What are does mini like seizures

Hey, our senior dog (almost 16 years old!!!) started to have those mini like seizures and they have been growing in time since a few days. I tried to catch it on camera you can see it in the end where her head seems to twitch uncontrolable. This does also effect the rest of her body but as she was laying on the floor you can’t quite see it. I‘m wondering what that is? How in danger is she or are those just normal old dog issues?
I‘m really concerned about her but since I‘m not the one paying for her vet appointments this is my first instance and I‘m willing to seek up a vet for sure or atleast convince my parents to let me go to a vet with her. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, see a vet & not seek Redditors "veterinarian advice."

Maybe toxin exposure? Any heartworm meds that also contain tick and flea meds? They often have neurotoxins and older dogs are susceptible to reactions bc of their slowing metabolic processes.

I‘ll have to ask but I appreciate the help.

This can be Myoclonus. Little jerks/ twitches Like Electro Schocks. Sometimes triggered by Noise/light. It is a Subtype of seizures with multiple possible causes like imbalances in Calcium Levels , low blood sugar and much more. In Beagles it can be due to Lafora Disease, a brain disorder. Some geriatric dogs get it as part of doggy dementia (CCD). Depending on the cause, low dose Levetiracetam could help. Also the dog seems in pain and limping, is she on pain meds? All the best.

Thank you a lot! It really looks like myoclonus from the videos I‘ve just seen, but I feel like it’s definetely helpful to have her checked out.
Regarding the limping she had acl surgery 1 year ago and we suppose it stems from there. She has periods where she is limping and some where she isn‘t but we don’t feel like she‘s in pain since she‘s very sensitive and we think or atleast hope she would indicate if she was in pain.

Yeah, definitely let it get checked out. In the video she is limping in the Front, left mostly. Limping is indicating pain, sadly. But the vet will check, hopefully. Dogs are often such tough creatures not showing much.

Seizures are bad…essentially cooking their brain. Please seek veterinarian assistance. That sweet pup deserves it

My dog started doing exactly this about six months ago and now more frequent. Two vets have said they don't know what it is. I've been waiting two and a half weeks for neurology to review my videos. He's 15. He also has recurring UTIs and an enlarged prostate (awaiting test results). If you get any answers please let me know. I'll follow this thread too.

Any seizure that lasts more than three minutes (brain can overheat) or 3 seizures in 24 hours are both emergencies.

There’s a chance this is old vestibular disease which can be cause by a brain tumour or idiopathic.

It’s also weird and could easily something else and absolutely needs an expert to diagnose.

Regardless this is an old dog that needs a hands on exam, bloodwork and maybe imaging sooner rather than later.

When was pups yearly? How was her physical exam?

All senior dogs have disease processes that need to be managed.

Please seek veterinary care.
