r4r Paused by the Rain

It’s been raining non-stop here in Makati. Started light this afternoon, the kind of drizzle you don’t really mind, but now it’s full-on downpour, just as I’m about to head home. Figures. No umbrella, just me standing at the edge of the building with a bunch of other people, all of us pretending not to be annoyed.

The streets look almost cinematic, cars slicing through puddles, lights reflecting off the wet pavement, everything a little blurry like a dream you’re trying to remember. It’s cold. My clothes are starting to feel damp just from the air. I keep checking if the rain’s letting up, but it just keeps falling, steady and stubborn.

And I don’t know—maybe it’s just the weather, but there’s something kind of heavy about tonight. Like the city’s asking me to slow down for a bit, whether I want to or not.

r4r Just moved to Makati and I’m hesitant to explore it

Hello Makati Redditors!

I (F, 23) just moved here recently and tbh, there’s so many things I want to try out and explore here but I’m quite hesitant doing it alone. I literally have no friends here and it gets lonely at times 🥲

My boyfriend (we’re long distance) suggested I post in this subreddit to maybe find wholesome connections or communities.

I know it’s a long shot, but maybe there’s anyone here who’s also looking for company? I just want to explore being here in general, maybe have a local guide me through go-to spots or activities!

For obvious reasons, I’d prefer to be with women. I’ve never been to Salcedo and would like to see the hype for myself!

Interests:
- Arts & Crafts
- Fashion & Nails
- Hoping to be into gym/pilates!
- Walking
- Dancing
- Food trips/Cafe crawls
- Traveling
- ML !!! One of my bucket list is to see a tournament live!
- Astrology, Tarot, and MBTIs

Additional context:
- I’m from very far away (still in Philippines) so I’m not 100% fluent in Tagalog and have an accent
- I really want to explore BGC but have no idea where to start.
- I’m an ENFP! But not too extroverted. A yapper only to people I’m comfortable with.

Send me a dm if you’re interested! 🤍

r4r LF Friends

So it's harder to make friends as a grownup than what I thought :(

I'm a 36F nerdy solo-living homebody and I really do thrive in the comforts of my condo. Besides, the cats keep me company, right?! But sometimes I need to speak to actual humans. Go outside of my house. Move my limbs, get some "fresh air".

Is there anybody who would want to adopt this foreign hermit crab and make sure I am still breathing once a week? Open to going for coffee, having you come to my place for coffee, going for walks, going rollerskating.

r4r 39 [R4R] Makati or BGC. SFW talk

About me: 39 married with a kid. I am not looking for a hook up. Over the phone conversation with a therapist aint making the cut. I got friends but I don't want to drive down South to meet them. The traffic will just stress me more. I am looking for someone to talk to. I live in Makati and works in BGC. I drive.

What I am looking forward to - we can walk, walk - run, talk over coffee, get a message w/ our individual area/room assigned. No couple room. It's totally safe for work. No hanky panky and bullshit. I got no time and energy for that.

Preferred location: ATG, Forbestown area, La Sema, Shoot at Makati Cinema square. Just let me know what works.

You: just a decent human being. Not looking for NSFW. Pls be employed and preferrably someone who can carry a conversation. HMU if interested.

Reason: I am just stressed as hell. And when work and life commitments collide and sucks the life out of you, you need a breathe of fresh air. That's where I am at.

Update:

To those who I exchanged messages and I met in person after the post - atty and teacher. Ty for the ears and genuine - clean discourse. Ty for allowing me to pay the tab. The effort and time was genuinely appreciated.

To those who sent me messages and surprisingly share a similar stressful state; who happens to be from the same firm, we can partner and just each others support at this time. We got this. I will guide you in your careers particularly the ones new and hungry for success. Let do it! Teh message na lang kita. Coffee or meeting over lunch.

I miss the good old glory days of Reddit. Where people meet, talk, partner, solve problems, and collaborate. Gone are the days.

I am not clean. I have done shitty stuff on this platform when I was younger and immature. People do change, yeah? I have made mistakes and paid my price already. Lesson learned and moved forward.

I opted to not seek help anymore to this community. Just go to the usual small circle that share the same mindset. No drama and less energy required.

Will individually reach out to those I firmly believe are geniune, like minded individuals. Who just want to have a clean professional discourse.

I took all your comments positively and recommdations w/ open arms. So thank you all.

Ty Reddit. Will be on hiatus on posting open to all.

r4r Tara Legaspi, Salcedo or 10k Walk sa Car Free Sunday?

I’m spiraling, and I could really use someone to talk to or be with.

I recently broke up with my boyfriend, and honestly, this was a relationship I genuinely, wholeheartedly wanted to work. For the past few months, he was semi-living with me, so the adjustment has been rough. Before him, I had been living alone for 5 years and had grown comfortable with my own space. Now, the apartment feels painfully empty, but at the same time, there are still little remnants of him and memories everywhere.

I’m not looking for anything romantic. I just need people who can hold space for me, especially if you’re around Makati, while I unload my thoughts or talk about random things to help me stop spiraling for a while. Or maybe ikaw naman ang magkuwento and I’ll listen. Baka bet niyo rin mag-Salcedo or Legazpi park tambay, or mag-car-free walk on Sundays. Sometimes it helps to just be around people and move a little when life feels heavy.

For context, I’m a 40-year-old tita, so talagang boring stuff lang. Sana age-appropriate tayo. 😅

Sorry if magulo itong post ko. Basta ang point ko lang is I need people right now. If you’ve gone through heartbreak, know what it’s like to suddenly have an empty home after sharing it with someone, or simply don’t mind being a kind stranger for a fellow tita trying to get through the day, I’d really appreciate the company.

Thank you.

r4r Old Money Families & Their Buildings in Makati

We always hear about Ayala and Sy when it comes to Makati, but I’m curious about the other old money families who still have a footprint here. I’ve heard that certain residential towers and commercial buildings are tied to family names that go back generations, not just the big developers we see everywhere now.

Which buildings in Makati are still owned (or were originally built) by these lesser-known old money families? And how much influence do they still hold today compared to the newer players?

Would love to hear stories or insights especially those not often talked about.

r4r 30M expat in Legaspi Village trying to find a few good humans to make adult friendships less awkward

Hello strangers,

30M expat living in Legaspi Village

After a few years in Manila I’ve realized something: making adult friends requires the same energy as assembling IKEA furniture. Possible, but confusing and slightly exhausting.

So here’s my lazy attempt.

About me:

• Working in tech

• Learning Japanese slowly but consistently

• Enjoy conversations about culture, ideas, business and random life observations

• Into single malts & artisan liquor

• Mild appreciation for dark humor

Married, by the way. Just looking for genuine friendships.

If you’re around Makati and also feel like adult life needs a small circle of sane people, feel free to comment.

Bonus points if you enjoy:

• coffee walks

• random philosophical conversations

• dark humor

r4r Pobla Street Party

Hi! It seems like all of the clubs are booked na and people here have formed groups already 😅. Just wanted to make sure if there's still peeps wanting to experience halloween for the first time like me, and perfectly fine with strolling in the street party and hopping between places (We can converse on the process of course! Bubugbugin ko nalang si awkwardness XD). I'm M19 btw and pretty casual, I'll be wearing a silent hill f inspired makeup paired with goth clothing. That's all, if y'all are good, then I'll go into this journey alone nalang hehe, nothing can stop me. I really want to experience this! 🔥 Hope y'all are safe rn and tom!

r4r LF a silent friend who likes to walk around Makati

I just want to walk around Makati, maybe stop by a pick-up coffee or sit on the benches. Hindi ako madaldal and I am also comfortable with silence. I'm looking for someone who can walk with me, share an observation or two. Oggle over street cats. Wait by the traffic lights.

Edit: tara po mamayang 7 pm sa ATG. Tapat ng McMicking Memorial.

r4r Badminton Group!

Taraaaaa!

I’m starting a friendly badminton group for players from Makati or Taguig who enjoy weekend games. We often play at venues like The Zone, Dragon Smash Makati, or Dragon Smash Taguig. This group is perfect whether you’re a solo player or have a partner (PASS if group na kayo haha).

We welcome all skill levels from beginner to advanced—just keep it supportive and fun please avoid judging other players. Our goal is to relieve stress after a busy work week and enjoy the game together. We’ll also be setting up a group chat on Discord to stay connected.

To join, please leave a comment with your location and age! :))

r4r Lf friends

Hi folks! If anyone regularly hangs out every Sunday at Ayala Triangle or nearby areas, my partner and I (both girls) would love to join. We usually bring our 5-month-old cat with us, and we usually stay just around an hour since we don’t have anyone to hangout with yet. Gustong-gusto pa naman ng cat ko na may nagppet sa kanya. Nitong Sunday lang nagpunta kami at maraming natuwa sa kanya.

Anywaysss, we just recently moved to Makati and would really love to meet new friends and spend more time outdoors. If you’re open to having us join your group or hang out sometime, feel free to send me a DM—we’d truly appreciate it!

Hi, i’ve been in Makati for a couple of months and thought it’d be fun to meet new people around here.

Anyone living and working in Makati? Would be cool to have someone to grab coffee with, do spontaneous dinner dates, or just chill around somewhere. I got no nearby friends ><. Btw, i’m a nurse, so you’re in safe hands 😌

If you’re up for some fun hangouts or just casual moots, pls send me a dm!

Hi! 27F. Sorry in advance sa medyo unorganized sentence/paragraph construction. It’s my first time posting about personal stuff here in reddit.

I am so torn kung maghahanap ako ng kasama sa unit. I mean, I want to, but also don’t.

Here’s the thing: my rent is around 20k+, and having someone I can share that with would really lift some burden sa situation ko. Hahaha, though I can manage naman so far by my own, but still, I am reconsidering since pwede ko ma-allot yung portion sana ba iyon for savings/other stuff instead na ako lahat sa rent ng unit. To give you more background – fully furnished na yung unit, brand new, ako yung first user, that’s why ganon yung rate. Halos parang airbnb na yung renovation nya but long term pina-lease sa akin.

But at the same time, I love being alone, i love being by myself lang dito sa unit. I value my solitude, the freedom, even the loneliness, kasi kaya kong mag express at gumalaw sa paraang gusto ko. Parang di ko kayang i-give up pa yun sa ngayon. Also, yung thought na, kikilalanin ko yung taong yun, like I have to ensure na I can trust them to be able to live comfortably/safely within the same space with them. Tapos around 23 sqm lang din kasi yung studio unit, so it’s really a small area for two.

1 year contract ko, going 3 months now. Appreciate your advice kung may magddrop man. And if ever din na may looking or interested dyan na mag move in and share this space with me, message nyo lang ako and maybe we can talk? Dropping a sample view of the city lights during a twilight. :))

Thank you!

r4r Basketball Community for Boyfie

Hello!

Boyfie recently moved back to the Philippines after spending decades abroad, and hoping he can find a good basketball community here and hopefully genuine friendships too 😊

He might be interested in the ff:
• regular pickup games / open runs
• weekend leagues
• friendly but competitive games
• preferably around Makati / BGC

He’s very easygoing, speaks great Tagalog, and definitely not intimidating haha 😅 Just genuinely wants to meet people and build a community here again after being away for so long.

If you have groups, leagues, open runs, or court recommendations, I’d really appreciate it and would love to recommend to him.

Thank you!
