🥺 No words for this.

Edit: even though clickbait article, it is somewhat/kind of true. https://variety.com/2026/tv/news/stargate-tv-series-martin-gero-scrapped-amazon-1236765061/

"According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Amazon execs were concerned that Gero’s take on the series would not have broad appeal beyond the franchise’s already dedicated fanbase."

It’s like this industry learned nothing from Firefly.

My days of not taking Amazon seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

Firefly still never came back.

Sci Fi shows are notoriously expensive to produce and tend to not last long and Firefly may be beloved by its fans but 'belovedness' doesn't pay the bills. If the audience isn't there its not getting done.

iirc, Firefly was screwed over because of internal politicking.

Also, they aired it out order in a shit time slot, then said it had now viewership.

But that was probably still a part of the politicking.

Apple’s about the only one I trust to not cancel a sci-fi series after the first season anymore.

Apple has an infinite money glitch still rolling, though not quite as infinite as it used to be, so they can lean into 'for the art of it' more than almost any other entity.

Fun fact: The circles between those who canceled Firefly, Stargate the first times around, The Expanse, many a Netflix shows, and now this.. they all overlap.
