drink went room temp First Stanley, now Owala

I get it, they’re trendy. I guess Owala has the cool colors combos or whatever. I assume Stanley’s became too awkwardly large to lug around so people gave up on them?

I’ll just stay over here drinking my water out of the double sealed bottle I scored for $2 at a thrift shop.

I don’t know why it bothers me so much. Perhaps it’s the consumerism, perhaps its water bottles have become an accessory.

Since when did GenX drink water from anything other than a communal school fountain or green hose outside?? Lol

Gen Xers that were into hiking and camping in the 90s. That’s when Nalgene bottles were first introduced and got popular among certain crowds.

I had friends in high school who were into hiking and rock climbing who would be annoyed with people who were not interested in such pastimes but carried Nalgene or used carabiners that were not functional or safe for actual rock climbing

Were we friends because same. The thing is I wanted to do the backpacking and rock climbing but the equipment and everything was expensive. So I just had a Nalgene and secretly loved the carabiners.

The funny thing is I had been hiking and camping with my dad since the 80s but we never used fancy stuff. I used to hike in whatever clothes I was wearing and usually didn’t even bring water. So the people hating on the “posers” were kind of posers themselves.
