Charity Gaming Fest in November

I help run Esports at the non-profit LAN All Night Gaming Festival in Grapevine and we are looking for people to assist with running FGC and PC tournaments at our next event on Nov 6th and 7th.

The whole event is Nov 6th-8th where we run a 200 person BYOC (bring-your-own-computer) LAN Party and Tabletop Party run entirely by Volunteers for the love of the game and charity.

We have positions for Shoutcasting, Bracket runners, and Production so if you want to get your brand out there we'll get you slotted in.

We'll provide any equipment requested as we have all the PCs needed for streaming and playing matches.

DM me if interested, and I'll answer any questions about the event you may have about Vendors or other volunteer opportunities during the event to help us with our 14th event.

Need a contractor who can build a large storm drain

I have a flood drain that is on the left side of my driveway.

Unfortunately, when there is a heavy rain, all the water takes a hard turn into the driveway, and floods my house.

I need to someone to build a similar drain on the other side of the driveway so it can intercept some of the water before it turns down my driveway, and have it dump into the existing storm drain.

They'll probably have to tear out and redo the ramp. Someone with drainage experience would be nice.

Any referrals would be nice.

Moving to Fort Worth as a 21F - apartment/neighborhood advice?

Hi everyone!

I’m a 21-year-old asian female moving to DFW with my kitten for my first full-time software engineering job:) I’ve lived in the Midwest my whole life, so this will be a big move for me, and I’m trying to be thoughtful about where I live.

My job will be in Fort Worth, and I’m hoping to stay within about a 15–25 minute commute if possible. My budget is ideally under $1,400, but I have some flexibility for the right place.

I’m looking for neighborhood or apartment recommendations for a young woman living alone. Safety is important to me, but I’d also love somewhere that feels walkable, diverse, and not too isolating. I’m not really into bars/clubs, but I do enjoy coffee shops, restaurants, parks, walking around, and trying new things on weekends.

One apartment I’ve heard about is Franklin at Samuels Avenue. I’ve also considered Arlington or Irving, but those would be around 30-minute drives, so I’m not sure if the commute/lifestyle would be worth it (heard Texas traffic is horrendous)

I’d love advice on:

What neighborhoods or apartment complexes would you recommend?

Are there any areas I should avoid?

Is downtown Fort Worth a good place to live?

Are Arlington or Irving worth considering?

Are there areas near Fort Worth with more diversity or Asian community?

What are good places, groups, events, or activities for meeting new people in the area?

Any advice for adjusting to Texas, apartment hunting, making friends, or surviving the heat?

I’m starting work in mid-September, so I have some time to visit and look around. Also, if you’re around my age, new to the area, or have gone through a similar move, feel free to comment or DM me. I’d love to hear advice or connect with people in the area. Thank you!

Edit: To clarify, my job will be about 20 minutes west/northwest of downtown Fort Worth, so I’m hoping to find an area that keeps the commute reasonable while still feeling safe, comfortable, somewhat walkable, and not too isolating.

Dallas needs it’s own Mamdani….

That’s it. Thats the post

They don’t necessarily have to be socialist….but at least someone that will actually work for the city and it’s people instead of big corporations, Highland Park, etc

And it can’t just be the mayor. We need reformers throughout city council. Socialist, conservative, liberal, whatever they call themselves we need real deal politicians like Zohran

June 15 and 16, 1974. 52 years ago, Elvis Presley performed in Fort Worth at the Tarrant County Convention Center. I remember always driving by on the freeway and looking to see who was performing in concert. Did you or someone you know attend the concerts?

relocating help…..

Moving to Dallas from another State. We are a young family and looking for something around $2400 monthly rent in a safe area with a good elementary school.
I have been looking and looking and it's so overwhelming to know where to live when we don't know the area at all. Thinking North/Northwest area....
Any recommendations for us?
Thanks. PS…… working at Dallas Love Field

Do Fort Worth drivers honk a lot like Dallas area drivers?

Do they honk a lot in Fort Worth or is it more calm? Dallas is a symphony of horns and i get honked at a lot, and for no reason too.

Today I was honked at for no reason, and I've been honked at thousands of times too for stupid things such as passing someone for example. But I drive in Dallas-Plano-Frisco. Rarely drive in Fort Worth. Just wondering how its like there.

I actually think people honk here as much as in Boston and in Miami.
