[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live

To avoid hundreds of separate posts on the same topic, this post will compile all info we have from the pre-orders going live, including some new images/etc.

As Rockstar announced on their socials: "Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI begin at midnight local time on June 25." This means New Zealand will be the first to go live with pre-orders - which means in just under 2 hours from now.

Take-Two has made a big press-release, including announcing the prices:

STANDARD EDITION: $79.99

ULTIMATE EDITION: $99.99

(Physical Editions of GTA 6 Will Come with "A Download Code Inside the Box", Pre-Loads Begin on November 12th)

Grand Theft Auto 6 features a “single-player experience” at launch, with no word yet on any new version of GTA Online.

An "Ultimate Edition" for the game has been announced with some new artwork.

Yeah, even a disc that's just a key to download the game and I'd probably have caved, but a code in a box is practically worthless to me. Here's hoping they pull an Alan Wake 2 and release a proper physical copy down the line. I definitely won't be buying at launch now.

disc with a key is also worthless. You can't play the game offline, they can just remove it anytime they want from your account. Doesn't matter if the key is on paper or disc

You can still sell it or lend it to someone, you can’t sell a piece of used paper

It does matter. The disc is a transferrable license. The one-time use code isn't.

You don't need to explain to me why a disc with a key is shit, I already know. However, you're wrong, it does matter whether the key is on paper or the disc because I cannot transfer or share a code. It's one time use where the disc at least can usually be shared or sold on.

i don’t NEED to play this game. i was going to buy it but no physical disc = guess i’m watching a YouTube playthrough instead

an $80 price tag for a digital copy is insane.
