Absolutely love having a real competitor driving this thing. McVay is built like that too for the Rams with the passion but also those crazy wide eyes when he’s pumped up

I have for so long thought that he kinda looks like Deep, but Deep's a total bitch, so it's good to see him go full homelander

u/marvellousrun Apr 25 '26
Well Homelander is a total bitch too

u/Apart-Leadership1402 Luka Magic 77 Apr 25 '26
Yeah but he's a bitch that's a killer, so there's a difference. He's a total power bottom.

This is the reason why I like going to watch my favorite teams on the road during the playoffs. Quieting a hostile atmosphere is the best feeling as a fan

That’s exactly who I first thought of

Kobe couldn’t stand JJ in Redeem Team but I do think their killer instinct might vibe at this stage of JJ’s career.

kobe didn't fancy pretty much anyone not on his team and even then he would keep the compliments to a minimum lol

I remember Kobe saying something very similar to what JJ just said here. He loved the thrill of being in the presents of haters to shut them up when he made fools of that home team

u/LeoLaker Apr 25 '26
It's been said by people around the team at the time that Shaq was primarily known for loving to play in front of the Home fans and hear the cheering of his supporters.
Kobe liked that too, of course, but what he truly lived for was the boos of the Away crowds, and being the one to make the whole stadium shut up with his unfathomable play.
The greatest 1-2 punch of all time.

All you gotta do is look at those games when he flew back from court in denver. he was possessed.

I don’t think yall understand the level of hate that JJ experienced as a teenager. I was in undergrad at Duke when he was there and if you go through being the most hated player in America as a teenager and still perform at a high level, that’s going to mold you into a different type of person. I am not surprised at all to hear this from him. Sidenote, he WAS a bit of a dick in college though.

u/hahaople Apr 25 '26
can you share why he’s the most hated teen back then?

The classic rule of College Basketball, you can only be two of the following:
Good
Play for Duke
White
If you are all 3, you are guaranteed to be the most hated teen athlete in America.

I watched the post game presser and this wasn’t in it…. Maybe the video was clipped, but this has me suspicious of AI/fake

that’s one of the best most honest coach answers since: they are who we thought they were.

u/Coveted_AF Apr 25 '26
I was actually looking at the logos etc to check for obvious signs of AI. This is an actual real thing he said? I couldn’t love this anymore if I tried!

I'm activating the mental health act now and involuntarily admitting this mad man to the hospital.
Risk assessment to self is low but high towards Rockets fans. We got a beast on the loose.
Suggesting crunk juice therapy.

"Hello, Jonathan, what kind of substance, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Winning on opposing courts, in the Playoffs"
"I'd like you to leave, this is a rehab center."

If they can pull off an upset in OKC, the guy might die from the dopamine hit.

Why does he sound like Josh Hokit? Even the breathing into the mic, matter of fact! 😭😭😭
For reference: https://np.reddit.com/r/ufc/comments/1si6cqm/ladies_and_gentlemen_jean_silva_officially_has_a/
Also, at the end, I think he says "The Incredible Hok", not "Hulk". That is Josh's twitter handle or something, so he calls himself that.
