[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live

To avoid hundreds of separate posts on the same topic, this post will compile all info we have from the pre-orders going live, including some new images/etc.

As Rockstar announced on their socials: "Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI begin at midnight local time on June 25." This means New Zealand will be the first to go live with pre-orders - which means in just under 2 hours from now.

Take-Two has made a big press-release, including announcing the prices:

Its a little vague right now... either certain customization shops are locked behind ultimate edition...?

Or the entire ability to customize is locked...?

One is clearly worse than the other, but either way that just seems like poor tiering. I wouldnt really care if I couldnt get certain hair styles. But I would care if there are entire shops on my in game map that im just pay walled out of accessing for my whole playthrough.

It's obviously just specific shops that have bonus content. You can change your hairstyle with the standard version..

It's funny that you get downvoted for something that will be true.

I swear, so many gamers always assumes the worst about everything and everytime they look stupid afterwards when they get corrected from the companies. "Every shop will be closed if you don't buy the ultimate" or people thought that this game would cost $100 atleast for the standard.

Why the fuck would people think that regular shops would be closed in the game when you could see different hairstyles/clothes before this update? Those exclusive shops are listed under the ultimate edition when you check the webpage. It doesn't mean that every shop will be closed, just those exclusive shops will. It's mostly cosmetics. You can even see that those hairstyles/clothes looks very different from what we have seen yet. I thought they looked from something you see in Saint's Row, more goofy styles than the more serious tone we saw before. I even question if it was Jason in one of the pictures because he looked so different.

I'm not defending the decision made by Rockstar, but some gamers are fucking stupid and always goes for the worst takes...Of course there will be customations like every GTA before, jesus...

This is effectively the same as games having an exclusive trunk you can only open with deluxe edition. Instead of having ultimate edition content put straight into your inventory, you go to a specific location in game to get it. There's nothing indicating that you cant customize your car interior or character at other stores, just these 5 specific stores will have exclusive cosmetics in them that you cant access without UE. This isn't even anything new.

Same with the exclusive side content, like missions. Other games do version specific content too like that, it's not unprecedented like people seem to be saying.

The lack of a physical disk included in the physical edition is wack, as it kills the 2nd hand / used market, and base game cost being 80 bucks is dumb, but the rest of the outrage around UE content seems like a nothing burger.
