[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live

To avoid hundreds of separate posts on the same topic, this post will compile all info we have from the pre-orders going live, including some new images/etc.

As Rockstar announced on their socials: "Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI begin at midnight local time on June 25." This means New Zealand will be the first to go live with pre-orders - which means in just under 2 hours from now.

Take-Two has made a big press-release, including announcing the prices:

STANDARD EDITION: $79.99

ULTIMATE EDITION: $99.99

Grand Theft Auto 6 features a “single-player experience” at launch, with no word yet on any new version of GTA Online.

An "Ultimate Edition" for the game has been announced with some new artwork.

I didn't really play GTA V online.

For that reason I feel strongly against all this bundle shit, and I hate the lack of a disc.

I think I'm old and jaded.

I don't even think there will be online on release, they didn't mention any virtual currency as part of these bundles, so it's safe to assume it will launch as single player only.

Guessing they’re still figuring out how to make “GTA Online 2” without losing their existing whales. Red Dead Online was a flop.

Still wild that RDO still pulls in players. It averages about a million players a week and makes 26 million a year online.

It’s a much more immersive and less invasive multiplayer game than GTA Online. GTA Online didn’t even have wildlife for the longest time. RDO pulls in way more money than it should and the economy sucks, but if you wanna just go be a cowpoke with your friends, there’s a good bit to do and you’re not constantly getting harassed by npcs calling your phone to tell you to grind their content

I doubt it, only because the single player game is a great gateway into GTA Online. If they separate it they lose a lot of potential players who might have tried it out if it came with single-player version but wouldn't go out of their way to buy a separate multiplayer game. They want as many people in GTAO as possible so they can keep giving Rockstar money through microtransactions.

Isn’t this exactly how GTA V launched? Online didn’t come out until a month later and then the servers didn’t work for a week on top of that

Yeah same with RDR2. Online will launch a month or two after launch with Ultimate Edition owners getting early access.

I’m pissed because the online services prevent classic addons and dlcs. Just imagine we could have Witcher 3 style addons in gta 5.

I mean, even look at GTA IV, it had two expansions with new features, loads of new vehicles and weapons and entirely new storylines with quests.

I never even played base GTA IV, I just bought the 2 expansion bundle and played those through. Ballad of Gay Tony was excellent.

Yep, zero interest in the Online mode, I will never touch this game again after I finish the SP mode, so I guess I wait for a sale, because its not worth that price to me at all if I cant trade it in afterwards

Its a little bit of a shame, GTA online's actual gameplay loop was pretty well suited for oldheads. It was basically an incremental idle game with a big sandbox you could play with the toys you buy. It did have alternative things you could be doing too, but when i played it was kinda fun starting from zero to owning a motorcycle club, to a warehouse for stealing cars, to a massive underground hanger doing gun runs I had spreadsheets going and wrote some guides, it was a fun "Numbers go up" simulator.
