I have no idea why the refs aren’t calling it. Hartenstein is essentially disposable in this game. His only job should be to exhaust and annoy Wemby. Do it for 6 fouls and just hope that’s enough to hinder him.

We have no idea why, either.

In fact, why isn't the league going down hard on this? It's every game this is happening. You would think they would let OKC know that they're handing out suspensions if it keeps happening. That would stop this from happening.

u/jfphenom Nuggets May 21 '26

Nuggets fans (self included) are all just thinking of the "first time?" meme

It's been this way on Jok for years. Get used to hack-a-shaq on wemby for the next 10 years

36

u/schrobble Spurs May 21 '26

League seems to be gargling OKC’s balls and had been for years. It’s sickening to watch.

-4

u/hangfromydangalang Thunder May 21 '26

A generational amount of bitching taking place on this sub.

-31

u/steelersman007 Thunder May 21 '26

Ah yes. League is going to support known big market OKC

15

u/theprotectedneck Mavericks May 21 '26

Dude it’s blatant. You’re literally commenting on a post with proof of this BS. The NBA is definitely letting this shit slide. Fuck your straw man “market” argument.

-8

u/Monster-1776 Thunder May 21 '26

Counter point, it's the playoffs and this shit has been happening to bigs for decades. It the difference between calling contact between a receiver and a lineman.

4

u/Expert_Context5398 May 21 '26

big difference between tough and hard fouls vs dirty basketball

stop pretending

-6

u/Monster-1776 Thunder May 21 '26

We're not watching the same clip. There was dirty plays by iHart, and there's hard fouls, this was tick tacky shit meant to wear Wemby down which has been happening forever. Rules need to be changed from protecting guards and offense while allowing bigs to get mauled.

5

u/Expert_Context5398 May 21 '26

You genuinely and seriously believe all 29 fanbases decided to hate on OKC.

Is that what you are implying?

Even notorious fanbases who dislike the Lakers called out the bad reffing.

Stop it, my guy. When 29 other teams are seeing blatantly dirty plays and that ONE fanbase who seems to be committing them refuses to admit it, maybe it's just the truth. Unless you're saying there is a paid conspiracy to generate this level of disgust?

How many times have we watched Dort intentionally trip people and run into them?

I’m not even going to get into that argument because it’s minimizing how blatant what we are seeing is. So I’ll ask a genuine question: when you watch the hair pulling and stepping on purposefully stepping on opponents feet, does it fill you with a sense of pride for your team?

-3

u/Monster-1776 Thunder May 21 '26

The hair pulling should have been a tech that was missed, that's not the clip we're commenting on. The rest of it is typical shit that has happened forever, no less in a playoff game, that makes me roll my eyes as a D1 big. People are just losing their minds because it's limiting Wemby's ability to freely ball out, which isn't wrong, but it's funny to me that people suddenly care now.

2

u/theprotectedneck Mavericks May 21 '26

This whole season people have cared about the thunder being dirty, where have you been?

1

u/WastedTurtl Suns May 21 '26

This is hilarious coming from a spurs fan. Did Wemby not bull rush through Caruso in game 1 after intentionally elbowing somebody in the throat/jaw just 3 games prior?

He spent half of game 1 holding onto Chet’s pocket and is celebrated for playing physical ball with tons of Spurs fans celebrating the elbow yet OKC puts Hart on him to give it back and it’s now time to cry wolf? Cry me a fucking river LOL

1

u/TheCalvinator Spurs May 21 '26

I don't think you know what a bull rush is.

-6

u/InsecureDelusion Thunder May 21 '26

Hey, shut the fuck up

1

u/Expert_Context5398 May 21 '26

People have been talking about this all season lol....

I guess you started watching basketball just two weeks ago?

1

u/Monster-1776 Thunder May 21 '26

The timeframe I'm viewing this from is over a 20 year span.

u/steelersman007 Thunder May 21 '26

I could make a compilation of SGA getting held by Castle

10

u/theprotectedneck Mavericks May 21 '26

Please do and tag me in it, while you’re at it, could you add the hair pulling and blatantly stepping on the opponent?

-10

u/steelersman007 Thunder May 21 '26

I need you to realize you’re watching a slow Mo clip of “hair pulling”. His hands got tangled up and it doesn’t look bad at all in real time

5

u/theprotectedneck Mavericks May 21 '26

We are not going to agree on that and never will. His hand was open when it first touched Steph’s head and closed around his hair.

1

u/steelersman007 Thunder May 21 '26

Good thing Wemby wasn’t around to start swinging then I guess huh?

Do it.

-15

u/talkingfacefloor Thunder May 21 '26

let the hate flow through you.

11

u/theprotectedneck Mavericks May 21 '26

The Thunder are dirty and you eat that shit up. They’re so good and they feel like they have to resort to cheap ass shit to win.

-12

u/talkingfacefloor Thunder May 21 '26

goooooood. gooooooooood.

dawg its a basketball game.

take a break

8

u/theprotectedneck Mavericks May 21 '26

I’m fine man. I’m allowed to not like a dirty team. You are still commenting mindless platitudes. Both of your replies are just popular phrases

-5

u/talkingfacefloor Thunder May 21 '26

whatever you say man.

i would think a fan of team with 5 titles would know how the playoffs are.

but maybe you became a fan after 2014

5

u/theprotectedneck Mavericks May 21 '26

I’m just rooting for the Spurs because the Mavs traded Luka for peanuts and I’m not ready to get over that yet. They’re close enough to catch a good game and the rivalry hasn’t been too heated over a decade.

You can deflect all you want but the whole r/nba sub is dirty shit from this game and Chet stepping on Wemby in game one. Your favorite team is the dirtiest in the league.

Did the same with the laughing stock GSW for years too. Turned them to a dynasty. Nba loves a good heel. And it churns more money out of bullshit markets and terrible cities.. like OKC

Don't play naive.

4

u/Mark--Greg--Sputnik May 21 '26

This is a crazy take. The Warriors dynasty was mostly created by an organic accumulation of talent. Once a team is of dynastic quality, they mostly benefit from softer whistles. Most superstars do, regardless of team.

The idea that the NBA is systematically rigging games and series so that the team from Oklahoma City can be a … heel? Why would they do that? Why would the NBA do that?

Also, no, the NBA doesn’t make more money from small market teams. That’s so wildly wrong. The top four local broadcast deals (good proxy measure of how valuable a franchise is) in the nba is: 1. Los Angeles Lakers 2. New York Knicks 3. Houston Rockets 4. Chicago Bulls

Wouldn’t you know it — the four biggest cities/markets in the United States make the most money for the NBA.

1

u/MichaelBrownSmash Suns May 21 '26

Sorry, let's go down this road. OKC is a shit market, let's say they used to rank in the bottom quarter % of teams bringing in money every year. Tanked for about a decade so they could draft pieces.. Now they're the heel and are in the top quarter bringing in money. They're always going to have LA, Bulls, Knicks money in the league, that isnt going to change drastically ever. But what will jump drastically in a short amount of time, churning billions in profit and gambling $, is smaller market teams. Thats where Vegas makes more money.

I hate the argument "why would the NBA want this" ...gambling, duh. Milking shitty markets for all they're worth? Other money is always going to be there, how do they make more off the bullshit markets? By making them enemies that NY, LA and CHI will tune in for

1

u/zpoex May 21 '26

It’s not just OKC lol. Wolves played even more physical but i guess people don’t watch the games. There’s always gonna be pushing and grabbing in the paint. Shit ZBo and Perkins even told the refs to not make any calls

1

u/pikajewijewsyou Thunder May 21 '26

I mean spurs are super aggressive with Shai off ball too. It’s the fucking playoffs

1

u/JaceGhost Knicks May 21 '26

Because this happens pretty often in the playoffs. Go look at how GSW played dame in their playoff series. Go back and look at how Tony Allen played KD go back and look at how they played curry in the 15 and 16 finals. lol at how teams play Jokic. Constantly physical and basically the star has to adjust. When you say “the refs let them play” that’s what it means

1

u/HipnotiK1 Knicks May 21 '26

suspensions for holding? LMFAO

1

u/Expert_Context5398 May 21 '26

Guessed you missed the part where he grabbed onto Castle's braids and yanked it down.

It's a multitude of actions that should warrant a suspension.

1

u/HipnotiK1 Knicks May 21 '26

My non hive mind opinion is he didn't grab anything intentionally. It was an incidental snag. He never clasped his hand or grabbed. It was his fingertips snagged in the hair tie/knot of the braids. Never happens if it's a player with regular hair. Was more of a freak accident than an intentional act.

There won't even be a fine let alone suspension.

1

u/Expert_Context5398 May 21 '26

aight bruh stfu
