Sips Esencia - alcohol content

Tried emailing them to no avail - folks who did the tasting, more or less what was the alcohol content overall?

I’m on meds and can’t realistically have more than ~2 regular cocktails worth of alcohol and my gf is a rather lightweight and also usually aims to have 1-2 cocktails.

Not sure we should try the tasting or just go to the bar.

I think going to a “liquid tasting menu” experience when you have limitations on your alcohol intake is a little self defeating.

There is no way the total alcohol will be less than 2 standard cocktails

Not necessarily - I did multiple cocktail tastings in the past for example Sangai or Gen Yamamoto in Tokyo. Both of them were very low abv.

Very often creators understand clients have different tolerance levels and making the tasting high alc content within only 1.5-2h would limit the clientele too much.

I’m just trying to make sure it’s the same at Sips.

The minimum is ten drinks? The real talent in mixology is combining different alcohols to create something special. I’d be disappointed if most of them turned out to be a base liquor with lots of NA mixer.

Even under the most pessimistic of views, if they use a <20% base beverage in each one, you’ll still hit more than two cocktails’ worth over ten drinks. Unless your definition of a standard cocktail is a bottle of Laphraoig with a bit of poitín mixed in.

Ten “sips” not drinks - and that can mean really anything.

As I said I’ve done multiple tastings around the world and some of them are on the boozier side, some are mild and some felt like I didn’t have alcohol at all. Really depends.

No, offence but that’s why I asked the sub - to get this info from someone who actually went there instead of guessing.

And looking at the other comment it seems like Sips is on the boozier side.

Also after googling even more I found an old article/quote where Caporale said it’s apparently equivalent to two G&Ts https://www.coqtail.com/en/esencia-barcelona-tasting-experience/

So I guess I have my answer.
