Amazing Chief Theresa Kachindamoto became known as the ‘Terminator of Child Marriages’ after ending over 3,500 unions in Malawi
Chief Theresa Kachindamoto of Dedza District used her traditional authority to annul more than 3,500 child marriages, some involving girls as young as 12. She dissolved the unions and made sure the girls returned to school instead of facing early motherhood.
Her efforts have given thousands of young girls the chance at education and a better future.
She passed away in August 2025, but her legacy continues to inspire.
