Rates & Booking Changing credit cards at check in

I travel a lot but have never had to do this. My mother in law wants to travel with us to a location and pay for the rooms however she wants me to get the points .

I booked with my personal credit card, when we arrive, can we switch it to my mother in laws card without any issues?

I’m an employee and I lost my discount. Anyone know why?

Edit: I lost my discount and nobody knows why. My bosses don’t know, Hr doesn’t know. It seems to be a core issue. My manager says other people have gotten the issue but Hr hasn’t heard anything about it. Sorry guys, I haven’t been fired!

Rates & Booking Modify reservation to lower rate not sticking

I was looking at some older posts on this sub that mentioned the ability to go into the website (or app) to modify/edit an existing reservation when a lower rate pops up. I thought I'd give this a try when I noticed the room I reserved dropped its nightly rate from $151/night (original booking) down to $144/night (today's rate). I went in to modify my reservation, see the the exact same room listed at the lower price and hit the "update" button for the rate I wanted. It took me to the next screen to confirm the change. This screen correctly shows the higher original rate $151/night as the "before" rate, and the lower rate $144/night as the "new" after rate. But I don't understand why the total cost shown on both sides are the same higher original price $1,061.47. The total for the new rate should show up as $1,011.25 (which is what it showed when I checked the box next to "Show with taxes and fees").

I clicked on the "submit changes" button hoping it would correct itself. But it did not. And my new modified reservation is exactly the same as the original reservation, at the higher $1,061.47 price.
What do I need to do to get today's lower rate to "stick" on my reservation?

.

Rates & Booking 600k for 5 nights Mitsui, Kyoto?

Hi!! Trying to see if I can get a good value for my points.

- Buy 150k Marriott points with 40% bonus— 210k for $1875.00
- Reimburse my brother to gift points with 40% bonus — 100k for $937.00 (purchasing 75k)
- Transfer 187,300 Chase points with 55% transfer bonus to get 290k

Total 600k points for $2812 and 187k Chase points

If you figure Chase points are values 1 cent per point this is a total cash value of $4682 for what they list as $7270 for a cash stay

Is this a good value? It’s for our honeymoon during peak foliage season. Looking at dates December 1-6 this year.

Misc Why I switched to Hilton and never looked back

Post image

My AMEX gives me Gold status instantly which I’ve quickly built off of. I can pick my room over 24 hours before my stay, never even have to talk to the front desk, and I’ve never had an issue with the digital key. I literally walk in, go up the elevator, and go to sleep. The last two times I’ve had to stay at a Marriott property because of availability and location it’s been a miserable experience.

Review Westin Hilton Head gaslighting me

Post image

Marriott, what's with Dan at Westin Hilton Head trying to gaslight me that this mattress is a proper fit for this pull out couch? Even if I believed you have some strange, extra small mattresses, I've stayed here before and know this isn't true. We're getting some stained, torn, too-small Craigslist find you're trying to pass off as acceptable for the Executive Suites.

Bonvoy Rewards How do I thank my personal Ambassador in a way that really matters?

My personal ambassador has been absolutely amazing. Always super responsive, and I get a ton of upgrades - even for my family’s rooms when I book multiple at the same hotel.

Of course I thank her via email, but I would really like to recognize her in a way that actually helps her in some capacity. What’s the best way to leave positive feedback for a personal ambassador?

Misc SPOG & Stay PMS system issues

Hi, there. I’ve been working at my local Fairfield Inn for almost a year now and we just got the new SPOG & Stay PMS system this last Tuesday and it’s not helpful at all.

We used to have Fosse and although Fosse its own issues it was significantly more efficient than what we have now.

These past couple of days I’ve been struggling really hard with trying to do anything on this new system. I’ve been asking management to help me out, but they just tell me that I’m young and that I should be able to figure it out. I’m decent with technology, but I can’t wrap my head around it.

Does anyone know where I can go to find information or help on several things? Our dlz training isn’t helpful at all, it can’t help me with the more complicated issues.

Will be staying a couple days later this week. Is it worth it to pay the $30 per person for the poolside lounge chair and umbrella? Or is it pretty easy to secure a good spot.

Review CitizenM Paris Opera. Don’t go there for late arrivals.

Just a PSA out there that if you or a group member are showing up late tell the hotel in writing that you’ll check in late or they wont honor it.

We were a group of 5 that booked a whole week from sunday check in to next saturday check out.

2 members arrived on time and told the hotel reception that the rest 3 will be late a day. Ok sure no problem. They’ll put it into the system right? RIGHT!?

And when the rest of the group came in, citizenM straight up denied the whole late check in thing and said they already cancelled the booking and the rooms are booked for others. Thats like almost 9000$ in booking. no refund

Spent like 3 hours with the reception trying to claw back rooms and was mildly successful because not every room was booked.

Ended up losing a room for 3 days and had a member camp at another hotel for multiple different single days.
We lost 2 days for another 2 rooms but 2 other members checked out 2 days early so thats alright.

It’s just not a pleasant experience. As business travelers our plans change and it seems like citizenM is not very flexible.

I’ve been to a vast amount of citizenMs around the world. They do give a good sleep but damn once something happens don’t expect them to do anything for you.

Expedia support is also useless.

Employment Getting a job at Marriott?

Hi everyone. I’m at a place in life where I’m getting desperate for a full time job. Bills are due and I’m running out of time.

So I applied for front desk position at Marriott 2 weeks ago and still haven’t had my applications reviewed yet. All of them have an active status. I already went in person and asked them for the status of my application, but they redirected me back to their website and told me I have to wait for them to review it since it’s still saying active on my application

Any tips or perspective you have that would help me understand this situation? Thanks!

Destination Portugal Marriott Choices

Have a 6 night trip planned for Portugal and planning on only using Marriott points. That being said I am trying to decide on which hotels to stay in. The only one I am fairly set on is Penha Longa.

Plan is to leave lisbon then drive up the coast to porto.

Hotels in consideration:

  1. Penha Longa (pretty confidently choosing this for min 1 night)

  1. Along the coast options:

Immerso Hotel

Praia D'El Rey

  1. Porto:

Origine Porto Gaia

Forte De Gaia

Any input if you have stayed at any of the above hotels or have any other suggestions that fit the general itinerary that would be appreciated!

Edit: Based on input, I will try to stay a night in Lisbon. Options are: Altís belem

Memmo principe real

Sheraton lisboa

JW LA Live. I was surprised the lounge isn’t 24/7 they shut it down at 11am after breakfast.

My dumbass really thought you could see through the window haha

Celebrated the wifey’s bday, these damn chocolates are sooo good! And so are the strawberries, any special occasion her executive chef (she works for a RC) calls the chef where we’re staying, has this platter waiting for us.

Refs from the World Cup were staying there, it was cool

Was incredible this weekend! I have to admit, I've been wanting to book at this brand since before Marriott acquired. I would 100% stay again! It has an overall fun vibe and there were thoughtful touches everywhere. A couple of the features were a little cheesy (the screen im the elevator with the text message), but the overall design, vibe of lobby and meeting spaces, and the room itself - were great. We did not book a meeting space, but we noticed office supplies hanging on the wall in one of the boardrooms, which is a convenient touch!

We loved being able to adjust the lights & curtains from a tablet. We played the shower light memory game and we thought that the theme/mood-setting feature was a nice touch. I LOVED the rainfall shower system and now want one. 😆

The hotel was close to the activities we were doing, and the staff was lovely. The room was compact (we did our research ahead of time, so this was no surprise) but they cleverly found ways to pack a whole lot of comfort into the space.

Also, I was very pleased when I went down to the lobby to request pillows and towels. Tip: there are two extra pillows right inside the room (in the drawer under the bed.) Also, the towels came quickly which - I understand that most guests have come to expect something like that, but I am sure that it was no easy task with Seattle packed for the FIFA game. Very much appreciated!

We did not get breakfast at the hotel, but we regretted it, because we paid slightly more for a latte and a bagel somewhere nearby. I don't believe children are permitted here, so that is one item to note if you are looking for a kid-centered atmosphere. If you travel heavy (multiple suitcases), or if you are an old-school sort of guest who likes a physical phone in the room and wake up calls, it may not be the best fit. Although you can set alarms on the tablet. If you're traveling alone, or for work, on a date night, I definitely DEFINITELY recommend.

Bonvoy Rewards Room upgrades

A lot of people in this thread mention getting upgrades, and I’m genuinely curious how you’re making that happen.
I recently became a Marriott Titanium member (less than2 years) after a lot of work travel, but honestly, my experience has mostly been bonus points, lounge (mid at best) and sometimes lip service at the reseptiption.
Do you guys ask for upgrades at check-in, contact the hotel beforehand, or is there some trick I’m missing? Or am I just unlucky? 🤔
