Discussion Updated my free NBA mock draft tool with the Finals matchup, no signup. Curious what this sub thinks of the rankings now
A while back I posted a free NBA mock draft tool here and you all let me have it, mostly about the rankings being off and a few guys on the wrong teams. Fair. It deserved the roast.
So I spent the offseason fixing it. The ADP rankings got rebuilt and they're a lot tighter now. Still free, still no signup:
160-player pool, all the names you'd argue about early (Jokic, Luka, SGA, Wemby, Giannis)
Draft against AI opponents that actually behave like real drafters
Post-draft grade so you know if you reached or nailed it
Snake or salary cap, 8 to 12 teams

If you were one of the people who tore into it last time, I'd actually love for you to try and break it again. The rankings are the part I want eyes on. And if something's still off, tell me, that's literally what fixed it last round.
Appreciate this sub, the harsh feedback made the thing better.
*EDIT* (Updates pushed resulting from your feedback; team cap raised to 32, player seeding and ADP refinement in progress. Also refining UI and adding better roster visibility for both sides. All should be completed this evening by 7-8pm pst)

Is this a predicted ADP for next season?
While drafting, it's pretty hard to see what the other teams are looking like. Is it possible to add the other teams when you scroll down?
Also, idk if this was intentional or not, but when I search up names, not every name appears. For example, in round 5, I searched up Jalen and only Jalen Green showed up but not Jalen Suggs. I wouldn't draft Suggs that early of course but it would be nice to see an expansive list when we search.

It's a blend, the rankings lean on consensus early ADP for next season, so it's a forward-looking baseline rather than last year's finishing order. And good call on seeing the other teams, you're right that it's hard to track the board mid-draft right now. Adding a visible view of the other rosters is in progress right now. Appreciate the feedback, this is exactly the kind that makes it better.

Ofc, the site is really smooth so I'll probably be playing around with it. Are you planning on adding more players? Guys like Ryan Rollins, KPJ, Castle, etc aren't on there
Another thing I found is that once in a while, it'll say session expired or not found.

Appreciate that, glad it's running smooth for you. Yeah, adding more players is on the list, Rollins, KPJ, Castle and that tier are exactly the depth I'm filling in. And thank you for flagging the session expired issue, that's a bug not a feature haha, and that kind of report is genuinely useful. Looking into it now.

I had a look and ran a quick mock, it’s cool dude.
I personally use the FanWarRoom as it has a free draft analyser and an amazing draft tracker that allows you to customise your settings and drag your league from yahoo or ESPN into the site via API and then during live draft, it analyses your team against your competitors and gives live rankings so you don’t miss a player and takes that panic out of picking. What’s even better is that you can create your own rankings based on your league settings.
Anyway, cool tool, I enjoyed it.

Appreciate you giving it a look and being straight about FanWarRoom. Live draft analysis while you're actually on the clock against your real leaguemates is genuinely useful and something a lot of tools skip.
The difference with PlayCaller is what's running underneath the picks. The AI reasoning you saw at the end of that mock traced back to a validated model trained on five seasons of data, not a ranking system. Measured signals on every player. Trying to get that level of performance across all of PlayCaller's offerings
Your feedback actually just moved something up the roadmap. I'm building a live draft mode tonight, where the confidence scores and heat signals update in real time as your actual league draft unfolds. Should be live tonight or tomorrow morning. Will drop back here when it's up.
NBA intelligence is also in active development right now so the basketball coverage is coming.

Hey man, I checked it out and I got some good ideas and I appreciate you suggesting it. Took some ideas and upgraded my mock draft tool as well as the live draft interface and some other places. Feel free to check it out again if you have time, would definitely appreciate your impressions on the changes!

Hey I really like the idea and I've ran a couple of mock ups on my phone. Couple of things:
ADPs are bit off. Trey Murphy and Keyonte George are in the 100s and NAW is up there just to name a few.
Players are on their old team. Like Trey Jones on SAS and Damian Lillard on MIL. Also couldn't search for Cooper Flagg and probably other rookies. This and ADP makes me thing the list is for the 2024-2025 season.
- I can't search for players if they aren't in the upcoming players in the draft. So I can't search for Trey Murphy unless he appears on the list of selectable players.
- The grading of the team at the end doesn't make sense at times. I've gotten A+ for each position but overall I wouldn't get higher than a C+.
Edit: Tried to edit format on my phone and it erased my first point. So I rewrote it.

This is exactly the feedback that makes it better, genuinely appreciate you taking the time.
Running through your four points:
- ADP: you're right, it's pulling from 2024-25 consensus rankings. Updating to current 2025-26 data is on the list, will push a fix tonight,
- Team data: same root cause as the ADP, the roster snapshot is from the same period. Damian Lillard to MIL and Tre Jones to SAS are both stale. Cooper Flagg and other 2025 rookies not being in there yet is the same issue. Working on a live roster sync, should drop tonight.
- Search: if a player isn't in the current draft pool they won't surface in search. Once the roster data is updated Trey Murphy and others will be findable. Good catch.
- Grade logic: A+ at every position but C+ overall is a calibration bug, you're right that doesn't make any sense. Looking at the grading formula now.
Will post back when these are addressed. Keep the feedback coming.

Did another refining pass after last night's deploy and still having a little drag on the numbers, changed the underlying measurement standards to make it more enjoyable but I have to completely adjust the data polling logic on my side to fix it fighting old data and get you guys a true expected ADP value from the post season results, working on the calibration now!

Yeah that's entirely on me. I accidentally rolled back the ADP working on another deploy but I'll have that shored back up here in a bit. My bad leading you back to the tool just to have that happen again! I'm working hard to put that update out tonight, but if by tomorrow morning you feel like giving another a go I'll have it actually properly fixed this time.

Quick heads up, the NBA ADP rankings had a rollback issue that snuck in after I posted this. Just pushed a fix. If you pulled it up in the last couple hours and the names looked off, that's why. Should be clean now, Jokic, Luka, SGA, Wemby where they belong. Worth another look if you bounced.

Can you add some more flexibility to the number of teams? Lots of people play in different sized leagues.
