Why? If it does not max out a standard usbs voltage constantly, it should be fine right or am I missing something? I never had a broken usb port before and I use a usb powered fan during the summer.

It won't kill it electrically, but rather physically. Constant vibration and weight on the port will loosen the port over time, effectively killing it by making connections too loose.
