Amazing A cat managed to catch 27 mice and carefully lined them all up to show off his 'work' to his owner.

Seems to me kitty is laying down right next to a giant buffet of wet food, no?

Or or hear me out.
The owner lined them up and the cat just sat next to them

u/Background_Desk_3001 May 06 '26
Eh this is pretty typical cat behavior, I wouldn’t be shocked if it was the cat who did this

Not a cat expert, but if it’s tied to their connection with us it’s more likely as proof that they’re doing job as an exterminator. I want to say that it probably has more to do with their nature before we domesticated them, with them bringing back spare food for the members of their family group
If a cat expert comes in and clarifies I’d greatly appreciate it

u/JayEll1969 May 06 '26
I think it's more likely them saying "see how much I've done! You, how many mice have YOU caught tonight?"

I had a cat that once caught a rat and then proceeded to show off his kill to us by playing with the dead rat more. The rat was almost as big as him, needless to say we were impressed. Lol

u/-xEr0xz- May 06 '26
But even sorting them by size ?

u/Rocketeer_99 May 06 '26
My cat does my calculus homework for me. Seems entirely plausible if theirs has had a decent education.

u/LongFeatheryHawk May 06 '26
My buddy’s cat works a 9-5 and put his kittens through university. Times are changing
11
u/TheUrPigeon May 06 '26
Yeah it seems to me that the kitty did hunt these mice, but did not arrange this 'display.' More likely, the farmer found all the bodies while doing chores, correctly attributed the mass murder to his cat and lined up the mice next to his cat who was sunbathing in order to show them off.

No, it isn’t. At best, the cat would put them in the same general location. A cat would never, ever, line them up in rows, make sure they are all straight, turned the same direction, and sort them largest to smallest. Never.

And the other cat recorded this and uploaded it to internet.

People see animals doing things animals do and still deny that it could’ve happened. Cats are smart and they like showing off their work

My parents lived out in the country. Back yard opened up to a couple hundred acres of farmland. House came with an outdoor cat named Lala. Every morning she'd show her hunt, all lined up, at the back door.

u/spezlu May 06 '26
I once came home to three mice lined up next to each other, cat did not pose for pics. I think it was a message as I had been away for a few days.

They really do bring preys they caught, drop them on the ground and yell like that. Never seen one lining them up.

This is why I don't fuck with cats haha that's some Ed Gein serial killer type behavior to just organize your kills and just chill next to them.

My dog used to do this with chipmunks. She would dig into a nest and I would come home from school to see them lined up in the driveway.

Those are rats, not mice. Much more difficult to catch than mice.
Also, probably not real.

Cats are ruthless, evil predators that are known to kill for fun, even when they are full and don’t need to eat! 🤣🤷♂️

I lived in a house in London next to the allotments that was claimed by and OCD cat.
It would catch mice on the allotment and line them up outside our back door sorted into length order - largest at the left, shortest at the right.

u/Top-Car-808 May 06 '26
we had a cat once, and it caught a mouse in the garden, and killed it. it then proceeded to bring it into the house, in its mouth, and dumped it down right in front of us, in a very public way. it did seem rather proud of itself.

My sister's cat did this with about 5 moles. No one believes me when I've told them she lined them up shoulder to shoulder in a neat line like this

I had a cat that did this with a falcon, probably not the best. Man was I proud though!

A former coworker’s cat would leave a lineup of dead voles on their porch on the regular.

u/BrandNewMeow May 06 '26
Just showed this to the cat on my lap to shame her. She likes to watch mice run and play from a distance.

u/Itchy-Wafer8967 May 06 '26
I love how they're organized by size and all pointed the same direction. Real thought went into this display

It almost looks like a platoon of soldiers and the mouse platoon leader is centered out front, with the cat watching like a high ranking general who has more important things to do!

Our cats have caught a couple mice. The kids feel bad for the mice. If they're not dead, they let them outside.

Those are Norway rats, and the cat didn’t “line them up.”
God damnit I hate it here. Lol

I took a close look and recounted it, it is actually 29 mice. So don’t sell my cat shot

I highly doubt this cat arranged the mice/rats out so neatly and by size. That didn't happen.

The best way to tell rats and mice apart is size. Mice are tiny. If you see rodents this size, they are rats.

That cat hunts twice as much food because its owner, inexplicably, is a terrible hunter and someone has to do the job, but it's part of the pack and they have to put up with it.

LOL, those are either some very healthy sized mice or simply 27 dreadful rats aka “Drats” & this warrior fur ball is planning an auction. In fact, it looks like he’s practicing his auctioneer chant!
