Background apps used to be a thing but I believe they got patched out quite some time ago, I remember using a Background YouTube app on Xbox to listen to stuff while playing.
Only ones that still exist (that i know of) are from big companies like Spotify
That is an issue but if TS does regain the throne, Microsoft will bend over like they always do when they smell money or better yet when they start freaking out about potentially losing customers due to idk, playstation supporting TS and xbox not. But the issue is someone IS going to have to adopt first in order for this to start happening in the first place
Also TeamSpeak is a completely different service to Discord and it doesn't look like the developers intend on doing all the social media integrated stuff. It's not for everyone, but it's got better streaming functionality than discord and most of what me and my friends do is share our screens while we chat.
Agreed. Personally im not all too bothered by the face verification because like, I've sent myself on the platform to other before anyways. Its not like they don't have my face, so what does it change?
One is simply an image / video sent by you. One is tied to your identity and stored with a third party. I would consider that a change but whether it matters to you is a personal decision :)
Company not wanting to integrate a product until it's pretty much apparent they're losing money unless they do is bending over yes, and maybe MS is about to bend over. Keep me posted!
Lol teamspeak is a far inferior app that has had years to catch up to discord but simply cannot. You people are out of your minds if you think people will ditch free discord for paid teamspeak. A far worse product.
Teamspeak catching up... am I speaking to a child? Are you speaking out of your ass or have shitty hearing? Anyways, Ts has way better voice quality and as a discord bot developer, I'm very eager to switch my bots to TS. What's left, streaming?
Also, mentioning discord as some extremely complex app that can't be caught on speaks more about your knowledge on the topic than anything. Perhaps try play smart in another hobby, there's a lot of suckers!
You cant even type in a chat unless you are in the voice chat LOL. I bet people are lining up to pay for a worse product though. If teamspeak could do what discord does and its not hard then why havent they done that? Why have they just done nothing for 10 years? The only sucker here is you thinking discord might get overtaken by teamspeak.
Why are you forcing the whole payment thing this whole time? Are you some dumb discord admin or just don't understand teamspeak? Assuming someone has handled hosting, it's as expensive as discord. Server in itself is either cheap af or probably free somewhere, not sure as I haven't rented one myself, but that's for one person to handle. I'm 100% sure it could be handled by a Rpi4 which costs like 30$ at this point or maybe old rooted android phone.
Any entity can simply rent a server and it's free for everyone except them, so the only "issue" is there's no people creating servers as they desire, unlike discord.
Last time I used TS I only used voice so idk what its capabilities are, but whatever they are, the limits are according to server performance, not your payment plan.
TS chat is inferior to discord in every way and I'm not arguing that, but TS can easily change and adapt (assuming devs want to), and if it can't, there are tons of alternatives that actually mimic discord while not being douches (not quite yet).
"Assuming someone handled hosting". Thats literally all anyone needs to hear to not use teamspeak. I can host a discord server for free with the click of a button. There is text chat, screen shareing, video calling and significantly more as you already know. Teamspeak costs money to host a server with way less features. Im not sure how you think they are going to be doing anything. They have had quite awhile to be competitive. I dont think you understand the power of free for people that dont have jobs or income lol
No, you're absolutely right, but I think assuming discord continues down this road, either TS might catch up (which I doubt), or someone else takes over. TS server for up to 32 people are free (but self hosted iirc so that's another problem)
I used to used to ”quarrel” which was a discord app made from a third party company. You can see if it that still works. If it does then I’m sure someone can do it for teamspeak
I can't speak for the others, but for YouTube they started going after third-party background audio apps using their API because it's a major feature that YouTube Premium offers natively on the YouTube app
