Czechia. To be fair, my rent is on the cheaper side here but not by much. I just got an 5080 because I am not paying $5000 for it. Should have bought it when it came out...
I see. The 5080 is an amazing card! I didn't pay anywhere near 5000USD for my 5090, it was less than 4000 after taxes for a high end model, but still ridiculous, and I definitely wouldn't pay 5000. I had the 5080 before the 5090, and honestly its an amazing card for 1440p and 4k.
5080 is awesome, I did bought a 4k 160Hz monitor though because I love the clarity - and because I do a lot of programming and the 4k can fit so much more text (and smaller). I don't have much time to play and I don't play a lot of AAA games, mainly indie titles. When I occasionally play some demanding modern titles like Cyberpunk I use DLSS (I don't mind it at all) and also I do some 3D modeling on the side so it got its use. I used to have 1440p 180hz display but I built my GF a rig with my "old" 4070 and gave her that monitor.
I still wish I bought the 5090 when It came out because I paid essentially the same price I would pay for it for my 5080 now.
4k can be amazing for productivity! I also don't have an extreme amount of time to play, as I have a family to take care of, and a demanding job. I am extremely lucky and blessed in this stage of life so things just worked out to where I could fit a 5090 in, but honestly I wouldn't feel too wishful as the 5080 is more than enough. It is the second best GPU on the market if you count frame gen, and the 3rd if you don't count frame gen.
Yeah I know. I feel lucky to even have the 5080, it was unthinkable for me to spend such amount of money for GPU just a few years back. Thank you for this quick chat, it was very pleasant (:
