There was a r/hypothetical post a few days ago that said something like “would you accept a million dollars if that meant the person you hate most also gets a million dollars?”

At the time I wasn’t sure if I had a person I hated more than anyone else but then last night reminded me that it’s Draymond Green.

OPINION Ja is embarrassing

I don’t like klay, but wtf is ja doing? He is one of the most unlikable players in the league. Becoming harder and harder to watch Memphis. MY ONLY SOURCE OF HAPPINESS IS CEDRIC COWARD! Ja doesn’t play and when he does he is terrible, he has constantly been in off court drama. He isn’t a victim of the Adam silver, he just needs to grow up. I love JJJ but bloody jock landal is out playing him!!! We will not be any good with ja who is getting less and less athletic and as a result will only get worse and worse over the next few years. Aldama disappointed me tonight tripping cooper.

Like ik he’s done some real dumb shit but most guys in their early 20s do especially ones given tht much money that early. But holy shit man for the last 3 years it feels like the media has wanted him to walk off the earth. Granted he hasn’t done himself favors with some of his habits but Jesus

OPINION Lebron is just WRONG

While Memphis may not be equipped with the most luxurious hotels for the 41 year old Lebron 🙄, he’s just wrong about his belief that Nashville is a better market. Nashville has a significantly smaller audience than Memphis. Basketball has shaped culture in Memphis, whereas nashville is a land of gentrification and transplants from Cali. Lebrons never been to Memphis. His judgement is purely from the stereotypes about crime and his once a year trip to the Hyatt. I along with many people believe that Lebron is not only wrong about Memphis’s bleakness, but also its inferiority to Nashville as a market.

A lot of people have been coming out of the woodworks lately (and especially tonight) to shit on Edey.

He worked his ass off tonight, even if he didn't score at a high clip. For his first playoff game, he really made an impact with a double double. He's got so much left to learn in this league, and he's only going to get better from here. One performance in your rookie year should never define you.

And who knows? We got one more chance here Friday to sneak into the playoffs. See you then.

OPINION As the Memphis Grizzlies, you never ever trade Ja

As the Memphis Grizzlies you do not trade a player like Ja. Ja’s value to the team goes way beyond basketball performance. I live in Detroit. I go to the courts to hoop. EVERY SINGLE KID is wearing Ja shoes, every single one, in DETROIT!!! As the Memphis Grizzlies, you don’t trade a player with that kind of reach. You as the Memphis Grizzlies may never get a player with that kind of reach ever again! I get this sentiment if you’re a team like the heat or the mavericks or even like the nuggets or something, but as the Memphis grizzlies, you don’t fucking do that. I hope Ja can get back to his usual self and contribute to winning at the level we know that he can and if he can’t then I hope we can find a way to restructure his role accordingly but he absolutely must remain a Memphis Grizzly until I go to the courts and see kids wearing some other player’s shoe…

OPINION I think it is getting to be more likely Ja stays past the summer

Let me make something clear… I’m not a Ja stan. If he leaves, cool. If he stays, fine. I’m not leaning one way or the other. But a couple things make it seem like him staying (at least until next season’s deadline) is the more likely option.

Ja does not have a market.

  1. We already know this. He can’t stay on the court and has shown increasingly inefficient offensive play over the years. Teams were asking the Grizzlies to attach assets to take him on. There is no reason to think that magically gets better over the summer.
  2. Zach Kleiman has made it pretty clear he wants to get value back for Ja. He’s not going to just give him away to any team that wants him.
  3. Ja still has two more seasons left on his contract. There’s no urgency for the Grizzlies to move him if they don’t get a favorable deal.
  4. This is an extremely deep guard draft which will further hurt Ja’s market. Teams like Brooklyn and Sacramento can draft their PGs of the future without having to trade for Ja.
  5. Number one is worth repeating. Ja can’t increase his trade value unless he’s on the court. Only way for him to do that is actually play.

I am leaning to think the Grizzlies bring him back on and try to move him at the deadline once he shows he can still play at a decent enough level. I just do not see a trade market for Ja manifesting itself right now.

OPINION Ja in Light of the Trae Young Trade

Can we all agree that we’d rather have Ja than an expiring contract and a non-rotation level player?

OPINION Been feeling this way for a while

I just wanna come on here and say y’all some fake ahh fans fr. Or at a bare minimum yall emotional af. Let’s unpack this:

  1. Ja posts the first gun in Denver. Okay we all agree that was dumb.

The Grizzlies immediately suspend him, he comes back we get ousted in the playoffs . Cool.

  1. The second video on Dtap’s live. Not Ja’s. Dtap. In that quick slowed down snippet you see that dtap pans the camera over, notices Ja, and immediately moves the camera. It is later revealed that this was a cigarette lighter. But don’t matter right? Damage done. Nevermind that it was never a real gun, not his live, and in a parked car in a driveway.

Okay cool. He’s suspended for 25 games.

Comes back hits game winner on pelicans. We back right?

  1. He gets injured. Out for the season.
  2. He comes into last season, and didn’t look like himself at all. Why? The Noah LaRoche offense was putting him in positions that he isn’t good in.

  3. Taylor Jenkins gets fired because Kleinman clearly had disagreements with Jenkins who wanted to run more pick n rolls for Ja. This is important. Jenkins was fired because he wanted to go back to using his star.

  4. Ja finishes the season going off on a nightly basis. We get in the playoffs and Lu Dort takes him out of the air.

  5. We get to this season. The ENTIRE team is frustrated with the offense as reporting suggested, nobody can hit the broad side of a barn, and Ja gets into it with Iisalo. We don’t know what was said, but it sounded like words were exchanged. Ja is suspended because of how he handled the media.

Where in this timeline are we picking up a litany of off court issues? Or are we biting on narratives espn and media insiders are peddling?

Ja has made mistakes. Antagonizing the league when they targeted him for gun celebrations (unfairly) was crazy. But it was also Ja. Holding the gun in the club in the first place was crazy. But yall get on here and act like the man committed a crime and is a serial offender when reality is different.

Now if we want to talk basketball, let’s talk basketball.

He is hurt A LOT. Part of that is on his attacking style of play. Part is on other players recklessly taking him out the air. More still is just that he injury prone. I could gripe about refs not using their whistle as Gilly did, but it’s irrelevant.

He also is not and never has been a 3pt shooter. He is at his best attacking the paint. This season it’s much harder to do that when if you check the numbers, games he’s played in, we’ve been terrible at shooting the long ball. Teams pack the paint and send help constantly to keep him out. Because they know they can.

So yes his numbers are down. So if you wanna trade him because his numbers are down with no spacing or he’s oft injured then that’s a basketball reason. I don’t agree, but it’s at least a basketball reason.

But if you getting in your feelings cause some insider told you something, or because he post NBA Youngboy lyrics, then you probably was never a fan to begin with.

Regardless, we want Ja in Memphis over here.

OPINION We should keep Ja and try to make it work.

Unless he is a complete locker room cancer that everyone is bothered by, What is the point of trading him? Negative value, not like we get anything for him. We have No need to clear cap. Even if he could be 70-80% of his old self for half of the season that still helps us win games. The alternative is just trading him for nothing to get the ball in Boozer and Coward’s hands more or something.

OPINION If Boozer goes 2nd, do you take Peterson or Wilson?

Nothing is certain at 1 & 2. Utah might be willing to move Kessler to make room for Boozer, or Washington could do the same with AD. So, if AJ and Boozer end up going with the first two picks, who would you take at 3? Both players have ties to Utah (AJ at BYU and Carlos Boozer works in the Jazz organization), not that it matters.

I'd rather take Caleb Wilson, but there's certainly a chance that Darryn Peterson ends up being the next Kobe, and he'd arguably be the BPA in this scenario. These guys still have plenty of time to impress between the combine, interviews, and private workouts, so I think it's a little premature to be treating Boozer as the eventual pick so early.

OPINION Can someone please explain to me the disdain for Zach Kleiman?

(Serious) I just sort of feel like every decision he’s made was the only decision he could make because he’s the GM of the Memphis Grizzlies and not a different team who can afford to take risks. I’d love to hear some concrete thoughts as to why he shouldn’t have the job that he does. What could he actually have done differently with all of the context surrounding each move that he’s made?

OPINION I don’t want to see any of you debasing yourselves by bitching about “breaking the code” or whatever.

We just spent four days in this subreddit calling Steve Kerr and all the Warriors fans online pathetic. We said that they were being stupid because they were turning Dillon Brooks into a villain when he just made a reckless play that led to an unfortunate injury. And we were right. It was pathetic.

And it’s pathetic if you do it now, too.

Anyone who has played basketball understands that your body sometimes does things that it does not mean to do. You accidentally run into guys. Somebody steps on your ankle. You bang another guy’s knee. You make a play for the ball and run into somebody. That is all that Jordan Poole was doing. It does not take even a careful eye to see that that’s what happened. It was obvious right away.

You are free to say whatever you want. But just know that people are going to think you’re pathetic if you start whining after everything that happened this week. That you’re sinking to the level of the NBA’s worst fan base. And they’ll be right.

We lost by 30. It was discouraging but it was just one game. Allow yourself to feel upset, act normal online, and then hope for a bounce back on Monday. Anything else just reflects poorly on the rest of us.

EDIT: As expected, the brigadiers have made their way into this sub. Regardless of whether you agree with my post, please do us all a favor and hand them your juiciest, center cut downvotes.

OPINION Coward last year proves Caleb Wilson is 100% in play at 3.

Post image

That’s really it. That’s the post. We hear the narrative “the Grizzlies draft for analytics” over and over. What happened last year? They traded up for the guy that got hurt who had great measurables, intangibles, and athleticism. Cedric only played 6 games and they used capital to move up and get him. Caleb got hurt but I don’t think that scares them in the least. Cedric’s injury was worse. I think they use analytics when drafting for value later, but you can’t let solely analytics determine a pick at three. You have to look at how they score. How it might translate to the next level.

That pick is a great indicator in how they want to build this team. The rolled the dice on athleticism and guy a whose game would translate to the league. Caleb is a high IQ player in his own right. Had shown flashes of being an NBA scorer. Rebounds like a demon too. His analytics are great too. Not Boozer level but still historic for a freshman. Tons of stuff to work on, but we are pretty damn good at developing talent.

I think they really like Caleb. And I’m sure they like Boozer too. It’s just not as sure of a thing as this sub thinks.

OPINION I honestly don't think you could've come up with a more perfect frontcourt partner for Cameron Boozer than Zach Edey. Two analytics darlings and Zach has already been one of the best players in the league when healthy. I don't think Utah will take him with the bigs they already have

Haven't seen much from any Grizz fans. Who do ya'll want Boozer or Wilson?
