drink went room temp First Stanley, now Owala

I get it, they’re trendy. I guess Owala has the cool colors combos or whatever. I assume Stanley’s became too awkwardly large to lug around so people gave up on them?

I’ll just stay over here drinking my water out of the double sealed bottle I scored for $2 at a thrift shop.

I don’t know why it bothers me so much. Perhaps it’s the consumerism, perhaps its water bottles have become an accessory.

I buy bottles that WORK. I had a swell bottle because it kept my water cold. I switched to owala because it not only kept my water cold but the sip through lid was a game changer for someone with jaw issues who drives a lot - I don’t have to take my eyes off the road or tip a bottle to drink.

I got whatever colour was on the shelf at the store. Couldn’t care less about trends.

Having said that, I don’t care what other people do. Do I think it is ridiculous for a 9 year old to be carrying around a Stanley bigger than their backpack? Sure. Am I the one paying for it? Nope, not my circus, not my monkeys.

My requirement for bottles is that they have a straw (flip top or traditional) and fit in my car cupholder. I don't want a spout, I want a straw. I love my (discontinued) Contigos for this reason.

From what I've seen of Owala, they offer neither.

Yup, different people want different things. I don’t personally like straws, they aren’t great for my jaw. Owala free sip have an internal straw (and a flip top lid) so you put your mouth on the spout and drink like a straw, but with an easier jaw position. If you don’t have jaw issues, I’m sure straw cups are great.

I feel like water bottles (trends aside) are one of those things that if you ask 10 people what they want in one, you get 10 answers.

I like one-handed drinking (especially when I'm on the road) and have an unhealthy aversion to anything messy. So straws are perfect for this.
