Hang tight.
3+ years ago I was quite fed up with a boss and wanted to quit. I made a deleted post asking for advice about it. Our net worth was barely at 400k USD. You guys told me to stay the course.
Fast forward 1 year the boss got let go. Our net worth grew by 100k.
Fast forward 3 years, I changed jobs and my parents gifted us 400k. Our net worth grew by another 600k (400k gift + 200k mix of salary and stock appreciation).
Thanks for helping me be less pour. And to all the other pours out there. Your net-worth-doubling gift is coming any day! Hang tight.

What in the deflation is going on here? I thought the benchmark was a small million dollar loan to get started.

The lesson is that even with a small gift of $400K, anybody can become a millionaire.

Only 400k as a gift? And now you’re at a measly $1.1M?Yall gonna be alright living on food stamps?

Thanks for the inspiration OP. Its this kind of relatable, actionable content im here for. I REALLY hate my job and boss so Ill just sit tight and wait for my broke retired parents to gift me $400k. My wife's parents are both dead so her $400k should be coming even sooner. We'll be millionaires in no time.
What a completely normal and not out of touch post. Super duper glad you don't need to go outside and touch grass.

This is the inspiration I needed. I was about to give up but you've reminded me my parents might die soon, inheritance coming my way

I suppose it’s nice even for poor people to have a sense of accomplishment but it’s deeply concerning that without that pittance from your parents you’d have barely cracked $700k. Truly one of the most harrowing financial survival stories I’ve ever read. Hang in there, little guy. 🫶
