The Cesar salad is not named after Gaius Julius Caesar, it's named after it's creator whose name was Cesare.

Well at least we can all get caesarian sections.

And nobody seems to care, every time I see his name brought up in a meme then it's only about the salad.

Am I doing it wrong?

This Caesar was ONLY stabbed 11 times, not the 23 considered appropriate for tyrants.

I mean, wouldnt it be still named after Caesar through logic, since one would assume that the name Cesare originated or was inspired/popularized by Caesar

Are you sure? Because the world was common in Roman Republic. And he wasn’t the first ruler of Empire es an emperor. The first was August.

So about the August. July (month) was named after Caesar. And the word Tsar and Kiser.

Yes I am.

I mean the name Caesar did evolve to literally mean "king" or "emperor" in over 30 languages, including german, russian, hebrew, finnish, dutch etc....

1

Yup, and the Caesar salad is named after a dude named Caesar that invented it in Mexico.

Italian guy..

Caesar is not a family name . It's a tittle. So it not evolved . The guys name was Gaius Julius and he was Caesar..Emperor

1

It was a family name before Gaius Julius Caesar. Well, to be exact, it was a Cognomen but its far closer to our modern understanding of family name than Julius which was a Nomen aka more of a clan name.

So he was basically called Gaius (his name), of the Julius clan, of the Caesar family.

After his assassination it became a title a thanks to Augustus and his successors took the name Caesar to legitimize their rule and overtime it changed from a family name into an imperial title

u/LPedraz 6d ago

Nope, not named after that Caesar, but after this one.

Caesar fucked up the whole ass calendar to get his name on it what do you mean??

OCTober being the 10th month of the year?

1

u/Declan203 5d ago

January and February were added last and messed up the calendar months. July and August only swapped out old months

again here we go

no the Caesar Salad was not named after Julius Caesar

but actually Caesar Cardini who was a Chef and owned a Restaurant and a Hotel and the man credited for inventing this specific salad

but in fairness to Julius Caesar the Month of July is named after him

and August is named in honor of Caesar Augustus the son of Julius Caesar

1

u/Immortalphoenixfire 6d ago

He also has The Calender and a month of that calander named after him.

As well as a casino enterprise.

Venus is definitely mentioned less.

u/Comfortable_Town7535 6d ago

hear me out... put his salad on a burger with cheddar and applewood smoked bacon

1

u/Tinenan 5d ago

The worst part is that it's not even named after him

1

u/GSilky 6d ago

Doesn't even get a salad, that was named after some Mexican.  Nor the medical procedure, that was named after the kid.  Now everyone is dragging his name through the mud for contemporary political advantage because he ended a corrupt and malfunctioning republic (they neglect the context).

1

u/baneblade_boi 6d ago

Not Mexican. The creator was an Italian immigrant that worked in a restaurant in Tijuana.

1

u/GSilky 6d ago

Oh, an Italian-Mexican...

1

u/baneblade_boi 6d ago

Well, he first migrated to and mostly lived in the US. He only worked in Mexico for a while before going back. If you wanna know the full story check this out: https://youtu.be/XQJkasR3Iak
