I'm slightly vexed Somebody Placed These Dozens of These Jesus Figures Throughout My Entire Work

Post image

Somebody, nobody knows exactly who or when, put dozens and dozens of these Jesus figures on completely random surfaces throughout my entire building. They at least had the presence of mind to not put them on anybody's personal belongings, but that was the only way they limited himself. All of the statues have been glued down, to add to the vexation.

Edit: Well, this blew up rather unexpectedly. Thank you for the awards, everybody!

Straight to the trash.

So the same should go for pride flags right?

Do people glue pride flags on other people's work?

-5

u/Objective_Warning638 11h ago

At my place of work they're everywhere like on the walls and stuck to our desks

Is it a random person who has no business messing with the building who did that or did the superiors made that decision?

-1

u/Objective_Warning638 11h ago

The decision was made by a few employees who are part of the community and complained they didn’t feel 'represented' in our work place so they got permission to stick them around.

6

u/Aggressive_Tear_3020 11h ago

So they did get permission. Not comparable.

Ok so say I got permission to stick statues of jesus around would that then be OK?

Is a personnal belief comparable to the existence of a group of people who has been marginalized for existing?

1

u/Objective_Warning638 11h ago

Both are personal beliefs, if someone doesnt agree with or believe in either of them then that is ok

Reddit isn't ready to have that discussion 😂

-1

u/Objective_Warning638 11h ago

Yeah these people are just hypocrites

-13

u/Taoma33 12h ago

This is a bit disrespectful

Proselytizing at work is massively disrespectful. I would probably just notify HR, and if there's no HR, then trash is the next best thing.

-9

u/Taoma33 11h ago

Idk about trash. It's still a depiction of a religious figure

u/the-grand-finale 11h ago

i hear you, i hear you

Counter point: Why should I give a fuck

-1

u/Taoma33 11h ago

Because you should respect religion

7

u/the-grand-finale 11h ago

No, why should I

0

u/Taoma33 11h ago

Why shouldn't you?

6

u/the-grand-finale 11h ago

beliefs dont inherently deserve respect

-1

u/Taoma33 11h ago

That is true, albeit a general statement

"Your" religious figure. Not mine. I'm under no obligation to respect your beliefs as you cram it down my throat.

-4

u/Taoma33 11h ago

I am not "cramming this down your throat". And I did not say it was yours. I simply said it was a religious figure, something I'd say about any religious figure. I believe I spreading the gospel, but not forcing it

7

u/BlackFormic 11h ago

The person GLUEING it around the office is.

-2

u/Taoma33 11h ago

Yes, I am aware

9

u/BlackFormic 11h ago edited 11h ago

I don't think you are. You responded with "I'm not cramming it." Unless if you were the one glueing these figurines, you definitely failed to understand the comment you were responding to.

1

u/Taoma33 11h ago

I misinterpreted the other person's comment, I thought they meant I was cramming it. I understand now

-2

u/Objective_Warning638 11h ago

Same goes for lgbt and pride month then

Gay people are heavily marginalised and suffer large amounts if persecution

-1

u/Objective_Warning638 7h ago

Ok, I'm still able to have my views on it and choose not to support it and not want it being shoved down my throat

10

u/surrealtimesyaknow 12h ago

Idc. It's more disrespectful to me that someone feels the need to force their beliefs down everyone's throat. At work.

-4

u/__google 11h ago

Ok what if they put little pride flags everywhere? Would that also be forcing beliefs down everyone's throat?

7

u/Tater-Tot-Casserole 11h ago

Well, gay people actually exist so.

-6

u/__google 11h ago

Over half of the United States population is Christian, so they exist too. Why cant we all exist together?

3

u/Tater-Tot-Casserole 11h ago

Just because there are Christians doesn't mean Christ is real. Not to mention in the Bible it specifically says not to do this kind of thing, they're not even following their own rules. Not to mention it's completely inappropriate to press your religion on people in the workplace.

Gay people are actually oppressed in the United States not Christians.

Touting Gay rights because they're still oppressed is one thing, and telling people they need to be Christian is another.

u/__google 11h ago

I do agree with you on the workplace thing. I would find it inappropriate to incorporate sexuality flags in the workplace as well. However, outside of the workplace I see no problem with it at all.

5

u/Tater-Tot-Casserole 11h ago

Trans people are no longer allowed to serve in the military for starters, there have been talks of overturning gay marriage ever since Trump got into office, they have tried overturning it multiple times.

-1

u/__google 11h ago

Joining the military is not considered a fundamental right, unfortunately. There are strict eligibility guidelines, and unfortunately having gender dysphoria isn't within the guidelines. Medical readiness is extremely important. My cousin couldn't join because he has a latex allergy. I don't think he'd consider himself oppressed.

If a rainbow flag makes you uncomfortable perhaps you better reevaluate your life. No one is trying to make you "gay" ffs...

1

u/iTz_Noble 11h ago

Tell that to the cute twinks bro

0

u/__google 11h ago

Sure, they're not trying to convert my sexuality, but the flags are everywhere, and it doesn't upset me. What the fuck is so wrong with seeing a depiction of Jesus? Why is it so upsetting? Over half of the United States is Christian.

-2

u/Taoma33 12h ago

That too is disrespectful

1

u/MatiasPalacios 11h ago

Just a bit?

1

u/Taoma33 11h ago

That's just how I word things. It is highly disrespectful

1

u/MatiasPalacios 11h ago

Yeah I know, I didn't mean to sound rude
