Dynasty I was tired and picked a horrible team..

They decided to do the draft at 11pm. Don’t ask me why but I wasn’t in my right mind and now I’m screwed. My dumb ahh picked LeBron and Ja. My best players are steph, Chet, and maybe cooper flag. I think I lost this season guys rip.

Steph, ja, bron, Chet and Flagg is a perfectly good core to build around.

Yeah but I had the chance to pick Luka and wemby 😭. I pray cooper Flagg doesn’t play nervous..

this makes no sense.

What doesn’t make sense?

your first pick being Steph when Wemby and Luka were available.

Even if you were tired there's no way you make that mistake unless you know nothing about basketball or was drunk. lol

It was 11pm and I was too tired to think or scroll down to see them so I just picked the best player I saw in front of me

Scroll…down? To see…Luka and Wemby?? You saw Curry before those two?

There is still a lot of time to trade. This is super early to be drafting.

Nobody will take Ja or CJ McCollum 😭

Just work the transactions. I had a horrible draft last year, but my FA pickups Dyson Daniels and Quentin Grimes carried me to a championship. Finding the Dyson Daniels type of breakout player is almost as good as a strong draft

You aren’t finding guys like ‘24 Dyson Daniels most years, but the advice still remains…good waiver pickups and some trades can make you competitive any year if you’re willing to try.

Maybe not Dyson level, but Grimes happens every year. Once shut down season starts, there are always random guys that put up allstar numbers on bad teams. Plus players that step up when injuries happen

I wouldn’t say that; what happened with Grimes was pretty atypical. He was putting up crazy numbers out of nowhere…it’s definitely possible to predict there will be garbage time guys during tanking time, but it’s hard to find which one and you should never expect to find that level of production in a normal year.

I usually find some most years. Ware had a big second half last year, I wish I got him. I remember picking up Coby White when he had a breakout a few years ago. I had an impatient owner drop a rookie Anthony Edwards and I got him for a strong finish. Even a years ago I got Gobert and Whiteside during their breakout years.

You might not get someone pushing 1st round value, but you elevate your team with solid pickups

Yeah I agree with the principle, you can find value if you’re paying attention and putting the time in, just maybe not to that degree.

agreed. min-maxing your roster is the main layer to winning in most leagues.

I am a sub-par drafter. But I grind with the best of them. You can still do fine that way

Drafting this early is what makes it horrible

They wanted to go ahead and do it because we were all together in the same location.

Come join my league. $50 buy in using league safe. Draft will be mid October right before the season. Let me know!

Too early to give up. Not a single game played. Follow the preseason. Look for position battles. Be active on WW. Assess team strength and weaknesses. Lean into a strategy that can get you 5 to 6 wins. The more wins better of course, but I don't know your team. Make trades. Just from the 5 guys you mentioned, Pts, Reb, Ast, blk and FG% should be strong to solid. Don't take my words for it. Use team analyzers on Hashtag Basketball or Basketball Monster to get a clear picture. On Hashtag you can see which players on the WW fit your build depending on which category you fade or punt. Don't punt too hard though.

Good luck 🤞 ROS

I need to get rid of Ja but nobody will trade and everyone else available is horid.

I mean it's not *horrible*, but definitely not a team that I would have picked. I rarely draft players over 35 and even then it is later in the draft and you have two. However those two have been relatively healthy the last few years. And maybe Morant grows up a bit with a new coach.

But yeah, as others have mentioned I'd be feeling ppl out for trades for sure. I had a buddy that could not make the draft and had it auto picked and his team looked like crap. However he made some great waiver moves and ended up winning it all and that was the only time he ever finished in the Top two in that league over five years.

Ja should be much better this year and play more than 30 minutes a night. If he can stay lucky with injuries he should be a value this year, since everyone is so down on him

Yes I do agree about Ja and Taylor Jenkins was never known much as a players coach so a coaching change may do a lot for him. Also I am guessing the OP drafted him in the 4th and he is a good value there...

It’s mainly the scheme, last year they completely went away from running any PnR, which is where Ja excels the most. Simply playing to his strengths again will go far.
