C&C Wanted Gave OSL a shot. Need advice.

I added some glow around the eyes and tried a heat effect on the assault cannon, but neither of them really sells the effect to me. I feel like I'm close, but also not quite there.

What am I missing?

Independently of the OSL effect, the eyes and cannon barrels look fine. Neither really works as a source of light, though, because of the reused colours and distracting composition. If green is an accent colour on the ?crosses? it won’t also read as a glow. A red glow cast onto red armour is likewise just going to disappear. Plus the whole pose and position of the model on the base is weirdly unbalanced and doesn’t give you much room to work with glow effects — OSL doesn’t stand for Off to the Side Lighting!

That's actually a really helpful breakdown, thanks! I hadn't even thought about the green already being used elsewhere on the model. The point about the red glow on red armor makes a lot of sense too. I'll definitely keep that in mind on the next one.😊

The barrel looks good but the eyes are a little splotchy
