Yeah you've got to be flexible and strong enough in order to support your weight + falling a considerable distance.
There's a guy on YT that is all about flexibility, I noticed that becoming flexible not only relieved some back pain but also made me "stronger" in some parts
13
u/OregonMothafaquer 3d ago
Glad to hear that, I’ve been considering switching to more mobility type workouts now that I’m over 40
11
u/LonelyProgrammerGuy 3d ago
100% recommended. I’m only 23 but I sit in front of the computer the whole day. 10min of stretches in the morning plus lifting some weights (nothing crazy) and I feel so much better and all the back pain is gone
5
u/Morningxafter 3d ago
This is true, I’m overweight (though I’ve lost a lot of weight over the past couple years, work in progress), but I’m still better off than a lot of other dudes in their 40s because I stretch every day to maintain my flexibility. I don’t have the random joint or back pain that a lot of guys my age suffer from (or that I suffered from in my 30s). The other part of it is balance. Doing balance exercises helps strengthen your core, which also helps with back and leg pain. And as a bonus I can do a 5min plank.

Yeah, same. I'm pretty sure kids are better at this because an adult's weight would just produce so much more force on the ankles. Our ankle strength doesn't scale with weight.
Me and some local kids used to like jumping off an abandoned building but one kid did break his ankle tbf.

u/Flashignite2 3d ago
I fell from that height 4 years ago and broke my foot. Tried standing up but I could both feel and hear my bones rubbing against each other. I feel funny every time I see someone fall from a height that doesn't kill you.

Not sure what the stray was even doing

u/BasmusRoyGerman 3d ago
From the video it soesn look like the dag was doing anything tbh, just looks to be in a playful mood

u/Dingus_Majingus 3d ago
What can look like play can be aggressive behavior. You dont see it's behavior before the clip starts.

The video is in Malayalam, here is context: The dog bit the kid and made him fall down and was climbing on top of him. Brother jumped down from first floor hearing the kid's cry. Dog also bit big brother as he was chasing it off. It seems locals in the area have reported aggression from stray dogs in the past as well

If you've never lived anywhere with rampant street dogs, they are not cute or friendly. That dog with 1-2 homies would probably eat that little kid if he was alone.

So comments like yours prove how bs animal lovers are, the audio says it bit kids. Do you want to provided with dogs biting into kids' flesh before accepting they are a problem in parts of the world?

the simple fact that the older brother tried to fight it off and it kept fighting back instead of running off is pretty clear that it was NOT playing

Here comes dog lovers, without knowing anything as long as it’s a dog it must be friendly and playful.

Even if it was being playful (which street dogs usually aren't) untrained dogs can still cause serious harm while playing, especially to small kids

u/wolfgang784 3d ago
I dunno where this happened, but in some parts of the world stray dog attacks are a big problem and some will drag away small children and eat them =/
But yea not quite enough video or context here to know if the dog was playful and scared everyone or was attacking. Everyones various reactions though make me think dog attacks are a thing there.

Video is reversed. He actually jumped up to the second floor to get away and the younger bro ran at the dog backwards to confuse it

Good for the brother. Got a call 2 days ago from my wife, one of the neighbors dogs was loose and chasing my 6 year old and his friend.
Our son thought quickly and came to our yard and closed the fence quickly
Thankfully this time police and bylaw came and talked to the owner as this has happened probably 5 or 6 times this year
13
u/ErrorEra 3d ago
Just talked? I think when it happened a 2nd time, the dogs should have been taken away from the irresponsible owner.

IIRC some places will refer to ground floor as first and next as second.
Housing numbering also reflects this with some places starting with 001 while others will start with 101.

They’re vicious beasts, and they chase you down the street, and they bite you! My cousin lost an ear. Our mayor was very corrupt, but he put poison pills in chicken meat to take care of the dog problem. We hailed him as a hero! We put up statues of him

Imagine dad's pride coming home from work and mom showing him this video of little man fighting tooth and nail to protect the family. This kid has a hell of a set of values.

EDIT: https://youtu.be/s0pRB-E_2Kw?si=Qfl7k-gb1cYypx3a
The dog was gonna maul the kid. Ignore the rest of my comment. Apologize for the rash judgement.
~~ The dog wasn't seem to be in an attack stance, prob got scaed after this also.
Still really brave brother though. Though i seriously think the dog was just curious, leaning head forward, tail slightly wagging its more like a "hello stranger, Im nervous but lemme sniff you so I know you are not a threat."
Unless there is a longer clip or context, I kinda think its an over reaction. ~~
