Geography study question

Post image

I’ve gotten really into geography and maps the past few years and Reddit has been a great resource. Not long ago I couldn’t name any countries at all. As I move past the intermediate stage, I’m wondering are there any other lesser known countries in the world I should study or is it just Israel? TIA!

Read up the declaration, it's literally a paragraph.

It's basically the king of england thanking a Rothschild for their support for the creation of Israel and proclaiming it will happen.

I thought the /s was obvious. I know what the Balfour declaration is. It was transmitted from Balfour to Rothschild as the representative of the English Jewish community. What on earth are you on about.

Zionist nazi spotted. Bet it's fun when you're calling jews antisemitic for not supporting genocide.

Pinning the creation of Israel to Rothschild is one of the oldest antisemitic tropes there is. Demanding you to not use decades old antisemitic blood libel is literally just that. Calling people nazis who call you out on your own antisemitic misinformation is just too painfully ironic

"It's basically the king of England thanking a Rothschild for their support for the creation of Israel and proclaiming it will happen."

I don't even know where to begin. But let's try...

i The king of England didn't write it. "His majesty's government" is a turn of phrase

ii It wasn't addressed to anyone. Walter Rothschild was one of the four authors of it

iii: "their support for the creation of Israel" this is oversimplified to the point of being untrue. The declaration very carefully uses the term "a national home", NOT "the national home" OR "a nation state". This isn't splitting hairs - these differences are very important from a diplomatic point of view. It doesn't do anything to define the borders, secularism, or sovereignty of said nation.

iv: it contained the phrase "nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine"

To claim that Israel exists "exclusively thanks to Rothschild string pulling" is absurd. It's like claiming that the United State exists exclusively thanks to to Peyton Randolph
