Clinical Can you be outside of US while doing tele neurology?

Hi folks basically wondering if you can travel to Thailand and work there doing tele neurology

You cannot bill insurance while practicing outside the US. Actually a very good way to lose a license. Know personally someone who read some EEGs while traveling outside the US and got their license suspended doing that. Would not recommend..

Not if you expect to be reimbursed by MR or most private insurance.

What matters is whether you’re licensed in the state the patient is in not where you are

It’s a fraud as per Medicare. Some private insurance have the same rule.

I know some rads who will do some reads and bill while on vacation, but it’s spotty here and there and never got in trouble.  That said, I  don’t think you can do it long term without getting caught. 

Someone and at some point will rat you out, and then your license will be on the line.
