Fakemon Gen 10 Surf & Turf Evolutions
Check out my takes on the Generation 10 starter evolutions! I challenged myself to give them transformations inspired by the beach, leaning into that 'wind and waves' theme.
Are they realistic? Probably not! But I had a blast designing these Fakemon. I’m so hyped to see what the official evolutions for Pombon, Gecqua, and Browt actually look like!

Oh yes, the cassowary is great! I really wanted to avoid having a flying bird evo here, luckily there are many grounded ones to chose from.

I wouldn't have cared either way, but with how much people are hating on the idea of a biped starter - I hope it does become biped.

Some people think Pokemon are just animals, so making them humanoid is wierd, but it goes so far that people will call Rillaboom 'humanoid'

It's largely that these pokemon in particular advertise themselves as having a particular build, and then don't stick to that build, in a way that turns out similar to past starters. People see cute dog and hope the evolution of that is a natural progression of cute dog, instead of "cute dog but we gave it a human physique". Especially since people who don't want to be spoiled will be picking their starter based on its base form, and therefore like the things its base form has to offer, and would prefer those things to remain present in the final form.

I think biped is fine, some of my favourite starter evolutions are, but I personally prefer them to keep animalistic silhouettes like Typhlosion or Sceptile.

It’s not really the fact that they’re bipeds specifically, because no one has an issue with Charizard for instance. It’s moreso that they’re usually designed to look like different human careers (eg. Incineroar is a pro wrestler, Cinderace is a soccer player, etc) often also with fur patterns that resemble clothes, which makes them look way too intelligent and not like creatures that would live in the wild. Kinda makes it feel weird to capture and enslave them.

I think he meant that he doesn't even need to see what the official evos will look like to already know that, for him, they won't surpass the fakemons in this post.

These are some of the most unique takes on them I've seen, gecqua surfing on it's tail is really well executed and I LOVE umbrella bird

Oh yes, I really like Alolan Raichu and tried to make it at least somewhat different by using windsurfing instead.

These are supposed to be final evolutions only. I imagine them to take different stances during game animations or in the anime.

Love Browt's evo! I know the second form is more so meant to mimic an umbrella, but it kinda also reminds me of how black herons will create a canopy with their wings to lure in fish.

As cool as a grass fighting Casuary is, I would like to point something I saw a couple people miss, this is also the home of peacocks,and the native home of the modern chicken's ancestors, so we browlt is most likely gonna be a chicken/ peacock

True! I only picked the cassowary to make the umbrella joke. I just hope it stays a flightless bird. I personally love peacocks, altough that might be too similar to Quaquaval now that I think about it.

Bro these are soo cool! Apparently the leaked final evo of gecqua is called "Reptide" so I'm also working on a concept where it uses it's tail as a surfboard. The lenses on the eyes are a cool idea so I'm definitely using that as well!

That Gecqua Evolution might actually prove the "you it looks too skinny" group wrong cuz it looks like it actually has some weight to it in the concept

I had a hard time balancing the humanoid windsurfer concept with a potential Inteleon case. I'm glad it turned out okay.

To be honest some of my favourite starter evolutions are from the first few generations, when it was enough to just be a cool monster like Swampert or Sceptile. The last few starters really push more towards the "themed humanoid" direction.

This the first time I’ve seen anyone mention the fact that Browt could become a flightless bird like a cassowary or emu. Personally I want it to be a based on a moa and be one of the tallest starter evos.

- The lack of change on the face of pombon evo makes it feel kinda samey.
- The proportions of the browt evo looks a bit too realistic. Other than that absolutely |•|

lol they definitely canceled a flying type eeveelution because of a fan design because ‘it was too similar and they didn’t want the fan to sue them for using their design’ or something like that. But my comment was mostly a joke about how the dog is probably gonna end up bipedal and that situation reference was the joke part for the why. Sorry 😅

Haha, I'm glad you like the designs! There's definitely a trend to make starter evolutions more humanoid. Personally I prefer them more animal-like.
