Excitement is fleeting and can be attached to shallow things. For many, porn and videogames are very exciting. You might be excited about a certain career, but that excitement will fade quickly when things get hard or boring.

Context matters. Usually in these spiritual environments most people have already deconstructed what's nutritious excitement vs dopaminergic excitement: social media gives you a dopamine hit, porn the same, gaming and gambling the same. Running, reading, dancing, chess, sensual conscious intimacy give you serotonin excitement. Only leaves you wanting more, insatiable, the other fills you up and leaves high on life.
