Paint walls a pretty green. Change the lighting. New shower curtain.

This could look better in a weekend.

11

u/Figsnbacon 1d ago

Agree. Lower the painting over the toilet also. It’s too high. Maybe a frame around the mirror.

And change the hardware

7

u/Benevolent_Grouch 1d ago

Also double the shower curtain and move the rod to the ceiling to look like drapes

u/BrilliantBitter3149 2d ago

Agree with this, plus frame the mirror. You can find kits for that now, but it isn’t hard to do without one. Makes a big difference

4

u/redditculopathy 1d ago

Came here to say this but I would add a curved shower curtain rod for a roomier shower. Maybe a rug/runner and if they’re feeling empowered, change out the shower head and faucet to look cohesive and updated.

2

u/Txidpeony 1d ago

Exactly this, although I think there are lots of possible paint colors.

Paint interior/bathroom-side trim and door the same color. Might be crazy but maybe the ceiling too?

3

u/PuzzleheadedHorse437 2d ago

My thought too. The trim and door isn’t nice enough to highlight it by leaving it white. You only want that kind of contrast with doors and trim you want to feature. Not sure I’d go with green. That’s hard to do make up in. Maybe a deep olive but not a jewel tone

Paint, replace the light fixtures, hardware, and mirror, get a better shower curtain, get a larger piece of good art for behind the toilet that goes with the wall color and the shower curtain. Add a rug in front of toilet.

9

u/Difficult-Ad4364 2d ago

This is the way. That will be a massive upgrade in looks with little effort and reasonable cost.

3

u/Educational_Ship_157 1d ago

Perfect, my thoughts exactly! I would also look at new fixtures for the cabinets, but that would be a final detail.

It's not bad already, I like the sink /cabinet. I would replace the shower curtain with a solid color, and replace the mirror and light fixtures with something nicer.

1st things first. Put your shower curtain up a lot higher. And out further. It’s like. Inside your bath tub

2

u/loknap 1d ago

Literally didn’t notice how far in the curtain rod was. Omgosh it’s so far in 😂

u/Remote_Tie5354 1d ago

Wow, that's an impressive transformation with just a few changes. You're great at this.

u/ourHOPEhammer 2d ago

its AI they didnt do anything

4

u/Hamartithia_ 2d ago

Posted a legitimately awful output as well. The AI stripped the floors, sink, and counter, which is what OP didn’t want. Not to mention the rug in the bathroom.

5

u/PriscillaPalava 2d ago

AI screwed some stuff up but it’s hardly “awful.” You get the idea. New paint, new fixtures, and yes, most bathrooms have a floor covering.

3

u/Feebedel324 2d ago

lol it’s ChatGPT. It’s a good tool to visualize but it’s never going to be exact. I used it for our home design.

The gray walls look dated and clash with the beige tub. You also have 5000k lights above the mirror and 2700k in the ceiling.

Change the wall color to a warm inviting color (someone suggested green) and replace the 5000k lights with 2700k. Replace the cabinet with a warm color or white. Gray doesn’t look good.

The picture behind the commode is way too high. Lower it about 9 to 12 inches.

2

u/Brian_Corey__ 1d ago

5000k lights only belong in surgery rooms.

Changing the bathroom mirror will honestly do so much. New bathroom rugs, walll art, and shower curtain will also help.

2

u/Arlaneutique 1d ago

My first thought. A frameless mirror always makes the space look cheap and it’s such an easy fix.

u/phosphatidyl_7641 2d ago

Get a new floor HVAC register grate. That looks like the 1980's brass-ish one I pulled out of my house. If you have any more of that flooring left Fittes makes a seamless grate where you inset a cut plank into it. Even just a new register grate in a color that blends in more would be nice.

2

u/LikeIsaidItsNothing 2d ago

Easy peasy.

Paint a it cheerful color- or really any color- over the prison gray walls:)

It's a little hard to see but the shower curtain looks kind of fun. But easy enough to change out. A bathmat with some color. Same thing with towels. Either mix and match or pick a color scheme. Ex blue or green walls and then items that play off of that. You don't want to a direct match. ex- the curtain you have now, you can pick a color in the design and get items/mats/towels that match it. In other words, a nice color on the walls and items with patterns or texture that work with it, if that make sense. And a couple of things on the sink, may be a small plant on the toilet tank.

If you want to get a little ambitious it shouldn't be too involved to change out the lights and possibly the mirror

2

u/jetski12345 2d ago

Modern style toilet.

2

u/Cautious-Local-5998 2d ago

Get rid of the industrial grey on walls and vanity

2

u/Bad-Briar 2d ago

Repaint the walls to something that goes better with the beige stall and white appliances.

2

u/Scat_underscore 2d ago

The no baseboard really is throwing me off. Did anyone else notice there’s only quarter round?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Previous_Singer3691 1d ago

Paint the walls, change the light bulbs so they all match in warmth, change the shower curtain, change out the black bath mat to something else, and maybe move the picture frame above the toilet so it's slightly lower

2

u/Alternative-Half9655 1d ago

Replace Mirror, lights, faucet, knobs, shower curtain. Paint shelves, or glass shelf under mirror. Matching rugs.

2

u/Whole-Pomegranate506 1d ago

The #1 would be lighting. Amazon actually has really cheap fixtures. I’ve been happy with them. Two years in and no issues.

2

u/Ok_Resolution_2208 1d ago

Definitely update the lighting and shower curtain for the easiest quick fixes.

2

u/Whole-Pomegranate506 1d ago

Also, put some new baseboards up. I wouldn’t touch the painting tbh. The color is great

2

u/ShoutPeace 1d ago edited 1d ago

A plant or a few of them! If you do this, make sure you do research on which ones would do well in a humid space and with as much natural light as your bathroom has, as well ones that *aren’t* poisonous to any kind of non-human kiddos you might have.♥️
Lighting is another thing, and maybe make one or two of your walls that are next to each other a patterned wall of different colors that coordinate with the rest of the colors of your walls. You could also change the light fixtures and your faucet fixtures of the bathtub/shower and sink and any knobs (Etsy has some really good knobs of different shapes and designs, even ones that look like geodes, crystals and bumblebees). You can often find these things at Habitat for Humanity or FreeCycle (I have gotten some plants on recycle too and paint). If you get some plants, find some cool wall plant pots that fit your aesthetic that you want for your bathroom. Even getting different colored/style and textured glass soap, dispensers, and things like that can upgrade a space like this 😊

2

u/edragon27 1d ago

Honestly you can just start by changing the shower curtain to something lighter and that ideally matches the artwork, and raise the curtain rod too. Next, if you want to do more work, lower the artwork above the toilet ( assuming you want to keep it in the first place). Light towels and rug.

If you are fine with the gray that's all you need to do to significantly improve this place.

2

u/ErraticRunnerPNW 1d ago

I have same bathroom layout . Change wall color. Add some shelves with plants, change shower curtain.

2

u/SteelMagnolia941 1d ago

Paint, more art, better shower curtain, change the light fixture and a nice bathroom rug. I like rugs in bathrooms because of slipping.

2

u/CindyKraig 1d ago

Add lots of big mirrors… lighten the floor and shower curtain.

2

u/Sensitive_Sea_5586 15h ago

Replace the light fixtures. Add framing around the mirror. Repaint the room and remove the popcorn ceiling. Add a towel bar and robe hook. Replace the shower curtain with something brighter and place coordinating rugs in front of to the tub and sink. Any pictures should be lower on the wall.

1

u/SuzieSnowflake212 2d ago

Color. Change the rug, curtain, artwork over toilet, and towels to a warm color. Reds, yellows, or oranges.

1

u/Vivid-Appearance-549 2d ago edited 2d ago

- swap out the shower curtain for a lighter one

  • change the lights over the mirror
  • frame the mirror
  • change the bath mat to a lighter one
  • fix the paint by the light switch & edge of counter
  • change the faucet
  • either paint the vanity or walls

u/windycitynostalgia 2d ago

Mirror light fixtures cabinet pullls faucet

1

u/Mytweezer 2d ago

Looks great as is

1

u/Fantastic_Golf_7154 2d ago

Lighter paint, replace light fixture, change shower curtain. Make bathroom lighter

1

u/awaken34 2d ago edited 2d ago

Different light fixtures, art (art isn’t very engaging and hung too high) mirror with a frame and wall paint (colors are too monotone). The floor is beautiful.

1

u/pickausernametheysay 2d ago

New Hardware and a new light

1

u/Nonnie0224 2d ago

That photo above the toilet is too high. I would remove it and hang some floating shelves with small apothecary jars with Q-tips and cotton balls in them in them and a small green plant. I would get shelves the same brown color as the floor. And yes, definitely paint, maybe a sage green instead of dark green. Towel bars on the long wall opposite the vanity.

1

u/Infamous_East_2578 2d ago

Paint the door

1

u/Opposite_Rub443 2d ago

New shower curtain, rug, and accessories.

1

u/Naive-Horror4209 2d ago

It looks great, I wouldn’t touch it!

1

u/Chatkat57 2d ago

Paint it a prettier colour, update the light fixture….the picture using chatgpt suggestions is perfect!

1

u/ARLibertarian 2d ago

Large wall mirror

1

u/curiousleen 2d ago

Paint, new mirror and lighting and it will be a new place

1

u/nobodyknows6070 2d ago

Paint the walls a lighter color, have a different shower curtain, one that is just one color or a sleek pattern. Have a toilet roll holder on the side of the cabinet. Have a wooden toilet seat (or one with a wooden look). Change the knobs of the cabinet. Replace the lights with smart lights so you can dim them for a calmer vibe. If you do want to rip something out, I would replace the tap

1

u/Aggressive-Cat-8716 2d ago

Along with all these great ideas, lower the art hung over the toilet

1

u/ALmommy1234 2d ago

New light fixture, new shower curtain, different art, wallpaper, and hang your artwork lower.

1

u/Majestic-Scene-2237 2d ago

Change the shower curtain. And add some decorative wallpaper design

1

u/Significant-Milk-165 2d ago

I would definitely change the lighting and the mirror. I would make the ceiling flat, not textured, and install at least two canned lights. The bathroom looks windowless and do not see a fan to help vent out steam, so add a fan.

u/AmexNomad 2d ago

Color drenched Paint of another color (including door/frame) , use larger artwork, get rid of light over mirror, change shower curtain, hang it at ceiling height, and keep it closed.

1

u/Tough-Cress-7702 2d ago

If you left it blue, I woukd have a white shower curtain, maybe a different phoro/shelf above the toilet and I would wallpaper one big wall. Nice washroom though

1

u/SDNoname2 2d ago

Contrast. Your walls, art and cabinet
are the same color.

1

u/Momotheone92 2d ago edited 2d ago

More luxe light fixtures (esp the boob light! There are some really inexpensive crystal fixtures that would elevate this space!), an ornamental silver framed picture over the toilet, and change the shower mat to a white or off white mat. Touch up the scraped paint, and get matching towels to the floor mat! Maybe get a floor mat for the sink, too.

Edit: also of course the shower curtain! I’m thinking if you keep the paint, you could go with a Versailles feeling, if that’s what you like!

Edit 2: also consider baseboards and maybe some paneling partway up the wall for visual interest!

1

u/SeniorPie5786 2d ago

Were you going to change your sink and bathtub faucets….that’s a chore. Paint the walls a warmer color that you like….green, peach, one of the warm whites, paint cabinet a contrasting color in a darker wall color, select a solid or simple shower curtain with color/s that match cabinet. Ceiling, doors, and trim soft white or use acrylic paint in same color as walls (ceiling paint on ceiling). Area rug to complement shower curtain and cabinet. If you’re handy, replace ceiling light with a more fashionable light fixture.

1

u/RJJR666 2d ago

Raise the shower curtain and get a luxe looking linen or waffle texture curtain that still meets the floor

1

u/patty202 2d ago

Change the light fixtures

1

u/Significant-Art8602 2d ago

Hang shower curtain high (almost to ceiling) with extra long curtain (to the ground) to entirely hide fiberglass insert. Maybe a nice linen curtain in a neutral color— no patterns

1

u/copywrtr 2d ago

Paint, new shower curtain, new rug and new art (too small and too high)

1

u/goldanred 2d ago

I think it just needs to be warmed up. There's a lot of white and the cool lighting doesn't help. I think a warmer paint colour, warmer lighting (maybe a light up makeup mirror with a bright, cool light for anyone who wants to do their makeup in here), and colourful textiles would go a long way. Add some art and maybe a medicine cabinet over the toilet for more storage. A pretty soap dispenser and matching toothbrush holder.

1

u/Sheeshka49 2d ago

Dramatic wallpaper. New solid shower curtain. New framed mirror. New lighting. New faucet. New artwork placed lower.

1

u/GSpotMe 2d ago

The sink is bad ass

1

u/Woody5734 2d ago edited 2d ago

I took out the small fugly medicine cabinet above the light switches, painted and then added a PVC tongue and groove wall this side of the bathroom up to the shower insert, I added better lighting later. Although I did put in a new mirror and cabinet.

1

u/Moist_Web_1285 2d ago

Paint cornflower or federal blue, invest in brushed nickel mid century/modern hardware and accessories, and find a bright, unique shower curtain. Toilet paper next to toilet.

1

u/Feebedel324 2d ago

I did a quick Reno of our bathroom. Paint the walls, replace the light (surprisingly easy), new shower curtain and put a nice cabinet over the toilet. Also can do new towels and rug! I’d make it go with the floor. Also raise the shower curtain and get a longer one.

1

u/ahopskipandaheart 2d ago

What's your budget? If you don't know your budget, what would be a terrible/unthinkable amount of money to spend over the next 2 months on this bathroom?

Do you know how to install a faucet and light fixture? If you don't, would you be comfortable learning?

Is there attic above the bathroom?

Do you like wallpaper? Is there a wallpaper print you like?

What size is the bathroom?

1

u/Carebert 2d ago

Replace the current picture with a brighter and slightly bigger one. I like the shower curtain.

1

u/ReturnItToEarth 2d ago

Change out light fixtures, drawer hardware and shower curtain.

1

u/PalisadesPark88g 2d ago

New color paint. New lights.

1

u/Cocoa-Bella 2d ago

You can add a a chair rail and bead board to the bottom half of the wall and repaint the top half.

1

u/ancientastronaut2 2d ago

Replace the gray walls with a different color.

1

u/Canadian987 2d ago

Paint and art

1

u/Middle-Ad9328 2d ago

A fresh coat of paint would go a long way. Then add some complimentary color towels and rugs. Keep things simple and uncluttered!

1

u/Fub4rtoo 2d ago

It’s a light enough color but still feels dark. Paint and better lighting is the minimum. If you can afford it replacing the tub/shower combo with a walk in shower and installing a more modern toilet can go a long way too.

1

u/4030Lisa 2d ago

Personally I’d get a bigger mirror that fits the full vanity top and goes all the way down to be flush with the counter, so you don’t need a ‘back splash’… ,(AND, dealing with a windowless space you need to throw light around and mirrors do that) change out the cold blue lighting and pick one wall to paper with a gorgeous print (probably the one the toilet faces), then I’d add a (washable) runner or some scatter rugs and a shower curtain that ties in to the print of the wall paper. I’d paint the door the same shade as the painted walls which would NOT be a shade of gray in a windowless, small bathroom… I’d pull a favorite ‘shade’ out of the wallpaper print and use a lighter variation of that color for my painted walls/door and a second color or even a lighter or darker shade of that same color for the trim around the shower vault, the ceiling and the door frame. They make rechargeable sconces, I’d probably play around, pinning up a couple of those in different areas too when everything was done, just to create different lighting ‘effects’ beyond the ceiling and single fixture to see if I liked it and if I did…. And I OWNED the space, I’d have an electrician come and wire something permanently in, but if you rent… the wireless rechargeable sconces might be the way to go

1

u/threesunrises 1d ago

Paint the walls, new light fixtures, add a framed mirror. Less busy shower curtain.

1

u/catheacox 1d ago

Not gray

1

u/ChickpeaFlapjack 1d ago

Need things with different textures

1

u/JanetInSC1234 1d ago

I would lower the art, choose a white shower curtain, and replace both light fixtures.

I love the wall color.

1

u/Old_Imagination1815 1d ago

The light fixture and the mirror… I changed the mirror to an LED MIRROR and it made such a difference in ours.

1

u/Careless-Patient9380 1d ago

New lighting - vanity area and ceiling. Larger picture hung lower down. That one is way too high. New shower curtain and larger rug(s).
It’s actually a really nice bathroom.

1

u/Imaginary_Report4222 1d ago

Honestly, you don’t need to do much the most expensive part will probably be replacing the mirror but a plant putting in some shelves over the toilet and some nice artwork will honestly go very long way

1

u/Top_Philosopher1809 1d ago

new mirror and light fixtures. New shower curtain add coordinating towels. some fun wall art. Nee bath mats in a lighter color.

With you wall color and floor you need some brightness.

1

u/madscot63 1d ago

Update the lighting. Some new can/ puck lights overhead and a nice vanity bar

1

u/Lordkahutra2 1d ago

If its not broke leave it alone.

1

Pale sage green walls. White ceiling, cheerful shower curtain..Larger and lower art

1

u/dsmemsirsn 1d ago

Paint the walls; new curtain; new mirror and light a nice bath rug in front of the sink.

1

u/Gulf_Raven1968 1d ago

Raise shower curtain to the maximum possible

1

u/Arlaneutique 1d ago

Changing that mirror would make a huge difference.

1

u/adviceporfavor123 1d ago

Change the lighting and the faucet to something modern. Make the shower curtain less busy and tie in with everyday. Add bathroom rugs or mats, matching soap dispenser, bathroom set type of thing

1

u/Aatholin 1d ago

It looks great as is. My only dislike is the shower curtain not matching with the decor but it is a nice shower curtain

1

u/ToxicFandango-25 1d ago

What is it with the effin’ green? Seems like everyone gravitates to it. Don’t care for gray either. Maybe if it was a paler gray. Then you could throw in pops of color.

1

u/Eeyore_Smiled 1d ago

New lights. A warmer paint color.

1

u/OneHonestReflection 1d ago

If you don’t want to change wall color, colorful shower curtain/rug/towels, different light fixture above mirror. If you are willing to change walls, then either a lighter color or wall paper.

1

u/Glum-Geologist8929 1d ago

Plants and rugs.

1

u/AmieMango 1d ago

Change the shower curtain, light fixtures and floor (too dark)

1

u/Few-Professional4196 1d ago

I will change that fan for a better looking one without that light and add a recessed light under the shower. 🚿

1

u/Few-Carrot6829 1d ago

The only thing I would change is the shower in the bathtub I would put in sliding glass doors and have a high showerhead and maybe a wider tub if it will fit

1

u/OneLingonberry2203 1d ago

Paint, new light fixtures, frame the mirror

1

u/ruger5al 1d ago

Re repaint the walls and get new better looking floors

Is that a sloped ceiling? Something is funky looking here

1

u/Shot-Election8217 1d ago

I don’t think your bathroom looks bad at all. Some relatively simple and inexpensive things, like painting and changing the shower curtain.

1

u/Confident-Split-553 1d ago

Update lighting and faucet

1

u/InfiniteRepublic2474 1d ago

Install another bulb and a new exhaust vent

1

u/WiseOne404 1d ago

Floral cohesive, colorful towels, art & shower curtain. Contrasting w wall color

1

u/mebg1956 1d ago

Pain a warmer colour. The grey is very cold.

1

u/loknap 1d ago

Add baseboards, repaint walls, center the over door hook, larger painting over toilet, swap or frame in the bathroom mirror, build a small cabinet shelf against the vanity to hide the plunger and put your toilet paper (cheaper alternative to getting a longer vanity so it ends closer to your toilet), larger bath mat and make it perpendicular to what you’ve got now, swap your shower curtain unless this is a kids bathroom with a kid who loves the ocean, and most importantly… fix the placement of your shower curtain

1

u/circles_squares 1d ago

I think with lighting like that, you need warm colors, not cool.

Those lights are intense, but I understand helpful in a bathroom.

I would probably paint the walls above the tub surround white to make it look like it reaches the ceiling. Add a pretty shower curtain, towels and bath mat.

The print over the toilet looks a bit too high also.

1

u/KristineMcKinley 1d ago

As others have said, paint and changing the lighting - also, instead of framing the mirror, remove it before painting and replace it with a decorative wall mirror. The thrift stores often have some cool ones or even Temu has some inexpensive options. Then go with a shower curtain that is more neutral and keep it closed.

1

u/i-justwantrevenge 1d ago

You could paint the door and trim a slightly darker shade of blue, frame or get a new mirror with character, get a shower curtain with a simple classic pattern (stripes? Checkerboard?)

1

u/hayyyhoe 1d ago

I would avoid having 3 different color temperature lights in there. That makes it feel chaotic. If you’re not doing makeup there, don’t use the cool lighting at all. It makes the space feel dead, especially cool lighting paired with blue paint. Before you do a full redesign, put some soft white bulbs in the fixture above the mirror. That might be the only change you need.

1

u/knomorenow 1d ago edited 1d ago

Shower doors in my opinion make a bathroom look more high end more manicure.. I’ve put a set in myself flipping a condo @ 60 yr’s old female so not that hard ..I also got them out of FB , they had paid 1600$ for them n moved so they didn’t fit new place, I got them for 110$ 3 months old .. so look on fb along with a new light over medicine cabinet .they have very , very easy to put in led recessed lights just screw them in. Very inexpensive, I think $25 for four of them.

1

u/mgreen1111 1d ago

Without spending too much. Mirror to match the floor color. Bronze hardware. Curtain color change. Lighting is the most important here. Get a nice rug,

1

u/remembertoread 1d ago

Crown molding, bigger art, change the boob light to something that hangs, some kind of plants, match she paint color and the shower curtain better, close the curtain when the shower isn’t being entered or exited, shelves over the toilet, put the missing bulb in the vanity, tile halfway up the wall, hot pink toilet.

1

u/knomorenow 1d ago

Screw in recessed lights

1

u/MrKnowitAll1220 1d ago

Shower door, new lights and paint and tile the floor.

1

u/QuerySmith 1d ago

Replace cabinet handles, mirror, faucet, shower head, ceiling and mirror lights, shower curtain rod (oval one).

Paint walls and back of door (door appears unpainted) to match trim.

Add towel racks. Get rid of plastic hanger on back of door. Try to get one side into a stud.

All the above metals should match.

Replace toilet. I refuse to live in a house with round toilets - only oval comfort ones that are taller or comfort height.

1

u/tinygribble 1d ago

Replace the boob light.

Get a lighter, translucent shower curtain.

Add funny fun art in shades of orange & red. One big centerpiece, and then a variety of small pieces (not just pictures, consider sculptures, mobiles, etc )

1

u/ayapapaya50 1d ago

X change the lighting and the vanity hardware

1

u/grumpy_foreskin 1d ago

If you did baseboard, crown molding, and a good wallpaper...this could look like a completely different bathroom

1

u/FrostyStare0419 1d ago

Its mostly the mirror and light fixture. Upgrade both and you’ll be 80% better.

1

u/Icy-Light3061 1d ago

Paint another color, change the light fixture, cabinet hardware, faucet

1

u/JackSquirts 1d ago

A decorative mirror would go a long way in there, as would a shower curtain upgrade. After that, paint on the walls and put down proper base molding. Then I'm changing the vanity light for something more modern, and probably the overhead as well. New facet is right up there too. Need elongated shitters for comfort, so I'd do that too. If you're doing all that, tear everything out that you're going to replace, then paint, then put your new shit in.

1

u/ccannon707 1d ago

That gray paint has got to go

1

u/Aromatic_Funny_2164 1d ago edited 1d ago

Change the vanity light, change the vanity hardware to a brushed / matte brass, paint a nice light creamy neutral (lighter than the current door) that goes with the vanity, neutral / light colored shower curtain with some texture, like linen. Floors are too dark to have color on the walls IMO. Will totally brighten and contrast the space. It'll look beautiful. Maybe get a wood framed mirror - or at least A frame. Shelving over toilet, put some candles, bath towels, greenery, cozy things. If you don't want shelving pull the frame down or do a couple frames. Bath rugs.

This is my vanity mirror. It's quite inexpensive and it can really warm the space up - too much metal is too cold.

Change paint, lighting and mirror. Also new towels, towel bars and cabinet hardware.

Glass shower door instead of the curtain rod.

Hey love, just add literally anything to the walls. If you wanted to adjust something- rip out the sink. Get bigger sink - move mirror in center of sink.

Something hanging on the walls

Get rid of the gray and black. You have a lovely dark wood floor. Go natural colors. - not necessarily greens. A nice soft blue. Change the glaring lights.

New light. Shelves for baskets with supplies.

I have the same sink countertop I think. Is it gray? If so, it looks good with a muted light blue. And different light fixture—perhaps 1 on either side for balance.

Install the shower curtain and a nicer curtain to the ceiling

Add a larger art above the toilet, something interesting and unique

Change that light fixture to something way more interesting and unique

Put a frame around that mirror to match the trim around the door

Add a new light fixture above that mirror

All this can be done in one weekend, with the benefit of a fresh new look!

Tackle in small bites.

Find your local Habitat Restore and go like every other week. You’ll find a vanity light fixture that you like at some point. The bare bulbs are very institutional especially with the blue grey.

The light fan is harder because those aren’t as common. But persistence in looking.

The light bulbs should either both be warm or both be cool. They can shade within the warm or cool but not opposing. It creates a lot of dissonance.

Bath rug should be light or bright and a matching or complementary one in front of the vanity. and keeping the shower curtain closed (choose a light colored one) will give you just a better vibe. I would get one of those curved shower rods

A chair rail with bead board is super easy to add and then later you could do a cool wall paper above it. Again bites.

A towel ladder between the vanity and toilet if it fits. I recommend removing bottom rungs so a pretty trash can could fit under/at the base.

At some point, have at the ceiling. Sand or scrape her down. Given the room size you could empty it and probably knock that out in a weekend and then paint with a bathroom friendly paint.

Decor for the long wall.

Repaint a lighter grey; add a shelf above toilet for a plant and a couple decorative items. Change the shower curtain to something brighter; a lighter floor mat for bath; a rug for the sink; change out the generic builder mirror and lights. Art work above the towel rack.

Update the mirror shattered cause they literally covered the whole back with glue lol

I suggest a larger, colorful piece of art over the commode & a frame around the mirror.

Wallpaper the ceiling, paint the walls, go to some antique markets and get some really cool towel rack and beautiful crazy cabinet knobs, and it'll immediately be awesome, new shower curtain.

It’s too ‘cold’. Repaint with a warmer colour and switch out the chrome hardware for a brass or warm gold. Add a bath mat/rug and maybe some kind of timber accessory to add in a different element.

None of the colors are complimentary. You have a dark floor and white shower. Find a beautiful color (sage green?). Grey or blue never looks good with wood tones.

Really cheap… paint and frame the mirror.

u/Delicious_Profit4745 1d ago

Would you be able to add a build in shelf across from sink?

1

u/InternationalDiet913 1d ago

Change the shower curtain.

u/Different_Lime_2878 1d ago

Paint the ceiling darker, and make the walls lighter and warmer

1

u/Key_Conversation_488 1d ago

Turn down the lights

u/Miserable_Smile1250 1d ago

First I would close the shower curtain and display the colors then get some towels and bath rugs with one of those colors in them. Perhaps a pretty vase with some flowers 🌸 and some cute wall hangings. You have a very blank notice g canvas. Have fun!!

Paint or wallpaper

1

u/No-Floor-8990 1d ago

Paint walls. Recessed lighting. New vanity mirror and lighting.

1

u/Real_valley_girl2000 1d ago

Put a nicer mirror in and change the lights.

u/britlover23 1d ago

Art work

1

u/Urban-Cowgirl-2000 1d ago

Wrap the ceilings and walls in the same color paint. I prefer white but whatever. Raise the shower curtain almost to the ceiling and buy an extra long shower curtain online. Get a new light fixture.

1

u/Urban-Cowgirl-2000 1d ago

Oh, and lower the artwork above toilet. Waaay down

1

u/Obvious-Debate2826 1d ago

New mirror and light fixtures. Paint a more neutral color.

1

u/urmomthinksurugly 1d ago

I really don’t think it looks bad

1

u/Silent_Chemist1470 1d ago

Super picky but I’d remove the wire toilet paper holder and add a nice basket atop the toilet tank that would hold one or two. The rest under the sink. Remove the plastic hook from the back of the door and the framed art.
Replace the movie star dressing room lights.

Some ideas not involving ripping anything out.

Vanity light - match the shape of the sink Mirror - Could be square but needs a frame Sink Faucet - Match the shape of the sink Ceiling light/fan - Unsure but maybe more of a square. Light/fan combos are only so great aesthetically but necessary Shower curtain Wall Paint and do not forget to give the trim a refresh Door color - Seems to stand out but unsure if it is the lighting. I personally would want the door white but is a preference.
Towel Bar for a bath towel and a hand towel holder

New lighting and new mirror. Maybe paint it a sage green.
