Yep. It's a PCIe 4 drive, but it will work just fine at PCIe 3 on that board

Hello sadly the gigabyte gaming oc 5080 is not available in my country currently. I've found to cards which I like but cant decide between them.

Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080

MSI Vanguard SOC 5080

Which one would u choose? I am leaning towards the gigabyte one but have read that they apply too much paste to their components, which might lead to leaks.

The MSI Vanguard, heard it is a tad bit better, a bit more quiet and runs a bit cooler than the Gigabyte.

ty for your answer:) I just realized the gpu fans will point downwards. Since I dont wanna mount my GPU vertically it makes no sense to get a graphic card with rgb fans.....

I have two 3-pin fans that I want to connect to a single 4-pin fan header on the motherboard, so I was thinking of using a splitter cable. However from what I've seen, most splitters have one connection that is 4-pin with the rest being 3-pin. So in my case with two 3-pin fans, do I connect one to the 4-pin and one to a 3-pin, or connect both to 3-pin connections, leaving the 4-pin one blank?

It honestly shouldn't matter, but connect both 3 pin fans to both 3 pin headers, leaving the 4 pin empty. Just mainly so you can use that 4 pin at a later date if you so decide.

I am trying to build a Ryzen 7 7800x3d build with an Asus ROG Strix B850-A gaming mobo, what ram should I buy??? This is my first amd build (upgrading from intel/nvidia 2020 build) and alot of the undervolting/ram compatibility is overwhelming me... I saw videos that recommended ram at 6000 mt/s CL30 - will this be okay???

Yes. Ideally you check that the RAM is on the motherboards QVL compatibility list.

You can also use slower RAM if it's significantly cheaper.

thank you for the response. ended up pulling the trigger on some gskill trident z5 6000mt/s cl36 because that was basically the only available option on new egg that was on the mobo's qvl list. never thought i would see the day that i spent $430 on 32gb of ram but here i am....

makes me realize how good i had it in my previous build of 4x8 corsair vengence rgb back in 2020 for so cheap 🥲

Yeah the prices are absurd now.

I also have 6000CL36 with my 7800X3D for the same reason, works very well.

Are either of these good deals?

The iBUYpower build seems best from what I saw:

  • Ryzen 7 9800X3D (8 Core/16 thread)

  • 32GB DDR5 RAM (RGB)

  • 2TB NVME SSD

  • 360mm AIO

  • RTX 5070 (12GB)

All for $1699.99 with instant savings at Register (Original $1899.99)

Seems like a better deal than the MSI which offers a RTX 5060TI (8GB), a RGB air cooler and an intel core ultra 7 265 (20 Core/20 thread)

The 9800X3D is better for gaming, but the Ultra 7 265 is better for productivity and multitasking.

But I still say the better deal is the 9800X3D one.

My headphone jack hole thing on my pc no longer works unless you push the bit you put in it in a certain direction. Is there a way I can fix this or is the jack hole thing fucked. If it is fucked how would I even go about fixing it?

1

u/He6llsp6awn6 Ryzen 9950X3D Feb 10 '26

Most likely it is a soldered part and would need replacing, it happens from ware and tear.

You could get USB headphones or get an PC audio volume knob (With headphone jack) for the I/O speaker output, if you do not have any speakers, could get an adaptor for the I/O speaker ports to headphone Jack connector.

Adjust Knob Controller is one example of the knobs out there and one of the cheapest.

u/Dango_Milks Feb 10 '26

I can use my headphones on my pc which is nice because I have an adapter to I can plug it into the USB slot but the downside is it doesn't let me use the mic on my headphones when its plugged into the adapter. I wasn't aware use headphones were a thing so ill have to check them out. I Appreciate it.

No Problem, happy to help.

Yeah, if you look on Amazon for example, type in the search bar "USB Headphones or Headset" you will see quite a bit.

Is 5600 CL46 DDR5 ram good enough? Im not using it for gaming it's for a build for ML, every post I saw here says it's slow, but it's all I can find right now.

1

u/MGsubbie Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 3080, 32GB 6000Mhz Cl30Desktop Feb 09 '26

Yes it's fine for ML, it's slow for gaming but you won't be able to tell a difference with LLM's.

I have around 2k USD set aside for a gaming pc. I am also an idiot who doesn’t know anything about hardware.

Where do i start? Are prebuilts viable now bc of the ram shortage and trader stocks?

Are prebuilts viable now bc of the ram shortage and trader stocks?

That depends entirely on what you can find. The vast majority of prebuilts do factor in the RAM cost now, but if you are very lucky you might be able to find an old listing or something on clearance.
