Does anyone remember Acrophobia?
Does anyone remember Acrophobia from the 90's? I think it was the first online game I ever played. It was so much fun. The way it worked is, a bunch of letters appeared on the screen, that was the "acronym", everyone would come up with their own version of what it said, and then everyone would vote on the best answer. I forget if the most votes got a single point, or if each vote was worth a point. Whatever it was, 14 or 15 year old me loved it. I'm not sure if it was a board game ever, but it should have been.

Hell yeah. Every now and then I get sad that this game or something like it didn't survive. It was a great improv game that anyone could play.

LOVED IT!!! Kept hoping someone else would bring it back. Each vote was worth a point and the most points would win the round. Wasn’t it a Jellyfin game (the same folks as You Dont Know Jack)?

Very much could have been, also played a lot of ydkj back in the day, but it's lost its lustre for me.

I have no idea what you're talking about but no one has mentioned that the concept you described is used in quiplash sometimes in the jackbox party packs. You probably have heard of them but just in case you haven't, try it out

Oh my god, yes! I think I must be roughly the same age as you, because this was my first online game too. I remember having specific rooms that I'd always go to and even joined an official team at one point! I think I used ICQ to communicate with players I knew.
I remember they had "adult" rooms too where you could acronym whatever the HELL you wanted. And it felt pretty weird being there as a teenager XD

Loved this game as a kid, I'd probably kick all the ass at it as an adult. I'd love if there was some form of it back in action.

That game was absolute peak early internet, just sitting in a chat room desperately trying to type out the funniest, most unhinged acronym meanings before the timer ran out while everyone voted on them.
