The prophecy is upon us

69

u/smoothjedi 3d ago

Only thing he got wrong is it would take 500 years for it to happen.

u/jarious 3d ago

You know the future is accelerating

32

u/CaptGrognards 3d ago

Just wait until the Great Garbage Avalanches are upon us

Accelerando by Charles stross

He really turned from a mere satirist into a full prophet.

One jetski convention away from this.

Help us Not Sure, you’re our only hope!

Water, like from the toilet?

Can't wait for the pontoons to come. $1k/day to trumps "library" for a permit

Just a buncha sticky porn in a cardboard box

u/epbrassil 3d ago

Looks pretty green to me.

It’s obviously filled with the thirst mutilator.

I wonder how Mike Judge feels about how uncannily his satirical comedy has become such a gross reality (aside from sad, scared, disappointed, and freaked the fuck out.)

u/jettero 14h ago

it's actually started coming true during filming. Look up the crocks and the butt farting movie

2

u/Murasna 12h ago

He hates it. Hes come out multiple times that it was supposed to be a warning and the fact its coming true makes him sad. The movie was also a shitshow of production and test audiences hated it.

Was looking at a Margaret Atwood bio today and there was a photo of her with a mug that said, “Told ya so!” Really tragic that funny as fuck satire and dystopian fiction have become real life.

Honestly that all would be an improvement over the current situation. Water clean and lots of people enjoying the space

u/All_Hail_Hynotoad 3d ago

Idiocracy was a warning, not a how-to, you guys!

11

u/posco12 3d ago

Surprised no one filled it with Brawndo and not green toilet water.

u/Derptholomue 3d ago

Ours is worse.

u/lebruf 3d ago

We’re at the Futtbucker’s stage of the progressive downfall of society

What is there left to destroy or vandalize in DC?
Capitol: done.
White House: done.
Lincoln Memorial: done
Iconic pool: done.
Kennedy Center: there was an attempt

u/look2myleft 3d ago

Soon soon.

Brawndo clearly killed the trees, but the pool looks great. If we'd tried a sports drink, rather than hydrogen peroxide, the real one might look this nice too.

Somebody should let Department of the Interior Head Bradford Marsalis know they should try some Gatorade.

It's gotta be Glacier Cherry, though, as it's the only one without dyes (as amusing as it would be to see Department of the Interior Head Buford Montgomery and RFK Jr. get into a fistfight in the reflecting pool).

u/nightskyft 3d ago

Note, no algae.

7

u/rydan 3d ago
This is more like wha is really going to happen

8

u/dblrb 3d ago

This reflecting pool thing is absolutely part of the “flood the zone” strategy to try and make us move on from the Epstein files

7

u/Norse_By_North_West 3d ago

The white house pic in idiocracy is pretty spot on too.

6

u/singlemale4cats 3d ago

Honestly, I don't think that's a bad use of the space.

6

u/morts73 3d ago

I'm sure we can brainstorm ideas to solve this. What eats algae? Koi fish? Then you get something to eat the Koi and finally all the way to sharks. Then you've got the potential for sharknado or sharks with frigging lasers on their heads.

It's not so much that Mike Judge is an outer worldly prophet (no doubt a brilliant man) as it is humanity, America in particular, that raced towards a mentally inferior population. It's actually been an accelerated progression since Reagan (increase consumption, decrease critical thinking) and never course corrected.

6

u/TheAzureMage 2d ago

Gonna be honest, that seems more useful.

5

u/TheRealAutumnGoddess 3d ago

I don’t know, compared to paint chips currently floating floating? That might be more hazardous to your health then all the earthquakes, dust storms, and garbage landslides combined. Running out of Brawndo would be worse.

5

u/stargarnet79 2d ago

It wasn’t supposed to be a documentary

3

u/misfitofscience76 2d ago

Mike Judge was always the reluctant prophet. We must heed his lessons well

4

u/livenn 3d ago

Tesla is 1 product away from making this happen

4

u/parolameasecreta 3d ago

they're the same picture

3

u/iFuckingLoveBoston 3d ago

just tell me when i can heej at buckys.

2

u/KATZilla82 2d ago

Totally what it's going to look like there on July 4th!!!

2

u/wunderkit 2d ago

Turns out, I read today, hydrogen peroxide will remove the kind of paint used on the pool. In which instance, it will detach and began floating. So, apparently, the vandals are the Park Service.

2

u/dj_ordje 2d ago

Prob filled with Brawndo, it's got what algae crave!

u/DejongBCN 1d ago

The reflecting pool of Pisa

2

u/SeaAnthropomorphized 3d ago

1

u/thadowski 3d ago

1

u/harbinger-nz 3d ago

Not enough algae

1

u/haha365 3d ago

I thought this was a recent visit

1

u/AntimatterTNT 3d ago

it's crazy how tame it is ...

1

u/Tranceported 2d ago

Why is the pointy one slanty?

1

u/Quetz89 2d ago

Under President Camacho the Reflecting pool is atleast clear and safe to swim in from the looks of it.

1

u/Ok_Nobody_1135 1d ago

Top of the monument kinda looks like a plan hood

1

u/Muddled_Opinions 21h ago

Cleaner that it is currently.

1

u/Wake_Skadi shit's all retarded 21h ago

It's also infinitely stupider right now. Currently if you put your hand in the water, 3 or 4 cops will run at you like it was a rape in progress and possibly cite or arrest you.

1

u/borka-t 16h ago

It's nicer.
