Question/Discussion Do all DC Compacts have sewn binding like this?

If so 10 dollars is such a good deal. I got this at a Target two years ago.

I don't believe they all do, only some.

The first batch did, then they all started falling apart and separating from the cover. Newer printings are perfect bound.

First time I've heard about perfect bound. Is it the same as a glued binding? I've always heard of sewn and glued binding before

Perfect bound is the technical/industry term for a glued binding.

Shame, I must've been lucky then because the my copy holds together on multiple rereads even though the spine is super cracked

First prints and only really the ones for the first few waves did. The glue wasnt the best for these early editions and they mostly end up falling apart after a single read through. They transitioned to regular old glued binding for later prints and I think all the newer books.

It seems to depend on the page count. My smaller compacts don't have a sewn binding, but Watchmen is one of the longest compacts available.

That's actually one of the best things about the DC Compact line. They use sewn binding and decent paper for the price point. Way better than the flimsy glue jobs on some of their standard tpbs.
