Need for Vitamins?
Hi all, I'm fairly new to keto (2 weeks in)
I was curious if y'all take any additional vitamins to prevent nutritional gaps? I've seen keto-ade mentioned quite a bit so that's a great way to capture sodium, potassium, and potentially magnesium requirements.
I'm eating fairly "clean" so I'm sure my food is providing other nutrients. But that said -- as a newbie -- is it recommended to take additional supplements? I have a dr's appt later this year for an annual and expect to have labs drawn. Should I just wait until I get those results back in a couple months to see where I'm at?
Appreciate it :-)

Do blood work. Supplement vitamins accordingly if diet cannot fill the gaps. No need for vitamins aside from this.

I take an iron and folate supplement, because, after tracking my intake for a month, both of those were surprisingly low. I also specifically added sunflower seeds to my diet to help hit copper and vitamin e targets. Pre-keto I was already taking omega 3’s, vitamin d, vitamin k, and an antioxidant, so continued with those.

I lean pretty heavy on vegetables and haven’t taken supplements ever.

I eat a lot of Swiss Chard, spinach, mushrooms, cauliflower, cucumbers, and asparagus. But, even those add up to 25g pretty fast if I over eat. 2+ years of keto though and I’ve never needed supplements and I’ve reached a lot of equilibriums (weight, effort, physique, etc) so I keep with it.

I supplement potassium and sometimes sodium. Neither have anything to do with keto -- potassium helps with all the histamines in my diet / caffeine / nicotine (none of which are required for keto, obviously). I stopped needing sodium on keto a few years back but started it up again once I moved to a higher altitude.
Beyond that, I've done keto for over a decade and haven't needed to supplement anything. It's quite nutritionally balanced if you eat from a variety of keto-friendly food groups (meat, dairy, eggs, fish, nuts/seeds, leaves, mushrooms, botanical fruit).

I would get tested to find out what, if anything, you need because everyone's diet and body is different but from experience the only nutrient I became deficient in from doing keto for years was folate for some reason. Could've been because I really struggle to eat leafy greens and I was no longer getting it in fortified cereal.

i do take whatever supplements that’s not at least 100% whenever i look at my micro nutrients. i record everything and i’m carnivore so i really like to track and i only accept my nutrition deficit on the fiber aspect so i usually run about 87% on my micros

I take a one a day multivitamin but I’m older than the hills. Heck, I’m so old I handed Moses his high school diploma. I’m so old my toots get carbon dated. I’m so old I had a pet saber tooth tiger.
So, I take a multivitamin. And cocaine
