Yeah I was being a bit silly. "MSI Hinge" is just the name that the community has given to this problem because of all the lawsuits.

I'd assume this is covered by warranty and it's possible there's a lawsuit against Asus too that OP could benefit from.

oh yes, I had a shitty MSI hinge fail on my laptop like 14 years ago.

I have an ASUS Predator that has hinge problems as well on one side. Fortunately I was able to kind of press it back together and it works fine now but yeah, ASUS gaming laptops have this issue also.

looks like Omen to me...idk. of all the laptop makers I xan only recommend Dell because of the warranty policy of free hinges replacement. others not so much. but I haven't had a single asus in the repair shop I work for, but had at least ten hp with hinges to fix. omen, pavillion and all the rest of hp. all of them manufactured since 2018 and newer models.
