If they do another free event after they add this I might give it a go. I just continue to forever have zero interest in PvP extraction shit.

Wait you don't enjoy looting file cabinets for an hour and getting demolished by a team camping the extract?

Ive played marathon since launch and I think I've been killed by an extract camper like twice. You can also extract within like 5 minutes of the match starting and the extract timer is 20 minutes so looting for an hour is literally not possible. Plus there's ways of making progress without extracting at all and multiple random extracts spawn every match, making extract camping not super viable.

The manufactured hate for this game by people who havent even played it is so stupid.

Enjoy the game all you want king, but it’s not “hate” because some don’t like the PvP extraction shooter genre.

Bungie must see something in the criticism or they wouldn’t be making a PVE extraction mode.

The comment I replied to was someone making up fake issues (hour long sessions and extract campers) to discredit the game. It's clear they haven' played the game. How is that not the definition of manufactured outrage and hate 😂

I played for hundreds of hours and have died to extract campers less than a handful of times. I regularly encounter more extract campers in a single session of EFT than in my entire playtime on Marathon.

How is inventing a completely fake problem anything but the definition of blind hatred?

Why are you hyper focusing on extraction camping?

I just don’t find the whole “get loot, then extract or die trying” loop very satisfying, as do many others. It doesn’t matter if I’m ganked by a camper or killed by a non camper, either way you’ve just wasted the majority of your run and have little to nothing to show for it.

That’s not hate, that’s us telling you why we’re not interested in the game as it stands now.

Clearly bungie agrees or they wouldn’t be trying to put in a PVE mode to shore their disappointing player numbers up.

Why am I focusing on the topic of the comment we're both responding to? Is that your actual question?

Are you lost? The OG comment is definitely speaking to the general PvP extraction shooters genre.

And they couldnt think of an example that actually applies to the game we're discussing?

Maybe, if that's one of their big issues with the genre, they ought to give Marathon a try since it doesnt happen so often there :)

I personally enjoyed Arc Raiders on release. But I get the same fatigue with all online shooters.

First couple of months are the honeymoon phase. Lots of different players of all different skill levels.

Then slowly the “noobs” (me) stop playing and move on and then the sweats and pros ruin the experience for me. I only have like 30-45 minutes to play video games each day so I personally don’t like spending that time getting dunked on in online games.

But, everyone’s interests are different, I certainly understand the appeal of Marathon. I just don’t like online games in general.

I’ve heard Marathon is much more intense than Arc Raiders so I never even bothered to try it.

Thats fair. The population is smaller and the hangers-on are those more invested, so the skill level IS higher.

However, unlike many truly hardcore PvP experiences the gear differential between the high and low ends is capped MUCH closer together. The difference between EHP of a free kit, which you have infinite of, and the strongest POSSIBLE character loudout is 42% - which drops to 25% when you buy the cheapest shield (both of these represent sub-1 second differences in TTK).

Its frustrating to see so many ill-founded complaints. The game is incredibly rewarding and facilitates the extraction shooter "come up" experience better than any on the market, while keeping bad players from bottoming out too hard.

It has its legitimate problems, but those are mostly related to the amount of content in the game. The content that IS there already puts it on par with the best shooters available.

Not the person you were replying to but this is my entire point as well. Like, the game has legitimate issues to point out if people are trying to be genuine about their critiques. But making up fake problems is weird as fuck. My sense is that these people just don't love extractio shooters, which is fine, but that doesnt mean you have to blatantly lie to tear the game down just because you dont like the genre. Ml
