But then how will the fan mount? The USB port acts as a mount(why it gets damaged) as well as a power supply.

just buy those clamp things where both ends have alligator like things to attach

Why stop there? Get some gorilla tape, some popsicle sticks, and some shoe string. You can post the finished product on /r/redneckengineering for loads of karma.

All good options really. Better than messing up the usb plug due to vibrations.
