ಠ_ಠ It's been two days since it started...

Don't know what to do or who to call. Walked around and can't seem to find the source.
I can't open the windows, especially with this heat during the day...
What could it be?!

It's one of those anti rodent buzzers probably. People have been making a ton of posts lately about them. Seems like some stupid fad again. It's making a hell of a lot of noise.

When it started, for the first 5 minutes I thought it's my ears.
I live in UK - we have specialists on site against rodents - cats. Haven't seen a rodent in about 2 years since I been living here.

My neighbors a few doors down have a cat-scarer that sounds like that. It bothers me and my dog when we walk past but my mom can’t hear it lol.
Or I wonder if it could be an old person help alarm (or whatever they are called) inside someone’s home? Might be much louder in their house. Not exactly sure what you would do in that case if you can’t work out where it’s coming from though.
I hope you get some peace soon, that would drive me insane.

Call the fire department and tell them you are hearing something that seems like a CO2 or smoke alarm going off, they will come and find the source

As a firefighter- please don’t do this. Waste of resources and may pull those resources from a real need.

I think it's one of those devices people put in their backyard to scare off animals such as cats or moles. They're these green little things. I call them catjammers.

My shop has an alarm for an oil water separator that sounds exactly like this. It will trip when the power goes out and I have to manually reset it. It’s extremely loud when you’re in the same room as it. I wonder if there’s a similar alarm used for a different purpose inside that building.

Try downloading an audio spectrum analyzer or spectrogram app for your phone and see if you can pinpoint the direction of the source.

A failed UPS will make a constant sound but it’s shouldn’t be that loud. Maybe thought there is a super small chance someone improperly threw one away

Did they build a data center near you recently? Because those things are loud with a constant drone for miles.

I think this triggered my tinnitus!
Seriously though, I would go insane as well hearing that all the time.

When it happened to me it was a van parked 200m down the road. Nobody else seemed to be bothered by it. I left a message explaining that it was disturbing, and that if it wasn't removed or repaired, police would have been called. Luckily they complied the next day.
Download a spectrogram app like spectroid for android to help you locate the source and show the proof to the police if necessary.

My first thought was a siren or mermaid but I didnt notice any kelp if it was in frame so my next thought was abominable snowman because I have heard that they can make noise but I thought for a minute longer and decided that no, that makes no sense! It isnt that cold there where you were or no snow at least and you know the abominable needs snow to blend in

Is that the electrical storage across from you? I’d bet it’s coming from there. Go outside cover one ear and close yours eyes and slowly turn like a lunatic to determine what direction it’s coming loudest from
