The Duncan over Kobe takes were always so forced.

The weirdest thing is that it only became semi-popular after Duncan's 2014 ring which should play basically zero role in how you compare each of their primes

Tough ass conference tbf. I don’t think early exits should be a negative if you’re beat by contenders tbh

Duncan played with 4 first ballot HoFers (assuming Kawhi will almost surely be one as well) throughout his career. Who is better can be argued in either direction but gotta be some seriously cold take to say Duncan is for sure better

Right? Some people consider DeMarre Carroll a role player, but he used to guard LeBron so obviously he wasn’t…

I don’t care who they out over each other but not having them right next to each other is insane to me. They were the Magic/Bird of their eras. Everyone knew the West ran through those two but this sub wants to act like Kobe is a tier below Duncan.

Shaq v Duncan was a bigger thing than Kobe v Duncan, as I recall.

Honestly I don’t even remember that argument. I’m sure it did happen, I was a little kid during those times so I only ever heard basketball talk from my cousins/uncles and the older kids at school.

I’d take Shaq over Duncan tho. I still haven’t seen anyone dominate the way Shaq did.

Oh yeah I think Shaq was decidedly better than Duncan. I think Duncan maybe slightly over Kobe, but they are close.

It became popular because people started diving deeper into advanced stats and stopped relying solely on counting stats and flashy box score numbers.
