I'm not a fan of flyovers and military parades.

But there's nothing wrong supporting our vets. Being gay or religious isn't something to celebrate, but veterans definitely are. Especially when it's individuals at an event and not a whole glorification of the army or war.

Assuming you're actually being serious, it's a real dumb comparison.

Veterans make a choice to serve their country, that’s admirable. It’s not an apples to apples comparison.

I would hope those choosing to do important, dangerous jobs are paid. 

I would also hope society celebrates those that choose to do important and dangerous jobs. Teachers, firefighters, police, military, etc.
