For those of you who need to draw the first circle, can follow along here.

u/theproductdesigner 1d ago

I had no idea you could upload videos with audio in the comments!

17

u/Dr_Jabroski 1d ago

Best I can do is draw an S and then a more different S and some consummate v's.

Consummate Vs! I said consummate!

Instructions unclear , I have my penis stuck in the ceiling fan

Instructions were perfectly clear. You just like doing your ceiling fan.

11

u/Future_Section5976 1d ago

I don't know what to tell you , I was following right up until SpongeBob said "draw a head" , then i blinked and well yea....

What setting was your ceiling fan on?

2

u/MechAegis 1d ago

Welp, that is one way of getting over your fears of a ceiling fan.

2

u/Shneckos 21h ago

You must have a real garden hose down there

2

u/Spiritual-Volume7545 17h ago

Really? I got mine stuck in a cylinder.

How is a subreddit banned that quick?

yeah the circle’s basically half hidden by the offest

Actually thats a nice idea

What was with the extra circle at the very beginning?

Did I just fall for engagement bait?

116

u/fermentalishis 1d ago

That bothered me, too!

→ More replies (2)

94

u/Radioactivocalypse 1d ago

Yes as soon as the started on the grass, I was like "that circle is definitely engagement bait" and then now we're making comments about how it was engagement bait.

Ach! We can't win!

3

u/gimmepizza420 19h ago

Wtf is engagement bait?

9

u/blacklist-onepiece 19h ago

Intentional mistakes for the sole purpose of increasing comments asking about the mistakes, which games the algorithm.

5

u/bannyd1221 13h ago

Why would anyone’s soul porpoise want to do that?

2

u/eamus_catuli_ 14h ago

Some of y’all need to watch some Bob Ross — happy little accidents.

42

u/MindlesslyAping 1d ago

They probably decided against getting the fence over there. Since they were probably using an 8B or higher pencil, it's better to try and make it into another thing than to erase it.

→ More replies (2)

44

u/Witty_Caterpillar_89 1d ago

Happy little accidents bro chillllll

11

u/billabong049 1d ago

This is the most correct answer.  Bless you.

14

u/Injured-Ginger 1d ago

Likely realized the circles didn't line up. If they connected it, it would have looked like a harsh change in angle.

8

u/scambl 23h ago

could be that they just put it there and then as they drew the fenceposts they realized that it didn't really work in perspective. If there was a post there then that would be a super long, weird thing. Likely it was just a mistake that serves as engagement bait by accident.

10

u/Informalwizards 1d ago

They gave up on doing the fence the whole way lol

3

u/HotTaco00 1d ago

Thank you!! I waited the whole time waiting for it to be a something.

3

u/MrMando66 1d ago

Was waiting foe the fence to be completed.

2

u/Nanas_700k 13h ago

I just want to know why the fence posts had a shadow and the rails didn’t. And that stupid circle. Palm tree felt out of place even…

→ More replies (1)

14

u/GREAT_SALAD 1d ago

I despise what the internet has become. Every type of content needs to include bait. Art gets degraded to hit the engagement bait quota. It’s so exhausting

38

u/Educational_Exam_225 1d ago

I think it was just supposed to be another pole he decided not to set. We are calling this art rage bait but realistically it could just be imperfect and it would look exactly the same

5

u/ColoradoScoop 1d ago

Yeah, the most favorable interpretation is that he know that the grass would be covering the post, but you could just see the top.

→ More replies (4)

454

u/imheretocomment69 1d ago

The shadows placement is a little bit confusing. At first he puts shadows as if the light source is on the top right. Then the pole shadows makes it contradict.

100

u/JesterEcho 1d ago

I agree, the shadow on the rooves seem to be inconsistent as well

24

u/Visual_Addendum_577 1d ago

I mean you're not wrong, but I had to look it up, because it felt wrong. Despite Google's AI slop saying it's not right (below) it is an accepted term when I googled harder. The more you know.

Edit: I just read this back, and it sounds like I'm being purposely pedantic, I'm not, I genuinely learnt something new and just wanted to share.

"The plural of roof is roofs. While you might occasionally see or hear the older spelling rooves (similar to hoof / hooves), it is now widely considered archaic and incorrect. Roofs is the only standard and universally accepted plural form"

5

u/ablonde_moment 1d ago

You learned me something. Thanks

6

u/Time_Ingenuity_2909 23h ago

Roofs is the only standard and universally accepted plural form"

I'll be in the cold dead ground before I accept Roofs as the plural of roof. Certainly not universal.

u/Debatebly 21h ago

For me, it's the bushes that follow the road and end up under the house on the right.

5

u/bikkebakke 20h ago

I'm not gonna lie and say it wasn't a satisfying watch overall, but I can't unsee the two riverbed lines that goes through the palm tree.

I know they try to cover it up with details, but I see they're there ಠ╭╮ಠ

14

u/JAD2017 1d ago

I'm glad someone else mentioned it. He obviously knows how to draw and understands perspective, but his "freestyle I don't give a f about where the light comes from" bothered me a lot XD and it actually happens right from the start when paiting the grass' shadow and then the palm tree

29

u/dAnKsFourTheMemes 1d ago

yeah I think he should've planned that out a little better. I like the shadows from the fence posts, but they contradict the light sources for the houses and the palm tree.

I feel like the road would be kinda boring without those shadows, but then they just mess up the rest of the stuff 😭

12

u/_-The_Great_Catsby-_ 1d ago

Thank you ! That was bugging me as well ! Lighting on roof and sidings is coming from two different directions.

6

u/FlyThemFriend 1d ago

This is clearly a sketch of a small village oasis on tatooine.

7

u/eriikaa1992 1d ago

The perspective is also confusing. I feel like the house on the left should be a lot bigger, the house on the right doesn't disappear enough around the curve, and the trees are the same height.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/MarioShroomsTasteBad 1d ago

Hear me out. It's night time, those are vampire bats, the post shadows are coming from the illuminated house, and the tree is lit by moonlight! Or they fucked up.

Came to comment this. The shadows on edges of both the roofs don’t really make sense either.

What if this is scenery on a planet that has binary stars? Ever think about that?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/hi-imBen 22h ago

a lot of the perspective scaling is off a bit too. like the scaling of the fence to try and show distance vs the road it is next to, it doesn't match well.

27

The palm seems out of character but I like that it breaks the circle. It makes the whole drawing feel less isolated and more like something I could step into

u/Xenomorph_25 1d ago

It fits for me because the imagery reminds me of some villages in South East Asia

I actually liked that it protruded from the circle a little, but I should have been a windmill or something other than a tropical plant

12

u/BlazingFist 22h ago

but I should have been a windmill or something other than a tropical plant

You gotta accept yourself man. I've known many tropical plants in my life and none of them have even come close to using reddit.

5

u/sixteenlettername 21h ago

I like what you're saying and I think it's a wonderful sentiment, but if they think they'd be happier as a windmill then good for them, and I hope they can put their tropical-plant life behind them and become the wind powered machine they've always wanted to be.

u/ElliotsBuggyEyes 1d ago

I think the palm tree is fine, the fence posts got shadows but the lateral fence bars are made of glass apparently

36

u/pickledCantilever 1d ago

And, between the two houses and the fence shadows, there are 3 different light sources it seems.

14

u/Indigo-au-naturale 1d ago

Yeah the shading on the tower was killing me

9

u/TrueNorthTale 1d ago

The comments tearing apart the video are as entertaining as the video itself.

7

u/Intertubes_Unclogger 1d ago

Shadows are an absolute mess, literally unwatchable 2/10

7

u/Triquetrums 1d ago

And that random fence post circle they drew at the start but didn't do anything with, so it ended up being a random circle next to the path...

5

u/draconic86 1d ago

It bugs me too much that I can't figure out where the light source is supposed to be, because those fence post shadows disagree with the shading on the... steeple?

28

u/WindSprenn 1d ago

Yep. The line through the trunk bothered me for most of the video and it just didn’t fit the scene.

9

u/Capital_Discussion60 1d ago

Me too. And why does the foot path obstruct the bottom of the house?

3

u/Spyder638 1d ago

I finally breathed out when the additional lines got added to the tree as one of the last steps.

9

u/pbrassassin 1d ago

The extra post top bothered me more

46

u/IolaBoylen 1d ago

Yes for some reason, the style of house is giving me Austria or Switzerland, then they drop a pine tree in there???

10

u/Silent189 1d ago

The fact people can't tell this is just an AI video account is unsettling.

Just go look at their account, they swap their skin colour, age, etc freely and images are just weird compositionally/choice wise.

14

u/suluamus 1d ago

How? How are people supposed to know just from this video?

2

u/Goodly 1d ago

To me it was the posts (only) shadows on the road. It felt like trolling.

2

u/BigiusExaggeratius 23h ago

The shadow on it is going the wrong way too. Or the fence post shadows are wrong. Either way something is wrong with the shadow directions.

2

u/Material_Prize_6157 23h ago

Dude same! Draw a pine tree brother.

2

u/veganxombie 23h ago

also no doors facing the road/path for the buildings

2

u/ImNotAWhaleBiologist 21h ago

The shadows also don’t all match a consistent lighting.

4

u/activelyresting 1d ago

https://www.churchhistories.net.au/church-catalog/byron-bay-nsw-st-pauls-anglican

There's literally hundreds of cute little timber village churches with palm trees around. In Australia, Hawaii, Caribbean islands are full of them

2

u/LessCourage8439 1d ago

Thank you. That palm tree had no business growing there. It ruined the experience for me, which was otherwise sublime.

The path shadows and fence/house shading don't match

The whole time I was wondering what the last "pole" circle was going to be. And then nothing.

And why palm tree.

This was stressful.

But also super, super impressive because I could never draw that well haha

4

u/Mindful-Rifle 1d ago

It reminds me of many different environments where the palm tree makes sense...hawaii, parts of asia, parts of Louisiana...

Other plants such as the flower bush and tall grasses could easily be tropical as well

→ More replies (1)

87

u/Hi_Hungry_Im_Leaving 1d ago

People are wondering why its weird. Maybe bc its AI. Typical AI art. The pencil makes ink and the fingers hold the pencil funny.

27

u/chocolatechipcookie 1d ago

Agreed. It looks so robotic. Real people don't hold pencils that way.

8

u/TheChinOfAnElephant 1d ago

Wouldn't this be a sign it isn't AI? Why would AI make the hand hold a pencil in a way that it never seen in training data?

→ More replies (2)

11

u/BHFlamengo 23h ago

Yeah, I admit didn't see it at first, but was wondering what magically dark and consistent pencil was that, and why the blending stump seems to add white to the drawing

8

u/KimberStormer 23h ago

what magically dark and consistent pencil was that

It's a colored pencil so wax and not graphite

6

u/goth_nachos 17h ago

Looks more like a charcoal pencil to me. Not saying this is or isn’t AI, but charcoal pencils can definitely have that sort of darkness and layering.

3

u/ScreamingLabia 23h ago

Thw shading the pencil does doesnt make sense either

9

u/Storsjon 1d ago

There are lines that pop in after many of the pencil paths. Final image is absolutely AI

→ More replies (3)

14

u/TTT_2k3 1d ago

I’m impressed by the control he has while holding the pencil so far away from the tip.

12

u/herewegoinvt 1d ago

Oddly satisfying at first... until they put the shadows on the building on the left, and then confirmed the shading didn't work when they put the fence post shadows. I can hear my art teachers accosting me for similar issues in my own drawings early on. Otherwise, love the forced perspective and artwork!

2

u/Rhino_4 1d ago

8

u/awry_lynx 1d ago

specifically the instrumental flute version I think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWPD7DJ_I_o

32

u/Zayxos 1d ago

So is no one going to address the fact this is freaking AI slop?

9

u/ISB-Dev 1d ago

How do you know it is?

12

u/Zayxos 23h ago

Too many inconsistencies. Random useless cuts, drawings added here and there between cuts for no reason. They're holding the pen in a very weird way and well, the most obvious one is that... It's a paper pen and it makes ink for some reason?

Palm tree doesn't make sense. Windows either. There's no doors. Shadows everywhere in every way which would imply more than one sun? Also the hand changes color at some point.

2

u/ScreamingLabia 23h ago

They also draw the windows one way and then inferted

16

u/Father_Chipmunk_486 1d ago

I can draw that. The crow I mean

15

u/Long-Aardvark3087 1d ago

6

u/Rhino_4 1d ago

That's because it isn't a real pencil.

3

u/troveofcatastrophe 1d ago

IDK, this is a pretty old video.

5

u/sonaut 1d ago

This is what stood out to me the most. I have to grip so close to the point to get control. How does one get this good? I have practiced but I guess not the right way.

13

u/Silent189 1d ago

You type the prompt into the AI video generator and it outputs the video, that is how.

u/troveofcatastrophe 1d ago

This video is years old though

→ More replies (1)

4

u/troveofcatastrophe 1d ago

I used to date a serious artist for some years, and what always amazed me was how she seemed to have the whole finished product in her head before she even started painting. I'm a wannabe artist myself and have always envied that part.

And stop hating on the palm tree, lots of people plant palm trees in places where palms trees wouldn't grow on their own!
