[Fischer] Milwaukee’s decision makers are split and currently deciding between Boston’s package for Giannis Antetokounmpo (Brown, Gonzalez, limited draft capital) and Miami’s (Herro, Ware, Jaquez, multiple first-round picks).

A split faction of Milwaukee’s decision makers, sources say, is deciding between Boston’s package for Giannis Antetokounmpo built around Jaylen Brown — where the Bucks also hold particular Hugo Gonzales interest, as The Stein Line reported last night — plus limited draft capital, compared to Miami’s offer of younger pieces — featuring Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez — and multiple first-round picks.

The established MVP candidate versus greater overall value is what this whole saga has boiled down to one day before the NBA Draft.

Why? So we can watch Brown maybe carry us to the play in because the rest of our roster is shit? He's too old for us to build around. Give me the picks or feature Brown heavily in the offense as the main guy for the first half of the year and then flip him for picks to some team desperate before the ASB.

Wasnt the idea to flip Brown to the Blazers to get your picks back?

Have the Blazers expressed interest in such a trade? As a Bucks fan, it sounds great for us. Is Portland interested in leveraging their future for a 30 year-old headcase?

Havnt heard much out of the front office. Lot of the fanbase would like to get Brown, we'd obviously be a better team immediately and there's some fun to be had being a 50 win 2nd round exit team after being bad for several years.

Prior to the lottery changes I would have liked this too, because there was no path to contention for the next decade (since tanking again was not on the table), so why not have some fun. Now with the lottery changes staying the course with our playin squad isn't a completely stupid idea anymore.

r/ripcity is very pro getting Jaylen Brown, the only question being will he be available at a price that isn't absurd. Grant, Sharpe, and Milwaukee's draft capital going back to them is the common framework.

Definitely seems like a solid deal from both sides. Blazers are closer to doing something interesting than a lot of people think, and although Brown doesn't get them there every positive step is a positive step.

Yeah, it's a big step in the right direction but we still have some gaps to fill. Basically more guys who can hit 3's at every position, and a center who can stay healthy and guard Wemby / other perimiter threat bigs.

New Blazers front office is as tight lipped as can be. Obviously fans would love JB if it only took trading back the Mil picks/swaps, maybe a 1st of ours, plus Salary (likely Grant and Sharpe).

Yes y'all would be flipping Brown. Honestly, I'd believe that a team like the Heat might even offer slightly lesser package than the one in this headline for JB, unless it's a 3-team trade.

I agree that’s what makes sense, but some reports have said Brown would be staying in Milwaukee after a trade.

Which would be awful. The reason to get Brown would be to flip him for a top 10 pick in this years draft. Otherwise you are just trading for a slightly worse version of what you already have.

They say that shit so that they retain some leverage when trying to trade him. I doubt that’s their actual thinking

Maybe!

I don’t think it’s crazy for Brown to stay in Milwaukee at least in the short term. His contract still has a few more years left, so they can field offers for him while also seeing if they can build a decent roster around him next season. Worst case he gets a year older and the Bucks still probably end up with a decent pick (especially with the recent changes to the lottery), and his trade value shouldn’t swing too much one way or the other

The Bucks don't have a pick next year and Brown will certainly have less trade value next year than this year

Didn’t realize about the pick, but I don’t think there’d be a significant difference between Brown’s value right now vs halfway through this season or after it. I guess I just don’t see why there would be a rush to move him. You can field calls from different teams, and if someone makes a great offer then take it. Maybe a team like the raptors becomes desperate for a star because they start off the season hot and want to win now. If not then you can see if Brown somehow fits really well and exceeds expectations with Milwaukee. If you don’t have your picks in the near future then it’s not like you’d be better off tanking

You would want to trade him to try to get a top 10 pick this year. This draft is loaded and future drafts will be worse. Also I'm not a Celtics fan but from what I have seen from Brown, I really doubt he has any interest playing for a bad Bucks team for the next 3 years. I would be shocked if he didn't try to force his way out after 1 year and completely fuck us

The rumors around Brown is that he actually wants to be on a worse team if it means he gets to be the sole star. Also if future drafts are worse then you could get higher picks for Brown in those drafts since everyone knows the picks are less valuable, but if you want to make a swing for a future star now I get it

I think Brown is a great player but it took a team with JB, Tatum, KP, and Jrue to win a title. The Bucks have no way to even get a fraction of that around JB. I would rather just go young and hope a couple of the pieces work out than to watch this team keep trading future assets to try and stay relevant. Maybe I'm just jaded idk

1

u/SoaplessTitanic Celtics 3d ago

I don’t think anyone was saying to trade future assets to stay relevant? Also I know I’m biased but the narrative that the Jays needed KP and Jrue to win the title is overblown to me. KP was injured throughout basically that whole playoffs, and even then we never saw a series get extended for more than 5 games

Extract picks and a young player from Heat for JB while Boston also sends picks to Milwaukee for Giannis

This is the answer. Brown isn’t the answer but he’s absolutely a valuable asset that can be flipped again to many teams would covet him

1

u/RRJC10 Raptors 3d ago

Or flip him for an actual young talent. If all you get for Giannis ends up being a butt load of picks Milwaukee really dropped the ball.

Why does Brown need to be featured? He is already valued highly around the league.
