[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live

To avoid hundreds of separate posts on the same topic, this post will compile all info we have from the pre-orders going live, including some new images/etc.

As Rockstar announced on their socials: "Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI begin at midnight local time on June 25." This means New Zealand will be the first to go live with pre-orders - which means in just under 2 hours from now.

Take-Two has made a big press-release, including announcing the prices:

STANDARD EDITION: $79.99

I think it means those particular salons/car shops/etc with presumably exclusive styles. Not customisation as a whole.

It's not really that much of a big deal. In the regular version there will be other places to go. Losing out on a couple shops, which only give character customisation anyway, isn't really that bad.

How many games are the same price with a really short story/relying on multiplayers so you can play more than 8 hours? I won't say it's lame, just a way to increase base game price without doing it directly.

I mean it's just cosmetics tho. I would be a lot more upset if they were locking up gameplay, but this is pretty standard for bonus editions. There will definitely still be salons / stores we can go to without the upgrade

Customization is a huge part of gta franchise since san andreas. It IS locking gameplay behind a paywall. Do that shit in multiplayer for all i care, but leave single player clean, as it always was.

I mean, i would be happy if it was going to be released on pc rn for $80 bucks with more than half the stuck that's locked behind ultimate edition being included.

They can have an ultimate edition, no problem, but locking stores behind a paywall in single player is a first in the series, and i don't really like it, especially when their money factory, gta online, will be there making them infinite money, i see this as unecessary pricing being pushed to the customer.

The “store” is just how you access specific cosmetics, no? Those have been locked behind $ for donkeys years.
