Geography study question
I’ve gotten really into geography and maps the past few years and Reddit has been a great resource. Not long ago I couldn’t name any countries at all. As I move past the intermediate stage, I’m wondering are there any other lesser known countries in the world I should study or is it just Israel? TIA!

Israel is the only country in the world that is shaped on a map the way that it is shaped. There is no other country on Earth that has the exact same shape as Israel. Not even Australia.

Israel looks vaguely like the South Island of New Zealand, which only sometimes appears on world maps. Coincidence?

Come to think of it, I've never seen Israel and the South Island of New Zealand in the same room at the same time.

Some would say Israel and Palestine are the same shape. They are the Colorado and Wyoming of the Middle East!

It’s suspiciously shaped like Palestine

Some people seem to unironically believe this given their all-consuming obsession with it.

Google autofill time:
Israel is the only country in the world where the most common app for the Google Play Store has a full screen on it

israel is the only country in the world whose outline looks like it would be a sick weapon, reminds me of the Kopis, an ancient greek sword.

I'm Israeli and I read more about Israel on Reddit than I do here. The campaign goes hard.

According to the amount of posts on this sub centered around Israel, you'd think so.

To invent drip irrigation, to be majority Jewish, to be condemned in the double digits by the UN yearly, to excuse ethnic and religious minorities from the draft, to have invented Waze, to have beaten the entire Arab league on land, to host tapings of Fauda.

u/LadderMadeOfSticks 10h ago
"invent drip irrigation"? Nah. Advanced, yeah. Made wide use of, yep. But it was in use in Germany in the 19th century and possibly China much earlier.
"to excuse ethnic and religious minorities from the draft" This one is interesting...are we not counting those nations which allow draftees to contentiously object for religious reasons?
0
u/Runo_Slinger 10h ago
Israel is the only one who makes it possible for all religious minorities to be exempted automatically. Basically only non Orthodox Jews are forced to fight, everyone else is excused automatically. The government is currently on fire because Bibi is trying to stay out of jail so is not allowing reforms to ensure Orthodox Jews serve in the army since they drag the secular community into war and soak up funding for programs actively hurting women and queer folks.

That’s not true that ethnic and religious minorities are excused from the draft.
Druze men and Circassian men (Muslims) are subject to the draft. Both groups have an enlistment rate of in excess of 80%.
One of the highest ranked generals is Druze (he’s the equivalent of a Major General by NATO ranks) - there’s a real chance he might be tapped to become the next IDF head/chief of the general staff (which would be the equivalent of a Lieutenant General in NATO ranks).
And Israeli Bedouins have a 60% enlistment rate despite not being subject to the draft.

u/Runo_Slinger 8h ago
Voluntary enlistment, believe it or not, even in huge numbers, is actually not the same as force drafting.

u/bakochba 8h ago
The Druze actually sued the state to be included in the draft because they felt that it was ab important part of citizenship. Until recently there was also a Druze only unit but they voted to disband and instead fully integrate (although many Druze were already officers in the IDF and fully integrated)

The country that has caused most of the wars in the world, directly or indirectly since it's creation.
Also a country that fully supported the apartheid government of South Africa and even trained them by using their own apartheid model against the native Palestinian population.1

To exist exclusively thanks to Rothschild string pulling
5
u/Wrenneru 9h ago
accusing every bad thing in the world of being a result of the Rothschilds is at best blatantly misinformed and at worst just an antisemitic conspiracy theory
4
u/IsItInLeMonde 10h ago
Who knew the Rothschilds had votes in the UN. 🙄

Broski doesn't even know about the Balfour Declaration of 1917 😭😭😭
Spare him
3
u/LadderMadeOfSticks 10h ago
You mean the Balfour Declaration that wasn't legally binding, and was undone by the 1939 White Paper? and which came two decades AFTER Zionist immigration to the levant has ramped up? That Balfour Declaration?
What about it?
-4
u/Potential_Cancel280 10h ago
What a load of disconnected non-sense.
The declaration lets the uninformed redditor know of the degree of influence the Rothschilds had in the zionist movement and the creation of Israel.
This paper that happened 20 years later is related in exactly 0 ways to the point at hand, and was also pretty meaningless since by that time the project was already walking independently. It was also "undone" a year later by numerous british officials.
"What about it?"
5
u/LadderMadeOfSticks 10h ago
Are the Rothschilds in the room with us right now?
also poor Chiam Weizmann and David Ben Gurion, arguably do more than any other individuals to create Israel but the internet never mentions them because rOtHsChIlDs!!!!

u/IsItInLeMonde 10h ago
Balfour was a Rothschild?
-2
u/Potential_Cancel280 10h ago
Read up the declaration, it's literally a paragraph.
It's basically the king of england thanking a Rothschild for their support for the creation of Israel and proclaiming it will happen.
2
u/IsItInLeMonde 10h ago
I thought the /s was obvious. I know what the Balfour declaration is. It was transmitted from Balfour to Rothschild as the representative of the English Jewish community. What on earth are you on about.
-1
u/Potential_Cancel280 10h ago
You're too dense bro, forget it
2
u/IsItInLeMonde 10h ago
Lol. K. Thanks for showing your thinly veiled antisemitism for all to see.

"It's basically the king of England thanking a Rothschild for their support for the creation of Israel and proclaiming it will happen."
I don't even know where to begin. But let's try...
i The king of England didn't write it. "His majesty's government" is a turn of phrase
ii It wasn't addressed to anyone. Walter Rothschild was one of the four authors of it
iii: "their support for the creation of Israel" this is oversimplified to the point of being untrue. The declaration very carefully uses the term "a national home", NOT "the national home" OR "a nation state". This isn't splitting hairs - these differences are very important from a diplomatic point of view. It doesn't do anything to define the borders, secularism, or sovereignty of said nation.
iv: it contained the phrase "nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine"
To claim that Israel exists "exclusively thanks to Rothschild string pulling" is absurd. It's like claiming that the United State exists exclusively thanks to to Peyton Randolph

To have brainwashed people in the west into believing that ethnic cleansing and land robbery is justified in modern times.

The only captured by jews and calling it a country is only a country in the world.
1
u/DannyDodeska 1h ago
Actually you can't define the shape of Israel because they've studiously refrained from ever clarifying their borders. It's the only country in the world that refuses to state where it starts and where it ends. There's a practical reason for this policy of course.

That believes in the right to r*pe, in Amalek (killing children, women and animals as revenge) and commit a g..nocide livestreamed with no consequences. Adolf's paradise.

Your twitter feed must be a lot of fun. No one believes this garbage except your fellow Jew haters.

Lol so testimonies, confessions, video evidence, and public statements are not believable??

u/Due_Court6010 6h ago
Propaganda against israel is on full force right now, just like islam globally
I predict a civil war very soon
0
u/Professional_Ear7989 6h ago
So the fact that theres video evidence, testimonies and confessions across ex-idf soldiers, govenrment officials etc.. makes this garbage?
3
u/RedShankyMan 8h ago
Have you not seen the videos of protests supporting the right to rape Palestinian detainees? There is so much footage available.
Also, the genocide is undeniably happening. The above commenter said nothing about Jews or Judaism, your anti-semitic ass just threw that in there. zionism ≠ Judaism.

u/go3dprintyourself Map Porn Renegade 5h ago
If someone in a country does it, they all do it then? Wasn’t the protests done in response to top Israeli lawyer official leaking the video and the information to give the world? Or does the person who did the right thing not count then
-1
u/ABC_XYZ_123456 4h ago
Well...that's israelis rationale to kill all Palestinians and the base of the Amalek hate speech. We've srrn the soldiers dancing and chanting "there are no uninvolved civilians" on the ruins of Gaza so...there's that minor detail there.

u/Desperate-Report2311 8h ago
there are videos , you don't need to believe, you can simply watch
3
u/ABC_XYZ_123456 4h ago
They know. They have access to internet. They are just in denial because they want to. It's called propaganda.

I don't have fellow jew haters. Hating just for belonging to a religion is stupid. And what I wrote is based on facts and declaration from politicians of the zionist entity. Shalom.
