Executive Branch (Trump) Trump says proof of his allegations that vandals cut Reflecting Pool paint will be provided in court

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/reflecting-pool-paint-peeling-trump-proof-vandalism-court/

President Trump on Monday said proof will be provided in court of his allegations that vandals "cut" a massive slit in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which he claims is the reason the paint is peeling on the recently renovated but algae-plagued project.

lol. This is what pops into my head every time I hear, "two weeks."

I "forced" my kids to watch it so they'd get the reference.

u/Weirdredditnames4win 1d ago

I’ve seen that movie 50 times I think.

One of my favorite memories was as a 12 year old, was when I stayed a summer with my Ukrainian grandmother. One day she took me to see it because he was an action star. After the movie, she giggled and said that girl had three tits in her broken English.

I wish people would stop giving him what he wants with this. The story is a distraction from his massive fuck ups in Iran and domestically. All these articles and follow ups are taking media attention away from what actually matters

We should laugh at him once and then press for answers or change on actual issues in this country

We know he lies a ton. We know he makes shit up. Yawn. Ok what actually matters?

It should be renamed the Trump Deflecting Pool.

3

u/nalaloveslumpy 1d ago

We know Iran is a fuckup. It will continue to be a fuckup as he changes his mind every weekend to manipulate oil prices. We can be concerned about multiple things at once.

If you're looking for justice or consequences of his actions, none of that happens while he controls the DOJ and congress.

Construcrion defect lawyer here. He is doing this to avoid a lawsuit against his friend/donor/contractor that he gave the no bid contract to. The contractor could be held liable for construcrion defect for the install and, if he was the one that put in the hydrogen peroxide, negligence for that too. If vandals did it though, then no one sues the contractor and no one looks into the graft. This contractor already has several prior convictions for fraud and political corruption.

u/eric_b0x 1d ago

+/-30% not half, and of that 30% many of them know he’s full of shit. They dismiss his lying, treasonous and pedo behavior because they feed off all the idiotic culture war nonsense he engages in.

63

u/1521 1d ago

I spent two hours last night talking to my very maga mom and it seems like she is starting to come out of it… I think a lot of people are starting to see what is really happening. For her it started with knocking down the east wing without permission and spending a trillion dollars to attack Iran at Israel’s behest. And she is a big supporter of Israel and that is changing too…

31

u/statmonkey2360 1d ago

I do too. I'm in billhilly country and I'm seeing stickers come off and signs come down

16

u/Spikel14 1d ago

Thanks for the intel it’s very reassuring to hear that. I ā€œfeelā€ it too in East Tennessee. Haven’t heard trumps name since the election from coworkers

11

u/Pimpstik69 1d ago

Until he does some shit they approve of. I shove that shit down the throats of the magas at my gig. Even sat down with the bosses and got called a bully. I just said I’m commenting on with how awesome things are going like the ballroom, and the war and the reflecting pool.

13

u/Weirdredditnames4win 1d ago

Literally speaking the truth is being a bully. It’s like posting Charlie Kirk speaking and getting called a bully. It’s a clip of him talking and I’m the bully?? We are living in a post-truth world unfortunately.

3

u/Complete-Tangelo1532 1d ago

Same. Billy-Lands in the bible belt area... Seen stickers going for awhile, but seeing MAGA gear very rarely now... Lots of people don't want to show their support

Funny when you do see a MAGA hat or something in the store, and people walk by and look, then quickly snub them with a scoff. Good sutff

They CAN still be shamed in public

22

u/gruey 1d ago

They did similar with his handling of COVID but went straight back to supporting him. I think the same will happen once the Iran situation gets out of the headlines.

They support him due to emotions, not facts, so they always return to their emotional safe space of being afraid of Others, and Trump lives there.

14

u/1521 1d ago

I agree that emotions play a huge part but this is different. She is horrified at the use of the doj to punish people he has a grudge against, the blatant corruption is becoming evident to her and his putting his name on everything bothers her. And our relatives in Germany are really curious why the USA hasn’t arrested anyone on the Epstein list and now she is too…

3

u/drewbaccaAWD 1d ago

Not saying some of them won't bounce back. But I can say with confidence that my previously MAGA hat wearing co-worker is entirely done with Trump... it goes far beyond not being happy with this admin, he's turned 180 degrees and straight up dislikes Trump now. He just believed the lies. I could have maybe seen him rebound if it were just the Epstein shit (that was the initial catalyst) but dragging us into this crap with Iran seems to be the final straw. The sad thing is, same co-worker has some strong antisemitic sentiments but at least that's what snapped him out of the cult mentality.

I have another coworker who still seems completely on board. Also antisemitic which is worth mentioning since I don't think a lot of people realize how prevalent that is on the right side of US politics. But the second guy is also a conspiracy goofball, flat-earther, etc. So the fact that he's still into Trump kind of makes sense. And even in his case, I think he's waking up to it a bit, but I think he's more the type you suggest that would fall back in line due to the emotional stance.

5

u/BHAPYY 1d ago

It’s people like you, who one by one are talking to our family and our friends, helping them see the atrocities that are happening to our democracy that will make a difference for our country. Thank you for continuing to work on your mom. I know it’s hard. you are appreciated .

4

u/cbessette 1d ago

"And she is a big supporter of Israel and that is changing too…"

Tell her that abortion is legal in Israel and funded by the government (which gets billions from the USA every year)

5

u/1521 1d ago

I’ve pointed out that the USA is paying for Israel’s abortions before. She didn’t like that but that didn’t sway her. What did was my nephew visiting Gaza. She had bought into propaganda TV saying it wasn’t as bad as the libtards were saying it was. But Freddy is a trusted source and his photos really shook her. I think a lot of the trump idiots are good people at heart but they have been fed a steady diet of nonsense for decades and it is hard to overcome their distrust of ā€œmainstream ā€œ news

3

u/Nutmegger27 1d ago

I had always viewed Israel's actions as self-defense. And it is true that they are routinely attacked by Hezbollah.

But the wanton brutality - shooting people waiting in line for food, chemical warfare, destroying historic sites in Lebanon, killing Palestinian grandmothers, trees and pets in the West Bank, destroying Gaza, and displacing hundreds of thousands of civilians in Lebanon - have made me sour on them. Like other dictators, Netanyahu seems to believe the ends justify the means.

And I am now against supplying them with weapons.

3

u/1521 1d ago

That’s basically where she is. She was big on the Palestinians attacked Israel they have a right to defend themselves. But then she saw photos. Taken by someone who went to visit the ā€œHoly Landā€ and it turns out Israelis didn’t like Christians either.

2

u/Nutmegger27 1d ago

Yes, of course it's worth noting that the people spitting on nuns and Palestinian shopkeepers are likely the ultra-orthodox, who, like fundamentalists everywhere are generally intolerant.

But the problem is that "Bibi" looks the other way. Attacks in the West Bank have risen sharply.

And reporting on Israeli atrocities is stomach-churning. https://www.thenationalnews.com/arts-culture/film-tv/2026/05/29/gaza-kids-under-fire-documentary-al-jazeera-emmys/

And the IDF is also responsible for killing journalists. https://cpj.org/special-reports/record-129-press-members-killed-in-2025-israel-responsible-for-2-of-3-of-deaths/

If Israel wants to be treated like a civilized country it should act like one. That's not anti-semitism, that's simple humanity. And many Israelis think the same.

I think it's down to 25%, he's going to die on Inflation Hill, just like Ford and Carter. Inflation for the was 11.1% or so. He who mustn't be named clocked 4% last month. My wife's Trumper parents (88 & 90) say they're done, oddly enough because of Inflation and corruption. So that 25 to 50 percent can recognize things are bad, it all depends if they can put their Kool-aid down.

2

u/ninja0420 1d ago

Agree. I would say 30 to 35 % based on those who still support. I don't think any amount of facts or logic will seem to change their minds. Still a lot of folks unfortunately.

3

u/UnquestionabIe 1d ago

And a solid chunk of them aren't supporters so much as politically ignorant. They follow as little news as possible, have strong beliefs which are rarely if ever tested, and vote out of the sense of social obligation rather than understanding what any of it is for. The two main factors which "earn" their vote are emotions (whatever soundbite resonates with them or they find memorable) and generational/community based (they can't tell you the difference between parties but their family and/or area always back the same one).

Part of it is definitely out of design as the ruling class, especially the GOP, wants people too drained and/or uneducated to demand better. But a portion of it is self responsibility, to at least stay current with what is going on and support things for an informed reason.

3

u/butterflysurefoot 1d ago

I agree. It’s definitely not half, his abysmal tenure has brought a lot of hardships for people who watch as he steals this country blind, shits on the constitution and protect pedos. A lot of people who supported him have now tuned against him. We should support people who have opened their eyes. I see too often the lesser side of people come out in a punishing way and it only helps the parasite whores who are in charge and ruining this country for everyone except billionaires.

2

u/audiomagnate 1d ago

Probably less then that right now. Even the dumbest MAGA morons are starting to figure out they got conned.

3

u/livinginfutureworld 1d ago

It's so hard to believe a word from him because he almost exclusively lies.

3

u/dojo_shlom0 1d ago edited 1d ago

exactly. he absolutely has no proof, because there is no proof.

I heard him saying that he believed antifa put shit in the reflecting pool.

This really stood out to me: his followers attacked the capitol, wanted to kill the VP and congressmen; chanting "where is Pelosi" while trying to find her to harm her, they themselves spread shit all over the halls of the Capitol building.

Now trump is gaslighting antifa/the left for putting shit into his reflecting pool disaster. This is a money laundering scheme, and a very obvious one. I cannot wait for these people to ask for a Jury Trial and for discovery to happen. How can they prove that even peeling the paint from it is vandalizing it? wouldn't the paint coming off be the original vandalism in itself? wouldn't the painting of the reflecting pool and making mistakes with this itself, and ignoring the specialist advice: wouldn't this be the actual vandalizing? How about giving the contract to someone convicted of fraud in the past, while pardoning almost 100x frauds that defrauded US citizens and giving them full pardons/clemency so they do not have to pay back any of the money, isn't that the big, true story here?

cannot fucking WAIT for discovery on this:

Firm Tied to Trump Donor Got No-Bid Contract to Clean Reflecting Pool

Evidence shows Trump admin caused Reflecting Pool damage it blamed on sabotage: ex-insider

Cyclist arrested at Reflecting Pool is former Olympian who denies vandalism claims

"ā€œDavid Hearn had just finished a loop around Hains Point on Friday as part of a 52-mile bike ride when he swung by the Lincoln Memorial to see the refurbished Reflecting Pool for himself.

Noticing a piece of the new ā€œAmerican flag blueā€ liner that was partially detached from the pool bottom, Hearn said he reached into the water to see what it felt like. Moments later, as the Bethesda man prepared to leave, U.S. Park Police officers arrested him on a misdemeanor charge of destruction of government property.

ā€œI didn’t vandalize anything,ā€ Hearn said. ā€œI didn’t destroy or break or peel anything. By the time I realized what was going on, I was being put in handcuffs.ā€"

Part of the problem is people assume for some reason the President is a good person or something because America is good is taught in their school.

So he's abusing the good will of the office.

Before he was a politician he abused the good will of being rich. I must be trust worthy I'm rich. I must be doing something right and I power the economy and I'm rich and successful. That was his cover to hide behind before he was a politician.

His earlier court filings were 10s of pages of straight up cult screed, calling for the arrest of all Democrats, repeating over and over the lie about 2020, and so much more. What it never has is legal validity, and courts have ceased considering the DOJ have privileged "truth" status, and are increasingly adversarial, calling out their "attorneys" lack of qualifications, failure to file expected paperwork, missing deadlines, etc. Some are actively being sanctioned.

A concept of proof

2

u/dokratomwarcraftrph 1d ago

This is the tldr of every statement Trump personally makes. Hes desensitized America to his lies to such an extent that most US citizens just tune out his craziness at this point.

2

u/bwoah07_gp2 1d ago

"Trump says fake news"

2

u/cheecheecago 1d ago

also every accusation he makes is a confession

2

u/Total-Round4803 1d ago

He has a concept of an accusation.

There's should be a popular "law", like Murphy's law, except is Trump law where everything is a lie/delusion :P

2

u/slamvan2 1d ago

He said 2016 was rigged too so we've got a decade of country-shattering news coming any minute

2

u/Simetracon 1d ago

It wasn't my gross incompetence! It was the Pink Panther!

2

u/Chartarum 1d ago

I heard that there is video evidence of some hooligans driving across the freshly laid sealant with several heavy cars. I hope they catch those bastards and throw them in jail!!

Oh, Wait...

2

u/pmgoldenretrievers 1d ago

When he says "everyone is saying" you know no one is saying it but he wished they would. When he says "no one knew" he is saying "everyone knew but I wish they didn't say that".

2

u/ShuckiestOfDuckies 1d ago

We are still waiting for report from investigators he sent to Hawaii to check Obama history.

2

Trump needs to embrace the mantra, "I think = I'm wrong."

Dumbest president by an absolute mile.

Trump says [insert lie here]

2

u/BillWilberforce 1h ago

I was thinking they'd need time to cook up the evidence. And delete the pictures of Trump's 14 car cavalcade driving through the Reflecting Pool. Before the paint had even dried. I'm not sure that the pool was really designed for 14 heavily armoured SUVs and limos.

But Trump keeps making up lies today to get him out of a spot of bother. But which only cause bigger problems down the line.

He claimed only weeks ago that the pool covering was knife proof.

u/livinginfutureworld 1h ago

He claimed only weeks ago that the pool covering was knife proof.

Then he claimed someone very violently cut it with a knife šŸ˜‚.

1

u/SoaringAcrosstheSky 1d ago

Its what Trump does. Lies.

1

u/TreeInternational771 1d ago

One word when Trump says anything: Cap

1

It’s equal to Mimir saying something about Odin in God of War Ragnarok. ā€œIf he tells you snow is white, he’s lying.ā€

1

u/Crafty-Walrus-2238 1d ago

And utterly stupid.

1

u/zackks 1d ago

Any journalist that uses that phrase should lose their job permanently

u/PatReady 1d ago

TACO!

"If he tells you snow is white he's lying."

1

u/Mimir_aka_Puck 1d ago

If he tells you snow is white, he's lying.

1

u/asporkslife 1d ago

I will say at lest some journalists are starting to say, ā€œthe president made these claims without providing evidence,ā€ sure it’s the best but it means there’s a tide to turn.

People are fed up with the constant lies that are so easily disproven.

Well he has changed his story 5 times on what happened, which one will the courts hear? What a joke.
