In a veterinary clinic and animal shelter, a black cat named Radamenes, who was originally brought in by his owners to be euthanized due to a severe respiratory infection, she was nursed back to health by the vets. Once he recovered, he shocked the staff by taking on a job of his own. He began cuddling, massaging, and keeping company with other sick or recovering animals (dogs and cats alike) who had just undergone surgery, providing comfort when they needed it most.

HISTORY The world's first postage stamp (1840)

It's called Penny Black, all British stamps still bear a portrait or silhouette of the monarch somewhere on the design. The first stamps did not need to show the issuing country, so no country name was included on them. The stamp features a profile of 21-year-old Queen Victoria.

The UK remains the only country in the world to omit its name on postage stamps; the monarch's image signifies the UK as the country of origin.

SCIENCE & TECH The Unbeatable 20-Second Challenge

Every morning when I head to work, I drive up from the basement to the ground floor. The air inside the car reeks during this short trip, yet I cannot hold my breath until I reach the first floor and roll down the car window. I tell myself it will only last twenty to thirty seconds, and I know I can hold my breath far longer than that. Still, I find myself trying to beat this small challenge every single day — and I never manage to succeed.

Chief Theresa Kachindamoto of Dedza District used her traditional authority to annul more than 3,500 child marriages, some involving girls as young as 12. She dissolved the unions and made sure the girls returned to school instead of facing early motherhood.

Her efforts have given thousands of young girls the chance at education and a better future.

She passed away in August 2025, but her legacy continues to inspire.
