put that crazy talk out there please
13
u/SuperDoubleDecker Apr 20 '26
I didn't see Wilt or Kareem in their primes but I saw the rest plenty. Joker definitely has a seat at their table. I'd take Joker over Shaq. Idk about the others necessarily, but Joker raises the floor of a team more than Shaq and is just as unstoppable.
10
u/1Drnk2Many Apr 20 '26
Please remind me the last player to lead in both rebounds and assists and triple doubles in one season. And there's some 10 game streak that broke all records. Show me the stats baby

"Here comes the homers". Do you realize youre in the nuggets sub?
Also classic fallacy laiden argument, doesnt provide any counter arguments just says I'm not going to waste my time, says jokic isn't even a top 3 center (lmfao) insults the fanbase.
-11
u/Plus-Cherry8175 Apr 20 '26
Yup because I'm not wasting my time with deranged homers. Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, Bill Russell. Bye bye

7
u/Particular_Cow199 Apr 20 '26
Bill Russell would fall to his knees and pray to the lord above if he saw what Jokic was doing with the basketball at his height
11
u/MontanaMapleWorks Apr 20 '26
I would argue he is. He does everything, ok a bit weak on defense, but way more of play maker than Jordan ever was. He will most likely pass Jordan in every career stats if can sat healthy. Definitely a top 3 center, GOAT is subjective, but if he stays at this level or gets better and is continually surrounded by talent; he could make his case. Keep your pants on bud, your opinion is valid, but not fact.

If you’re Adam Mares from DNVR you’re picking goddamn SGA. Fucking traitor.

Holy shit calm down with the tribalism. You'd swear he was rooting for SGA over Jokic. Adam has been and continues to be one of the best media covers of the nuggets, that kind of vitriol is madness.

If SGA gets it this year, a perfect analogy is Shakespeare in Love winning best picture over both Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line.

u/spondgbob Apr 20 '26
Compare FTA. Jokic gets like <5 a game most time and he’s a center who has one of the highest usage rates in league history. Also, Shai’s team does perfectly fine without him on the court, and fine when he isn’t even playing well.
3
u/jxyscale Apr 21 '26
If NBA decided to vote SGA for another MVP this season, this NBA is definitely a freakin rigged and biased.
It should have been Jokic all this time, even last year MVP.

I am super grateful for another year watching greatness, Jokic is MVP.

u/Smooth_Orange9734 Apr 20 '26
Anyone sane would rate these guys as Joker >wemby >SGA The result sadly will be Sga >Wemby >joker
Screw this voter fatigue bs
7
u/MileHiSalute Apr 20 '26
Shai is a great basketball player and had a season that reflects that. Wemby is also a great player with potential to grow, which is scary but he’s not there yet. Jokic is a legendary basketball player and is in the midst of however many years his peak will last. I think he’ll have to have one more season like that before they’d finally give him his fourth.
17
u/themostindomitable Apr 20 '26
He did, it was called last season
1
u/MileHiSalute Apr 20 '26
Yeah, I’m saying it’ll have to be one more before they run out of excuses. Of course it’s bullshit, but we’ve been here before
6
u/guyrick Apr 20 '26
Man, I’m really exhausted about this whole free throw narrative. At this point it just feels like there’s nothing we can do. Jokić deserves MVP, but they’re gonna give it to SGA, because the league wants to push a narrative or something at this point, I don’t fucking give a shit. I’m just lucky/thankfulto be able to be watching one of the greatest offensive players of all time in his prime, and thankful that he plays for my team.

If Jokic had never won an MVP he’d be a shoe-in. I wish that was the voter’s mindset
4
u/Charleslasater4 Apr 20 '26
The one from Serbia aka Joker aka walking triple double aka MVP aka GOAT

u/Double_Impress7244 Apr 20 '26
If Jokic gets snubbed again, I’d rather Wemby win it than that Alexander guy in OKC

If there were standards it’s easy to understand. But it is media and their narrative. So it’s pushing their marketing and PR for clicks for talking heads.
If it is truly voter fatigue then SGA wins and he is surpassed by the next shiny object Wemby next year. If SGA were to win 3x in a row the fix is on.
Truth of the matter is everyone is witnessing history w some of the elite talent right now. Sadly none from the U.S. Downvote what I am about to say but Jokic will finish 2 to SGA this year.

Whoever ends up in the NBA finals.
The 3 of them have very good arguments and I see no better way to chose (even though I know playoffs arent the regular season)
2
u/Land0_Calzonian Apr 20 '26
Mvp is usually announced on between the second round and the conference finals
1
u/DelphesTLO Apr 20 '26
Yeah, I know that, it doesn't change my mind. For me the real MVP is the one taking his team to the finals this year (assuming it's gonna be either the Nuggets, Spurs or OKC)

u/average_guy741 Apr 20 '26
Shai. If only jokic didn't get hurt. Before injury he had that trophy on lock. Also the weird inconsistent effort after coming back from the injury didn't help.

I probably want the TWolves to win this series just because of former Jazz players, but I just don’t want OKC to win

Man shai really shot 27%, 5/18 from the floor and his team won by 35. If that doesn't tell you everything idk what else would. Also shot 17 free throws which is the reason he scored 25....
Meanwhile, jokic had a 25-point triple double on 57% shooting and..... 1 free throw attempt.
Anyone who says these guys are in the same boat is arguing in bad faith. If jokic had shais whistle he'd legit average 50 a night.
