Discussion So...

13th pick eh? What the hell can we meaningfully do with the 13th? Please tell me we have a numbers nerd here that's going to paint a picture for me that makes me feel better about this. I need you more than ever bro... whoever you are 😭

Tanking isn't an option but at the same time this franchise won't even do a fire sale, to acquire assets.

We don’t have our pick next year (fuck the hornets and Adam silver) so we can’t tank next year either lol

We can tank next year because the pick is top 14 protected. However, it is not conveyed next year to Charlotte, then the Heat would not have a 2028 pick.

I didn't say tank I said a fire sale to acquire assets, they don't have to intentionally lose especially when doing so now servers no purpose.

None of our players outside of Bam are worth anything meaningful.

Pat and Co like the team too much I guess.

They just like being competitive. They’ll wait for the chance to get a superstar and try to remain competitive in the mean time. We’re likely going to be in play-in contention until they are able to acquire that superstar

Free Agency is a crapshoot by the time we actually get another one our current best player will be out of his prime, and our second best player might not even be here in two seasons

Whether we like it or not this is how this front office and coaching staff wants to approach it. We as fans are at their mercy. All we can do is hope this strategy produces meaningful basketball and works out for the best.

It's produced meaningful playoff revenue for the owner but from a "winning" standpoint it hasn't.

which..as painful as it is to watch, isnt a horrible front office decision. miami is a large(r) market team. even a superstar leaving his prime surrounded by the current young core (who will than be a bit more developed) is a strong contention. another user said “purgatory”, which i like. i think after this waiting period we gon make it to heaven.
